Create Content, Images & Audio Overviews with Gemini in Drive
Important: To use Gemini in Drive, you must have an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan. Learn more about Gemini features and plans.
Export Gemini's output to Docs or Sheets
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini 👁 Image
. - Ask for a table, proposal, or formatted list.
- Once generated, click the Export to Docs👁 Image
or Export to Sheets👁 Image

Note: Any file created via Ask Gemini's immersive workspace automatically saves to your My Drive root folder.

Create Audio Overviews with Gemini
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- Open a PDF file.
- Tip: Audio also generates from these file types:
- Google Docs
- Google Slides
- Microsoft Office Word Document
- Microsoft Office Powerpoint Presentation
- Plain Text files
- Videos
- Tip: Audio also generates from these file types:
- At the top right, you can click Create audio overview 👁 Image
. - To play your audio overview, wait for it to finish generating, and then click Play 👁 Image
in the side panel. - Once the audio overview is generated, you will receive an email with the file link.
- All audio overviews are saved in the "Audio overviews" folder in My Drive.
- Audio files are named "[File name] - audio overview - YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM UTC"
If you refresh the page or close the side panel or the tab before the generation is done, the file doesn’t generate.
Tips:
- You can only generate audio overviews on the web, but you can access them on the web, iOS, and Android.
- You can’t use a prompt in the side panel to generate audio overviews.
- You can only generate 20 audio overviews per day.
Create Images with Gemini
To create images:
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini 👁 Image
. - Click Tools 👁 Image
👁 and then
Create Images - Type a prompt.
Important: The features below are available for
- Gemini Alpha, which is available for work and school accounts only. Your administrator controls access to Gemini Alpha work and school accounts. If you can't find this feature, your administrator may not have Alpha features enabled for your organization.
- Google AI Ultra and Google AI Pro personal accounts.
- Google Workspace Experiments, which is a trusted tester program for personal accounts to try new AI features. Learn more about Workspace Experiments.
- Desktop and in English only.
Generate a Google Docs document
You can use Ask Gemini to create a Google Docs document.
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini 👁 Image
. - Enter a prompt, for example:
- “Create a meeting notes agenda”
- “Generate a draft with a response to this email”
- “Create a quick project coordination doc with a 30/60/90 plan section”.
- Click Submit.
Generate a Google Slides presentation
You can use Ask Gemini to create a fully editable presentation in Google Slides with a single prompt.
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini 👁 Image
. - Enter a prompt, for example:
- Create a slide on quantum computing for a general audience with a modern design.”
- Optional:
- To give your presentation the same style as an existing slide deck, you can use @<presentation name> to reference it. For example: “Create a presentation based on @old_project”.
- To refine your presentation plan, you can answer Gemini’s follow-up questions or clarifications. These questions will differ based on your topic or references you provided. You can skip these questions.
- Click Submit. Gemini generates a presentation plan.
- Once satisfied with the plan, click Approve.
- Keep the tab open until Gemini generates your presentation. You can switch to other tabs or windows but do not close the existing tab.
- Once the presentation is generated, you can open it in Google Slides to view and edit. .
Generate a Google Sheets spreadsheet
You can use Ask Gemini to create a Google Sheets spreadsheet.
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini 👁 Image
. - Enter a prompt, for example:
- "Create a sheet to track my monthly expenses with columns for date, category, amount, and notes."
- "Create a table for a project tracker in Google Sheets with columns for task, assignee, deadline, and status."
- "Create a 10-day itinerary for a first-time visitor covering Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka."
- "Create a visual dashboard in Sheets of this sales data."
- Click Submit.
