Transfer calendars or events in Google Calendar

You can transfer calendars or events you own to new owners. You can also move events to other calendars.

Before you transfer calendars or events in Google Calendar

  • You can’t transfer your primary calendar, which is automatically assigned to you when you first sign in to Calendar.
  • You can only transfer ownership of secondary calendars. A secondary calendar is:
    • Any calendar that you create.
    • A group calendar that’s shared with you.
  • If you delete your Google Account, this also deletes all calendars you own. To save the calendar, transfer ownership to someone else.
  • You can’t transfer events with more than 200 guests to another owner or calendar.
  • After you transfer an event or calendar to another owner, they get an email with a link. The new owner has 60 days to accept ownership, and you remain the owner until then.
  • When you transfer events with a Google Meet link, the video conferencing policies applicable to that event are also affected. Learn how Google Meet settings apply to events created on or transferred to other calendars.

Important:

  • Only the current calendar owner can do a transfer.
  • For work or school accounts, the new calendar owner must be in the same organization.
