Change Wi-Fi password
You can update your Nest Wifi or Google Wifi password in the Google Home app. Network passwords are alphanumeric. This means theyโre a combination of letters and numbers. But there are some restrictions:
- Passwords must be between 8 and 63 characters.
- No spaces. Make sure there isnโt an accidental space at the beginning or end of your network name or password.
If you change your network Wi-Fi password, all your devices will be disconnected from Wi-Fi until you update those devices with the new password. If you forget to update your password on a device, the Google Home app will provide a network insight after 7 days to let you know a device canโt connect.

Reuse an older network name and password
If you reuse a network name and password from an old router, you wonโt have to reconnect devices that were previously on the network.
Note: If your old router is still broadcasting a Wi-Fi network, you might experience odd behavior because some devices will be connected to your Wifi router or point and others connected to your older router. Enable bridge mode on your old router or if itโs not needed, turn off your older router to fix this issue.
