How do I track my running goals & records?

Track your weekly running progress towards your goals and gain insights from advanced metrics.

Check your running progress & trends

For your runs to appear in the Google Health app, you’ll need to first do the following:

  • Start a run in the Exercise app on your Fitbit device or Pixel Watch
  • Or, have a GPS-connected run tracked directly from your device (if supported).
  • Or, log a running activity on the Today or Fitness tabs.
  • Afterwards, make sure to sync your device with the Google Health app.

For more information on recording your runs, go to How to track workouts with my Fitbit device and Google Pixel Watch.

View your running performance metrics

Important: Run dashboard is available on Google Pixel Watch 3 and 4 only. For other Fitbit devices, you can track your running goals and records through the Google Health app.

In the Google Health app 👁 Image
, tap the Fitness tab 👁 Image
. Under “Key metrics” tap Running distance. Here, you can:

Use the filters below the graph to check your run performance over different periods of time. You can filter for:

  • Distance: how far you’ve run
  • Duration: how much time you’ve run
  • Pace
  • Form metrics like cadence, stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, and vertical ratio (available with a Google Pixel Watch 3 and 4)

Refer to the graph to check your trends (distance, duration, pace, or form metrics) over a period of time.

Your Pixel Watch 3 or 4 will track personal records when you wear it and begin a workout. Any past runs you recorded with other devices won't be included in your personal records.

In the Google Health app 👁 Image
, tap the Health tab 👁 Image
👁 and then
Personal records to view your best running distances and speeds.

Tip: When using Pixel Watch 3 or Pixel Watch 4 for running activities, the system automatically detects and logs personal records including your longest run and your fastest mile, 5K, or marathon.

After a run, review your workout performance summary on your exercise summary in the Google Health app, which includes a breakdown of key metrics that you can tap or filter to explore in more detail. You can also check specific metric charts and graphs for a more in-depth analysis. Look for your summary on Today or on the Fitness tab.
