About payment methods for Google Ads

As of June 28, 2024, Giropay is no longer supported as a form of payment for Google Ads customers on automatic and manual payments in Germany. Refunds after account cancellation for advertisers who used Giropay will not be affected.
PayPal is temporarily unavailable for new accounts using automatic payments. Additionally, you won’t be able to add it to an existing account. You can still sign up using PayPal for manual payments, where available.

OOO Google (Google Russia) filed for bankruptcy in Russia in June 2022 and is no longer operational. On 18 October 2023, the bankruptcy court announced the start of the liquidation phase of Google Russia’s bankruptcy proceedings. During this phase, a court-appointed liquidator will manage Google Russia and its liquidation.

These insolvency proceedings are governed by the Insolvency Law of the Russian Federation. More information about these proceedings is available on the court’s website and the official bankruptcy register.

The payment methods available for you to pay for Google Ads may vary depending on your country, currency, and payment settings. Select your country in the dropdown menu above to review the payment methods available to you.

In some cases, certain payment methods may be temporarily unavailable while Google Ads reviews your account’s eligibility to use them.

Some payment methods can't be used with currencies other than your country's official currency. If you're paying in a foreign currency, check our payment options to find which payment methods can be used with your currency.

Available payment methods

The payment methods available for you to pay for Google Ads depend on your currency and country selection, and sometimes also your payment settings (manual, automatic or monthly invoicing). Below are all of the currently available payment methods available in your country (make sure the correct country is selected in the dropdown above). For a precise list of what's available for your country and currency, check the payment options tool.

Note: The payment options below are the only ones available at the moment. In some cases, certain payment methods may be temporarily unavailable while Google Ads reviews your account’s eligibility to use them.

Available payment methods

Boleto is temporarily unavailable for new Google Ads accounts in Brazil. Advertisers will not be able to sign up using this payment method and will not find the option (or it will be grayed out if they use Boleto for other Google products) in the Google Ads interface. Existing customers using cards, PIX or Mercado Pago as a form of payment will not be able to make Boleto payments either.

This change doesn't apply to accounts on Monthly Invoicing.

Available payment methods

With this payment method, Google deducts your payments for Google Ads directly from your bank account.

How it works

If you use the automatic payment setting, we'll automatically charge your bank account after you've accrued advertising costs. You'll be billed 30 days after your last automatic payment, or when your costs reach a certain amount (known as your billing threshold), whichever comes first.

If you use the manual payment setting, you can manually make a payment and we'll charge your bank account.

Setup

To use this payment method, you'll need to first save payment information in your Google Ads account and then verify your bank account. This process will vary depending on your country. Here's how to set up a bank account as your payment method:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Payment methods under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Add a new payment method.
  3. Select Add bank account, fill out your bank information, and agree to the terms and conditions provided.
  4. Select Save.
  5. To make this your primary payment method, make sure the box is checked next to "Set this payment method as primary".

What to expect

  • It can take several days to process your payment.
  • If your account is new, your ads will run after you've verified your bank account. If you'd like your ads to show in the meantime, you can use a credit card to pay for costs.
  • If your account isn't new, just assign your bank account as a primary payment method. Again, it'll work after your bank account is verified.
  • If you don't want your ads to run immediately after your bank account is verified, be sure to pause your campaigns.
  • Keep all records of a payment until it reaches your Google Ads account.
  • Bank accounts that support disbursements only (for example, Payoneer) are not accepted for payment.

To use a credit or debit card on this payment setting, follow the steps below:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment.
  3. Open the "Pay with" dropdown and choose Add new payment method.
  4. Enter the amount you'd like to pay, then select Make a payment to review and finish your payment.
  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment.
  3. Select the existing payment method.
  4. Enter the amount you'd like to make a payment for, then select Review payment to review and finish your payment.

