Manage volume and LED brightness with Night mode
You can lower the volume of your voice assistantβs responses and dim the brightness of your Google smart speaker or displayβs lights to minimize disturbances.
Step 1. Turn on Night mode
- Open the Google Home app π Image
. - At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.

Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.
- If you need to switch accounts, tap the drop down π Image
π and then
another account or Add another account.
- If you need to switch accounts, tap the drop down π Image

Turn on Enable night mode.
Step 2. Schedule Night mode

Under "Downtime begins," tap the time π and then
choose the time π and then
tap OK. -
Under "Downtime ends," tap the time π and then
choose the time π and then
tap OK. -
Tap the day(s) of the week you want Night mode on.
Other settings
Do not disturb
When Night mode's on, you can mute notifications and boot up sounds. Timers and alarms will still ring.
To turn on do not disturb, turn the slider on π Toggle On Switch

LED brightness at night
Important:
The underglow light on the Google Home Speaker (2026) canβt be turned off when the microphone is on. You can only dim it to your preference. Learn more about the indicator when the microphone is listening.
- To dim the lights on your speaker or display, drag the slider to the left.
- To brighten the lights on your speaker or display, drag the slider to the right.
Maximum volume at night
- To lower the maximum volume of your voice assistant at night, drag the slider to the left.
- To raise the maximum volume of your voice assistant at night, drag the slider to the right.
