How to change your Google Play country

Important: After you initially set your Google Play country, you must wait at least 90 days before you can change it. You must also wait at least 90 days between each subsequent change to your Google Play country. In some cases, additional restrictions may apply.

Your Google Play country or region determines what content you find in the store and in apps. The apps, games, and other content in the store and in apps can vary by country or region.

  • To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location and have a payment method from the new country or region.
  • If you’re a member of a Google Family group, you can’t change your Google Play country or region.

What happens when you change your Google Play country

When you change your Google Play country or region, you may lose access to some books, movies, TV shows, games, and apps.

Your current subscriptions will remain active on your old payment profile unless the subscription is canceled.
To use the subscription in your new country, with your new payment profile, cancel your current subscription and subscribe to services or content.

Tips:

  • Some subscriptions may not be available in your new country or region.
  • Developers may also cancel your subscription if they don’t offer that subscription in your new country or region.

Your Google Play balance is linked to your Google Play country. When you change your country or region, you can't use the Google Play balance from your old country or region in your new country or region.

Your balance remains linked to your old country. If you change your Google Play country back to your old country, you can use that balance again.

Your Google Play Points are linked to your Google Play country. When you change countries, you'll lose all points and your level won't carry over to your new country.

Your Google Play Pass subscription will continue to auto-renew.

If Play Pass is available in your new country: Your access remains the same.

If Play Pass isn't available: You’ll still have access to apps installed on your device, but you won’t be able to browse or install additional Play Pass apps. Learn how to manage your Google Play Pass subscription.

Tip: Some apps aren't available in certain countries.
