What you can do with your Google Play balance

Limitations

  • Play balance cannot be used to purchase hardware in the gStore, nor to top up your GPay or other payment method.
  • Play balance can't be used to buy Google Play or specialty gift cards on the Google Play app.
  • You can use your balance to buy content that’s sold in the same currency as your balance.
    • Example: If you redeem an Australian gift card in AUD, you can't use it in Germany since the purchase in Germany would be in Euros.
  • It's not possible to share or transfer content between accounts on Google Play, even if you own both accounts. If you have multiple accounts on your device, make sure you sign in to the account you want to use before you complete your purchase.

Tips:

  • If you’ve bought an app on the wrong account, contact the app developer. They may be able to refund your purchase so you can buy it again on the account you wanted to use.
  • You can share apps and digital content with your family with Google Play Family Library.

Country-specific availability

To see what you can buy with your Google Play balance, select your country below. The maximum limits are for any given time, unless specified otherwise.

Important: As of February 1, 2026, Google Play Gift Cards and prepaid Play Balance have expired in Malaysia. You are no longer able to spend your prepaid Play Balance, but you can request a refund by contacting Google Play support.

The other forms of payment that Google Play accepts are:

  • Credit or debit cards
  • Mobile phone billing
  • E-wallets
  • Online Banking

If you only have Google Play Balance as a form of payment, you can add other forms of payment method to your Google Account.

Tip: Promotional Google Play Balance will still be issued or held with applicable expiry dates. Check your remaining Play Balance.
