Generate & edit images with Gemini in Google Slides & Vids

Feature availability

You can generate and edit an image with Gemini 3 Pro image in:

Generate & insert an image

  1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides or a video in Google Vids.
  2. Click the slide or scene where you want to add the image.
  3. In the right panel, enter a prompt. For example:
    • β€œA beautiful photograph of a Hawaiian beach at sunset with palm trees in the distance.”
    • β€œA plate of freshly baked blueberry muffins on a wooden kitchen table next to a large window.”
    • β€œWatercolor painting of hydrangeas in a water pitcher.”
    • β€œA futuristic cityscape with skyscrapers and flying cars set at night with HD details and shadows.”
  4. Optional:
    • To customize the image you create, click Add a style πŸ‘ Image
      .
    • To customize the image ratio, click Aspect Ratio πŸ‘ Image
      and select:
      • Square: 1:1
      • Wide: 16:9
      • Tall: 9:16
  5. Click Create.
  6. To preview the image on your slide or in your scene, click the image.
  7. To insert the generated image:
    1. In the right panel, click the image.
      • The image preview opens.
    2. In the preview window, click Insert.

Tip: For better results, avoid figurative language in your prompt. When you create a prompt, you can include the subject, setting, distance to subject, materials, or background. For example:

  • β€œA close up of a boat made out of wood on a lake surrounded by trees at sunrise.β€œ

Edit an image

  1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides or a video in Google Vids.
  2. Click an image πŸ‘ and then
    Edit image πŸ‘ Image
    .
  3. Enter a prompt that describes how to adjust the image. For example:
    • β€œPlace this image within a frame hanging in an art gallery.”
    • β€œAdd a fluffy white cat.”
  4. Click Create.
  5. To preview the image on your slide, click the image.
  6. To replace the original image with the new generated image, click Replace with image.
  7. Optional:

Create a slide in Google Slides (beta)

Important: This functionality generates an image of a slide based on your active slide and presentation content. It’s currently only available in Google Slides. Beta indicates that this feature is new and may make mistakes.

  1. On your computer, go to Google Slides.
  2. Click a slide.
  3. In the toolbar, click Insert πŸ‘ and then
    Help me visualize πŸ‘ Image
    πŸ‘ and then
    Slide πŸ‘ Image
    .
  4. In the side panel, enter a prompt for the slide you want to create. More detailed prompts often lead to better results. For example:
    • Title and body text
    • Goal
    • Overall tone
    • Layout and visual style
    • Any technical specifics (fonts, etc)
  5. At the bottom of the side panel, click Create.
  6. To edit the generated slide image before you insert it, enter a prompt stating how you want to adjust the slide image. For example:
    • β€œUpdate the title header to be a lighter shade of blue and underline it.”
  7. When the output meets your expected result, select the generated slide image.
  8. Click Insert as new slide or Insert on this side πŸ‘ Down arrow
    .

Tip: To generate an editable slide, use the "Generate a slide" feature.

Create an infographic in Google Slides (beta)

Important: This functionality generates an image of an infographic based on your active slide and presentation content. It’s currently only available in Google Slides. Beta indicates that this feature is new and may make mistakes.

  1. On your computer, go to Google Slides.
  2. Click a slide.
  3. In the toolbar click Insert πŸ‘ and then
    Help me visualize πŸ‘ Image
    πŸ‘ and then
    Infographic πŸ‘ Image
    .
  4. In the side panel, enter a prompt for the infographic you want to create. More detailed prompts often lead to better results. For example:
    • Title
    • Goal of the infographic
    • Overall tone
    • Layout and visual style
    • Data visualization format
  5. At the bottom of the side panel, click Create.
  6. To edit the generated infographic image before you insert, enter a prompt for how you want to adjust the infographic image. For example:
    • β€œUpdate the title header to be a lighter shade of blue and underline it.”
  7. When the output meets your expected result, select the generated infographic image.
  8. Click Insert on this slide or Insert as new slide πŸ‘ Down arrow

Remove an image background

  1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides or a video in Google Vids.
  2. Click an image πŸ‘ and then
    Remove background πŸ‘ Image
    .
