Manage & delete your Gemini for Home activity
Important: You can find your Gemini for Home activity only after youโve updated to the new Gemini for Home voice assistant. Gemini for Home is rolling out gradually. Youโll receive a notification when itโs available to you.
What does the Home History setting control?
Your Gemini for Home activity, such as voice assistant queries, saves to your Home History in My Activity. When you enable Voice Match and turn on Home History, Google stores your Gemini for Home activity in your Google Account. By default, your activity saves for 18 months. You can turn this off or change how long your activity is saved by going to Home History in My Activity. You can review your activity, delete your Gemini for Home activity, and turn off Home History at any time.
When Home History is on, Google uses your activity to develop and improve its services, including training generative artificial intelligence (AI) models. For more info about your Gemini for Home data and how you can manage it, go to the Google Home & Nest Privacy Hub.
Manage your Gemini for Home activity
You can find your Gemini for Home activity in the Google Home app or in My Activity from your browser. You can find details on specific activities, turn Home History on or off, or delete specific activities from your history.
Check your Gemini for Home activity
From the Google Home app
- Open the Google Home app ๐ Image
. - At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Tap Home settings ๐ Image
. - Under โHome featuresโ, tap Privacy ๐ and then
Home History.
From your computer or browser
Turn Home History on or off
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/home.
- Turn Home History on or off.
- When you turn Home History off:
- Select Turn off.
- Choose Turn off or Turn off and delete activity.
- If you choose Turn off and delete activity, follow the steps to select and confirm what activity you want to delete.
- When you turn Home History off:
Delete your Gemini for Home activity
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/home.
- Choose the Gemini for Home activity you want to delete. You can choose:
- All your Gemini for Home activity: Above your activity, click Delete ๐ Image
๐ and then
All time. - The last hour or day: Above your activity, click Delete ๐ Image
๐ and then
Last hour or Last day. - A specific time period: Above your activity, click Delete ๐ Image
๐ and then
Custom range. - A specific day: Next to the day, click the ๐ Image
next to the date. - A specific activity: Next to the activity, click the ๐ Image
next to the activity item.
- All your Gemini for Home activity: Above your activity, click Delete ๐ Image
- If you accidentally delete something, you have a few seconds to tap CANCEL at the bottom left of the screen.
Change Auto-delete settings
By default, your Home History older than 18 months is auto-deleted. You can turn off Auto-delete or change the auto-delete period to 3 or 36 months.
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/home.
- Near the top, click Deleting activity older than โฆ months or Choose an auto-delete option.
- Choose how long your Gemini for Home activity is kept or select Donโt auto-delete activity.
- Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
Improve Google services with voice, audio and Gemini Live recordings
Important: This setting is off by default. To turn on this setting, you must turn on Home History.
You can let Google use your voice, audio and Gemini Live recordings to improve and develop its services, including training generative AI models.
To turn on this setting:
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/home.
- If Home History is off, click Off ๐ and then
Turn on.
- If Home History is off, click Off ๐ and then
- Check the box next to Improve Google services with your voice, audio, and Gemini Live recordings.
- Once youโve read the explanation of what this means, click Turn on.
You can turn off this setting at any time.
How your Home History is deleted from your Google Account
When you choose to delete activity manually or it deletes automatically, Google immediately starts the process to remove it from the product and our systems.
First, we aim to immediately remove it from view. Then, we begin a process designed to safely and completely delete the data from our storage systems.