In addition to regular credit cards, you can also use a one-time use credit card (also known as virtual credit card). It's commonly used as an alternative to physical credit cards when making online payments. Google Ads accepts these credit cards as long as they have a Visa, MasterCard, or China UnionPay logo. If you don't have a physical credit card, contact your bank.

Steps to use a one-time use credit card:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment.
  3. Open the "Pay with" drop-down and choose Add new payment method, then enter your one-time use credit card information.
  4. Enter the amount you'd like to make a payment for, then select Make a payment to review and finish your payment. Be sure to include $1 USD more than your payment amount for card verification.

What to expect

In some cases, Google Ads may test a small charge on your card to make sure it's valid. You won't actually pay that test amount, but the amount of your payment will be reduced by it. For example, if you decide to charge $300 USD to your card, Google Ads may make a test charge of $1 USD and your card will be charged $299 USD to run ads.

Just like physical credit cards, your ads will start serving almost immediately after you've made a payment.

After your one-time use card's expiration date or credit limit is reached, be sure to generate another one-time use card and enter the information in your account for future payments. Otherwise, your payment could be declined. For all other payment declines, contact your local banks.

Keep all records of a payment until it reaches your Google Ads account.

In addition to certain types of credit cards, we also accept debit cards with AMEX, JCB, Visa, or MasterCard logo. You can use a credit or debit card no matter if you're on automatic payments (you're automatically charged after your ads run) or manual payments (you put funds into your account before your ads run). Here's how to do it, based on the payment setting of your account:

Note: If your card issuer or bank is in the European Economic Area, they may require you to go through an additional authentication process, such as a one-time code sent to your phone, to verify the ownership of your card. Your card issuer or bank may require this extra verification when you make a payment, add a new credit or debit card, or at the card issuer or bank’s discretion.

Google complies with the new security requirements imposed on banks and payment processors by the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) in the European Economic Area. If you have any questions, contact your card issuer or bank.

Make a payment with a one-time use credit card

In addition to regular credit cards, you can also use a one-time use credit card (also known as virtual credit card). It's commonly used as an alternative to physical credit cards when making online payments. Google Ads accepts these credit cards as long as they have a Visa or MasterCard logo.

In addition to certain types of credit cards, we also accept debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo. You can use a credit or debit card no matter if you're on automatic payments (you're automatically charged after your ads run) or manual payments (you put funds into your account before your ads run). Here's how to do it, based on the payment setting of your account:

Get started

To make changes to your payment methods, you must have Admin or Edit Payment profile permission.

If your card issuer or bank is in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to complete an additional authentication process. For example, you may receive a one-time code on your phone to verify the ownership of your card. Your card issuer or bank may require this extra verification when you make a payment, add a new credit or debit card, or at the card issuer or bank’s discretion.

Google complies with the new security requirements imposed on banks and payment processors by the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) in the EEA. If you have any questions, contact your card issuer or bank directly.

Automatic payments

Note: Google does not accept prepaid cards for automatic payments.

Google Ads accepts these credit cards as long as they have a Visa or MasterCard logo.

  1. Complete your KYC (‘Know Your Customer’ Verification Process) and update your biometric data with your bank. This is a requirement for all cardholders in Vietnam as of January 1, 2025.
  2. Ensure access to the phone number registered with your card, as the authentication code (OTP) is usually sent to that number.
  3. Maintain sufficient balance in your account.
  4. Check with your bank for any account limits (daily or per transaction).
  5. Activate your card and enable it for online transactions through your bank's website or application.

You can use a credit card for both, automatic payments (you're automatically charged after your ads run) and manual payments (you add funds into your account before your ads run). Your credit card company or bank must approve the card for international use.

Credit card payments in Argentina are billed out of Google LLC (as Google Argentina doesn’t support local card payments yet). This means that, if your account is set to manual payments and an international credit card is selected as form of Payment, you will not receive local statutory documents. However, you can pay using Banelco and PagoMisCuentas.com instead to receive your local document.

