Open & edit photos

You can open and make basic edits to photos you’ve saved on your Chromebook.

Open a photo or video with the Gallery app

  1. Sign in to your Chromebook.
  2. In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher πŸ‘ Image
    .
  3. Open Files πŸ‘ Image
    .
  4. Find the photo or video you want to open. It might be saved in:
    • "Camera"
    • "Downloads"
    • "My Drive"
  5. Double-click the photo or video.

Edit, delete, or print your photos

  1. Select the photo you want to edit.
    • In the Camera app πŸ‘ Image
      , on the bottom right, you can select your most recent photo or video.
  2. Choose an option:
    • Rename a photo: At the top left, select the filename. To save the new name, press Enter.
    • Crop or rotate your photo: At the top, select Crop & rotate πŸ‘ Image
      .
    • Change your photo’s width and height: At the top, select Rescale πŸ‘ Image
      .
    • Adjust contrast or brightness: At the top, select Lighting filters πŸ‘ Image
      .
    • Edit with AI: At the top, select Edit with AI πŸ‘ Image
      .
      • You can:
        • Expand background: To make images taller or wider.
        • Remove background: To remove background of an image.
        • Make a sticker: To extract an object or content from an image and paste or insert it somewhere else.
        • Erase: To remove objects in the image.
      • This feature is only available in Lenovo Chromebook Plus (14β€œ, 10).
    • Undo or redo changes: Select Undo πŸ‘ Image
      or Redo πŸ‘ Image
      .
    • Delete a photo: At the top, select Delete πŸ‘ Image
      .
    • Print a photo: At the top right, select More πŸ‘ Image
      πŸ‘ and then
      Print.

Tips:

  • To edit your video, at the top right, select Edit in Photos to open in the Photos app. WebM video file types can't be edited with Google Photos. Or, to continue editing your photo with more advanced features, on the right, select More tools in Photos.
  • When you use Edit with AI, the output is subjective and can lead to a wide variety of potential issues, AI model output can vary. This also uses trust and safety filters that can prevent output generation for various images.
  • If you experience issues with Edit with AI, load a different image.
