Fix problems loading a book

Use this page to troubleshoot if your book:
  • Doesn’t download
  • Doesn’t open
  • Won’t load a page
If you use a Google Account managed by your work or school, books may not load. Contact your organization's technical staff for more information.

Step 1: Check your connection and updates

  1. Make sure your Android phone or tablet is connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile network.
  2. Check that your Play Books app is updated to the latest version.

Step 2: Remove & re-download the book

  1. To remove the ebook or audiobook, on the cover, tap More πŸ‘ More
      πŸ‘ and then
     Remove download.
  2. To reload and open the ebook or audiobook, tap More πŸ‘ More
      πŸ‘ and then
     Download πŸ‘ Download
    .

Step 3: Reload the Google Play Books app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Books app πŸ‘ Play Books
    .
  2. To reload the app, from the top of the homepage, pull down.

Step 4: Clear your app data

  1. Open the Play Books app πŸ‘ Play Books
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
  3. Next to your name, tap the Down arrow πŸ‘ Down arrow
    .
  4. Tap Manage accounts on this device πŸ‘ and then
     Remove from this device πŸ‘ and then
     Remove.
  5. Tap Sign in πŸ‘ and then
    Continue. Follow the prompts to sign back in.
