You can use translated captions to translate to and from specific languages.

If you need subtitles in your meetings, learn how to use captions in Google Meet.

Important: We recently announced that Google AI features will be added directly to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans. As part of this announcement, customers with Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus editions can continue to use translated captions through their existing subscriptions.

Turn on translated captions

  1. On your computer, go to Google Meet.
  2. In your meeting, click More options πŸ‘ More
    πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ Settings
    πŸ‘ and then
    Captions πŸ‘ Image
    .
  3. Select Language of the meeting.
  4. Turn on Translated captions πŸ‘ Image
    .
  5. Select the language you prefer to translate into.

Tip: If you record a meeting, select Record captions to embed captions in the clip.

Customize captions

  1. On your computer, go to Google Meet.
  2. Join a meeting.
  3. At the bottom, click More πŸ‘ More
    πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Captions.
  4. Under β€œCustomize your captions,” choose your preferred settings:
    • Font
    • Font size
    • Font color
    • Background color
  5. Click Close πŸ‘ Image
    .

Tip: Your settings are automatically saved.

View past translated captions

If translated captions are turned on, you can review the translated captions of the previous parts of a conversation.

You can scroll up or down to review the translated captions. Translated captions only display for the parts of the conversation where you’re in the meeting and have captions turned on.
