Add and remove products from automated discounts
This article describes how to add and remove products if you previously Set up automated discounts in Merchant Center. If you previously set up automated discounts for use with Shopify, follow the steps to add and remove product attributes in Set up automated discounts on the Google & YouTube app on Shopify.
The more products you add to automated discounts, the more flexibility automated discounts have to optimize your gross profit.
The 2 ways to add or remove products for automated discounts are by updating product details in your data source or by selecting groups of products in automated discounts.Update product details in your data source
Update your product data source for each product that you want to add to, or remove from, automated discounts, as described in the following sections. Learn more about how to manage your data sources.
Changes to product details in your data source will be applied within 24 hours.
Add products to automated discounts
In your product data source, add cost of goods sold (COGS) [cost_of_goods_sold] and minimum price [auto_pricing_min_price] to the details for each product that you want to add to automated discounts.
Remove products from automated discounts
- In your product data source, remove the minimum price attribute
[auto_pricing_min_price]from the details of each product that you want to remove from automated discounts.
[cost_of_goods_sold] and value for any products that you remove from automated discounts.Update groups of products selected in automated discounts
- In your Merchant Center account, go to the Automated discounts tab in the “Marketing” section.
- In the “Automated discounts” page, go to the Product inventory coverage section and select Add or remove products.
- In the “Add products to automated discounts” page, go to the Add products to automated discounts section.
- (Optional) Select a filter from the Find products by drop-down list.
- From the drop-down list next to the filter, select groups of products by brand, product type, or label that you want to add or remove to automated discounts.
- In the Gross profit margin field, enter a value from 5%-95%. This is used to estimate your gross profit and to optimize prices in Shopping ads for all products that you select.
- In the Maximum discount field, enter a value from 5%-40%, but not higher than your gross profit margin. This is used to optimize prices for all products that you select.
- (Optional) To get the most accurate gross profit estimates and reports about your entire inventory, enter a percentage in the Fallback gross profit margin field. This is used when COGS isn’t available for products in your data source.
- Select Save.
The groups of products you selected will be added to automated discounts.
