Create an illustrated storybook in Gemini Apps

You can create a storybook from a text prompt or using your own photos in Gemini Apps. You can also have Gemini read the story aloud.

What you need

1. Go to gemini.google.com.
2. On the left under Gems, click Storybook.
   • Tip: If you don’t find Storybook, click Explore Gems 👁 Image
      to find the complete list of Gems.
3. In the text box, enter a prompt of the story you want to generate.
   • Optional: To upload your own photos or files for Gemini to use in your story, click Add files 👁 Image

4. Click Submit 👁 Image

   • When your storybook is ready, it will open in the panel on the right. 

In addition to the Storybook Gem, you can start a storybook:

With a prompt in a new chat

In the text box, start your prompt with “Create a storybook about” and add your desired topic.

To start a storybook through a text prompt, “storybook” must be entered in English.

With an uploaded image

1. In the text box at the bottom, click Add files 👁 Image
   . .
2. Select the photo(s) you want Gemini to use to create your storybook.
3. Below the text box, click Create a storybook 👁 Image
   .

Tips: 

• It may take 1–2 minutes for the storybook to be created.
• Storybooks generated in Gemini Apps are usually  10-12 pages.
• To regenerate your story, in the text box on the left, tell Gemini what changes you want to make and Gemini will create a new version of the story.
• To view your saved versions, at the top, click Previous Version 👁 Image
   or Next Version 👁 Image

At the top of the storybook, find options for how you can interact with the book.

• To view the storybook in full screen, click Full screen 👁 Image

• To go to the next page, click next 👁 Image
  or the lower right corner of the book.
• To go to the previous page, click back 👁 Image
   or the lower left corner of the book.
• To jump to the beginning or end, click the page number to pull up options:
  • To go to the beginning, click Jump to beginning 👁 Image

  • To go to the end, click Jump to end 👁 Image
    .
• To listen to the book, click Listen 👁 Image
  .
  • Tip: You can also change the voice reading the storybook. To change the voice, next to Listen, click 👁 Image
    and select a different voice.

1. At the top, click Share 👁 Image
   👁 and then
    Share 👁 Image

2. Next to the g.co/gemini/share link, click Copy link 👁 Image
   . Then paste it where you want to share, like in a messaging app, an email draft, or a forum thread.

   • If you have pop-ups blocked, you may be asked to allow pop-ups from gemini.google.com in your browser. Steps to allow pop-ups may differ by browser. Learn how to allow pop-ups from a site in Google Chrome.
2. Follow onscreen instructions.

Tip: You can also create a PDF of your storybook by selecting “Save as PDF” in your print options.

If you find a storybook offensive or unsafe, you can report the content.

1. Open the storybook. 
2. On the bottom of the cover page, click Report content.