Making payments through Banelco and PagoMisCuentas.com is available only to Google Ads accounts that have a billing address in Argentina and the Argentine Peso (ARS) as the selected currency. If you select Banelco or PagoMisCuentas.com as your account's payment method, you'll be able to make payments in 4 ways:

  • At an ATM in the Banelco network
  • On the PagoMisCuentas.com website
  • Through your bank's online banking service
  • In the counters available for cash payments

After you choose this payment method, your Google Ads account will be assigned a unique reference number. Make sure to include this number whenever making a payment so that we can match the funds to your account. Payments will typically reach your Google Ads account within 3-5 business days.

To make a payment through Banelco, you must have an account with a bank in the Banelco network, except if you make cash payments in one of the available counters.

Following are the participating banks:

  • Banex
  • Standard Bank
  • BBVA Banco Francés
  • Citibank
  • Comafi
  • Del Sol
  • Galicia
  • HSBC
  • Itaú
  • Macro
  • Patagonia
  • Regional del Cuyo
  • Santander Río
  • Supervielle
  • Banco Bisel
  • Banco Tucumán Grupo Macro

The steps for making a payment vary based on whether you pay by ATM, website, your bank's online banking service, or at one of the counters for cash payments. You'll be able to use the first 3 options only if you have an account with a bank in the Banelco network. If you know your reference number, you don't need to sign in to your Google Ads account first.

The minimum payment amount per deposit is 30ARS. All applicable taxes will be deducted from your payment, and your account will be credited with the remaining balance within 3-5 business days.

Your Google Ads account has a unique reference number for use with Banelco or PagoMisCuentas.com. You need to include this number when you make a payment so that we can match the funds to your account. If you don't include your reference number with your payment, your payment will be lost.

    .
  2. Select Make a payment.

Your payment setting determines whether you can use both credit cards and debit cards to pay for Google Ads:

  • If you’re on automatic payments (you're automatically charged after your ads run), you can use either credit cards or debit cards.
  • If you’re on manual payments (you add funds into your account before your ads run), you can use debit cards only.

Google Ads accepts the following credit and debit cards:

  • Credit cards: Google Ads accepts Visa and MasterCard credit cards.
  • Debit cards: Google Ads accepts debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo.
Note: You can also add a RuPay credit or debit card as a payment method for your manual payment, after you've completed your Google Ads account signup.

Below instructions on how to add a credit or debit card to your account (note that you’ll have to register and verify your card), as well as instructions for other tasks.

Register, verify, make payments with, or remove your credit or debit card

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requires all online credit and debit card transactions to be processed using enhanced security procedures. This extra step, which includes credit and debit card verification, helps ensure that your card isn't misused.

You can complete this step when you add a credit or debit card to your Google Ads account. We'll help you connect with your bank to authenticate your card, and we'll confirm whether or not it was successful. Open the section below for the steps:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Payment methods under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Add payment method.
  3. Select Credit or debit card.
  4. Enter your credit or debit card information.
  5. Select Continue. A pop-up message will appear, asking for permission to send you to your bank's website to verify your credit card.
  6. Select Verify credit or debit card to continue.
  7. A new browser window will open, sending you to the bank that issued your card. The steps to verify your card varies by bank, but you might find a purchase amount for ₹2.00 INR. This is just a temporary authorization, not an actual charge.
  8. If you successfully verified your card, you'll find a message letting you know. Close the window to move on to your Google Ads account.
  9. You'll be taken to your Payment methods page, where you'll find your card information.

The verification process typically takes a few minutes, and you only have to do it once when you first add a card to your account. Registered cards can be used for both automatic and manual payments.

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment.
  3. If you've registered a credit or debit card, select the one that you'd like to make a payment with. If you'd like to use new credit or debit card, select Add payment method and follow the process outlined in the previous section.
  4. Enter your payment amount and select Proceed.

Usually, after you've made a payment, it's immediately processed. But it can take up to 24 hours to be credited on your account.

