Install Nest Cam (wired)
The Google Home app will walk you through installation with detailed instructions when you set up your Google Nest Cam (wired).
You have 2 choices for installation:
- Place it on a flat surface like a table or shelf.
- Mount it with the screw on a wall or other surface.

How To Install Your Indoor Nest Cam (wired)
Before you begin
Make sure you have what you need:
- Your Nest Cam (wired)
- A Google Account
- A 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless internet connection Learn about internet bandwidth & speed requirements for Nest cameras.
- A compatible mobile phone and updated to:
- Android phone or tablet with Android 9.0 or later
- iPhone or iPad with iOS 17.0 or later
- Your Bluetooth turned on
- Latest version of the Google Home app
- Nest Cam camera with base
- Power adapter
- Wall screws
- Wall anchors
- Cable clip
- Quick start guide
- Safety and warranty document
Tools for wall or ceiling installation
Your camera comes with all parts you need to install it on a wall or ceiling. You may also need these tools:
- Screwdriver
- Power drill
- Drill bit for pilot holes: 3/32” (2 mm)
- Drill bit for wall anchors: ¼” (6.5 mm)
- Drill bit for hole to pass power cable through a wall: ½“ (13 mm)
- Ladder
Install your camera
Step 1: Add your Nest cam (wired) to the Google Home app
Step 2: Choose how to install your camera
The stand provides continuous power, which is required to get 24/7 video history if you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription.
To install the Nest cam with the stand:
- Attach one end of the charging cable to the stand and plug the other end into the power outlet.
- Connect the camera to the magnetic base of the stand.
- Adjust the camera angle, then proceed to the next step once the customer is satisfied.
The included screws can firmly hold the camera on a vertical surface like a wall or ceiling.
- Twist and pull the wall plate off the camera base.
- Use the included screws to attach the camera where you want. If you drill pilot holes, use a 7/64 in (3 mm) bit, or a 1/4 in (6 mm) bit if you’re using the wall anchors.
- Turn the camera head 180 degrees then feed the cable through the gaps in the plate.
- Twist the camera back onto the wall plate.
Tip: If you can’t get the angle you want, twist the camera off the plate and turn it 180 degrees, then reattach it to the plate.
