Connect your Pixel Tablet to a hotspot

You can use your phone's mobile data to connect your Pixel Tablet to the Internet when you don't have access to a Wi-Fi network. When you share a connection this way, it's called tethering or using a hotspot.

Some mobile data providers limit data usage or charge extra when you tether to other devices. We recommend that you check with your provider before you activate these features.

Connect your Pixel Tablet to your Android phone's hotspot with Wi-Fi

1. Turn on your Android phoneโ€™s hotspot

  1. On your Android phone, swipe down from the top of your screen.
  2. Tap Hotspot ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
    1. If you donโ€™t find Hotspot ๐Ÿ‘ Image
      , at the bottom left, tap Edit ๐Ÿ‘ Image
      and drag Hotspot ๐Ÿ‘ Image
      into your Quick Settings.
Tip: If youโ€™ve never used your Android hotspot before, tap and hold Hotspot ๐Ÿ‘ Image
in Quick Settings to change your hotspot name, password, and settings. Learn more about hotspots on Android.

2. Connect your Pixel Tablet to your Android phoneโ€™s hotspot

  1. On your Pixel Tablet, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Internet ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    tap the name of your Android phoneโ€™s hotspot.

Tether your Pixel Tablet to your Android phone with Bluetooth

1. Turn on Bluetooth on your Android phone and Pixel Tablet

  1. On your Android phone and Pixel Tablet, open the Settings app ๐Ÿ‘ Settings app
    .
  2. Tap Connected Devices ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Connection preferences ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Bluetooth.
  3. Turn on Use Bluetooth.

2. Turn on Bluetooth tethering on your Android phone

  1. On your Android phone, open the Settings app ๐Ÿ‘ Settings app
    .
  2. Tap Network & internet ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Hotspot & tethering.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth tethering.

3. Pair your Pixel Tablet to your Android phone

  1. On your Pixel Tablet, open the Settings app ๐Ÿ‘ Settings app
    .
  2. Tap Connected Devices ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Pair new device.
  3. Tap the name of your Android phone ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Pair.
    • Note: If you get a prompt on either device, tap it to finish pairing.
  4. Your Android phoneโ€™s internet connection will automatically be shared with your Pixel Tablet once you pair your devices successfully.

Tether your Pixel Tablet to your Android phone with a USB cable

1. Connect your devices with a USB cable

  1. If you have a Charging Speaker Dock, undock your Pixel Tablet. Learn how to undock your Pixel Tablet
  2. Use a USB cable to connect your Pixel Tablet to your Android phone.

2. Turn on USB tethering on your Android phone

  1. On your Android phone, open the Settings app ๐Ÿ‘ Settings app
    .
  2. Tap Network & internet ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    Hotspot & Tethering ๐Ÿ‘ and then
    turn on USB tethering.
  3. Your Android phoneโ€™s internet connection will automatically be shared with your Pixel Tablet.