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Manage payment methods.
  3. Then find the credit or debit card that you'd like to remove. Just remember that you can't remove a credit or debit card used as your primary payment method until you've added a new payment method and designated that as your primary.

What to expect (automatic payments)

If you've set up your account on the automatic payments setting and registered a credit card, you'll be charged after your ads run and you accrue advertising costs. Note that you can’t set up automatic payments with a debit card. After you add a credit card as a primary payment method to your account, the card's automatically charged after your advertising costs reach a predetermined amount or 30 days after your last automatic charge, whichever comes first.

Keep all records of a payment until it reaches your Google Ads account.

Note: Google does not accept prepaid cards for automatic payments.

  6. Print this page and take it to your bank. If you cannot print it, write the Google Bank Account Details and take them to your bank. The Google bank account number is unique to your Google Ads account and will be needed when you conduct the transfer at your bank. If you plan on transferring funds to several Google Ads accounts, you'll need unique Google Bank Account Details for each one.
Important
  • You must include unique Google Bank Account Details for each Google Ads account for which you'd like to make a money transfer. Otherwise, we cannot process your payment.
  • Make sure the Google Bank Account Details you include are correct. If you include the wrong Google Bank Account Details, your payment may go to someone else's Google Ads account. We won't be able to reverse or transfer the payment to the correct account.

You can get a pro forma invoice before initiating a money transfer only if you meet these criteria:

  • You signed up for Google Ads as a legal entity (Individual entrepreneur or Business).
  • Your account uses manual payments by money transfer.
  • Your account has a Russian billing address.

The pro forma invoice will contain details about your intended payment and the service that Google Ads provides.

    .
  2. Select Make a payment.

  4. Print this page and take it to your bank. If you can’t print it, write down the Google Bank Account Details and take them to your bank. This number is unique to your Google Ads account and will be needed when you conduct the transfer at your bank. If you plan on transferring funds to several Google Ads accounts, you'll need unique Google Bank Account Details for each one.

Note

Pro forma invoices are not stored in your account and are not proof of payment. After you complete a payment by money transfer, a receipt will be available on your Transaction history page. To get there, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
. Go there now

VAT invoices and Act of Acceptance documents will automatically be sent to legal entities each month.

What to expect

After we receive your money transfer, your ads will typically start running if they had stopped or if this is your first payment. If you're refreshing your balance, your ads will continue running.

Processing time: 2-3 business days, depending on your location. In some cases, it can take up to 10 days. That's because a money transfer depends on a few factors, including local bank processes. Keep all records of a payment until it reaches your Google Ads account.

Delays

If your money transfer is taking too long, there are a couple things you can do to check that your payment is on its way:

  • Check that your funds have been withdrawn from your bank account. If they haven't, contact your bank.
  • Check with your bank that the funds were transferred to the correct account. The Google Ads bank account number should be the same as the one listed in our payment instructions (generated when you made a money transfer payment in your Google Ads account).

If it's been over 3 business days since you initiated the transfer and the payment still isn't reflected in your account, you can contact us. You'll need to attach a valid proof of payment with this contact form.

A valid proof of payment follows these guidelines:

  • It can be a scanned copy of your receipt or a screenshot of your bank's online statement.
  • It must be in an uneditable format, such as .jpg, .gif, .pdf, or .png.
  • It must include the following information:
    • The date the transfer was made. If possible, show all transactions for 5 days before and after the payment.
    • The amount and currency of the payment.
    • The beneficiary of the funds.
    • The name of the bank you used.
  • For your security, black out any sensitive information on your bank statement, particularly your entire bank account number.

With money transfer, you can add money to your Google Ads account by transferring money from your bank account. You can use this payment method only if you signed up for it when you created your Google Ads account.

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment. Make sure "Money transfer" is selected, then select Make a payment.
  3. You'll find options for 2 different types of money transfers: ATM or online money transfers, and offline money transfers.
  4. If you make your money transfer online or by using an ATM, use the unique virtual bank account number and bank code in the Option 1 instructions. ATM payments have an NT$30,000.00 per-day or per-transaction limit, depending on the ATM.
  5. If you make your money transfer offline (by visiting a bank branch in person), use the customer name, unique virtual bank account number, beneficiary name, and beneficiary bank and branch name in the Option 2 instructions.

It's important that you make all money transfer payments using the exact information listed on the instructions. If you don't, we may not receive your payment or may not be able to match the payment to your Google Ads account.

What to expect

After we receive your money transfer, we'll send you an email. You ads will typically start running then if they had stopped or if this is your first payment. If you're refreshing your balance, your ads will continue running.

Processing time: 2-5 business days, depending on your location. In some cases, it can take up to 30 days.

The account number should be the same as the one listed in our payment instructions (generated when you made a money transfer payment in your Google Ads account).

If it's been over one week since you initiated the transfer and the payment still hasn’t reflected in your account, you can contact us. You'll need to attach a valid proof of payment with this contact form.

A valid proof of payment follows these guidelines:

  • It can be a scanned copy of your receipt or a screenshot of your bank's online statement.
  • It must be in an uneditable format, such as .jpg, .gif, or .png.
  • It must include the following information:
    • The date the transfer was made. If possible, show all transactions for 5 days before and after the payment.
    • The amount and currency of the payment.
    • The beneficiary of the funds (that's Google Google Ads).
    • The name of the remitting bank.
  • For your security, black out any sensitive information on your bank or credit card statement, particularly your entire bank account number or the middle 8 digits of your credit card number.

Money transfer allows you to make payments through money transfer, either online or in person at your bank or post office. The funds typically will be credited to your account within 5 business days of initiating a payment. Your ads will typically start running at that point, if they weren't already.

Here's how to make a payment by money transfer:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment.
  3. Select Money transfer.
  4. Enter the amount you'd like to make a payment for, keeping in mind that the minimum payment is UAH 200.
  5. Select Make a payment.

If you can't print it, write down the Google IBAN number and take them to your bank. The Google IBAN number is unique to your Google Ads account and will be needed when you conduct the transfer at your bank. If you plan on transferring funds to several Google Ads accounts, you'll need the unique Google IBAN number for each one.

Note:

  • Include the unique Google IBAN number for each Google Ads account for which you'd like to make a money transfer. Otherwise, we can't process your payment.
  • Make sure the Google IBAN number you include is correct. If you include the wrong Google IBAN number, your payment may go to someone else's Google Ads account. We won't be able to reverse or transfer the payment to the correct account.
  • All applicable taxes will be subtracted from your prepayment.
  • Keep all records of a payment until you find that the funds have reached your Google Ads account. This typically takes up to 5 business days.

You can get a pro forma invoice before initiating a money transfer only if your account uses manual payments by money transfer and has a Ukrainian billing address. The pro forma invoice has details about your intended payment and the service that Google Ads provides. Pro forma invoices are not proof of payment.

Pro forma invoices are generated each time you select "Make a payment" in all accounts. The pro forma invoice is part of the page you can print and take to your bank (step 6 above). However, they're stored and available for download only for accounts with "Legal entity" or "Individual entrepreneur" tax status. Here's how to find your pro forma invoices:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. You'll find your pro forma invoice in the table, under the month the payment was received.

Other documents

  • VAT invoices will be automatically mailed to VAT-registered Legal entities and VAT-registered Individual entrepreneurs after each payment.
  • Acts of Acceptance will be automatically mailed to all Legal entities and Individual entrepreneurs each month.
  • VAT invoices and Acts of Acceptance are also available for downloading on your "Transaction history" page. To get there, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .

To use a credit or debit card on this payment setting, follow the steps below:

  1. In your Google Ads account, go to Summary under the Billing menu 👁 Billing Icon
    .
  2. Select Make a payment.
  3. Open the "Pay with" dropdown and choose Add credit or debit card.

Google Ads accepts these credit cards as long as they have a China UnionPay logo.
