Use the Pixel Screenshots app
Important:
- Your Screenshots app data and recent activity are protected in a secure, isolated environment on your device or in the cloud. Unless you give permission to share this data for some other purpose, it isn’t shared with apps or Google.
- Pixel Screenshots is currently only available on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold phones in English, German, and Japanese in the following countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- Germany
- India
- Ireland
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Singapore
- United Kingdom
- United States
- To access AI features, you must have a valid Google Account active on your phone. All AI features are disabled if you use an ineligible account.
Search your screenshots
You can use natural language to search your screenshots and take action by tapping one of the action chips. You can also add notes or reminders.
One of the actions available is exporting screenshots into NotebookLM for deeper analysis. To share screenshots to NotebookLM:
- Tap Add to NotebookLM action chip.
- Tap Share 👁 Image
👁 and then
NotebookLM.
Turn on Pixel Screenshots
When you set up your phone or in the app settings, you can turn on AI features to:
- Generate titles and summaries
- Get suggested actions
- Search for your screenshots
- Get suggestions to add to your collections
When you’re in the Pixel Screenshots app
- Open the Pixel Screenshots app.
- To open settings, at the top right of the home page, tap Settings 👁 Image
. - Turn on Search your screenshots with AI.
Analyze screenshots with NotebookLM
For deeper analysis, you can share several kinds of text screenshots to NotebookLM.
If a screenshot is eligible, you can tap Add to NotebookLM to share the screenshot from the preview.
To add a widget:
- Touch and hold on the home screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- At the bottom, you can select from featured, personal, or work-related widgets.
- Tap Pixel Screenshots 👁 and then
Add. - Resize the screenshot widget.
Now, if you open another app and take a screenshot, the screenshot widget shows a preview of it.
Share screenshots to NotebookLM
- Take a screenshot.
- In the screenshot options, tap Image to NotebookLM.
- Tap Create New.
- Select a source.
Set a reminder
To get notifications about specific screenshots, set reminders on each one.
- Open your Pixel Screenshots app.
- Tap a screenshot 👁 and then
👁 Image
. - Tap a schedule option.
Browse & search
With the Pixel Screenshots app, if you’ve turned on AI features, you can search for information across all of your saved screenshots.
- Open your Pixel Screenshots app.
- At the bottom, enter a search term.
Make a collection
To organize your screenshots, you can group them into collections.
There are 3 ways to create a new collection.
- From the collection view:
- From an existing saved screenshot or image:
- Select any saved image.
- Scroll to the bottom of the image details.
- Tap Add to collection.
- A pop-up will appear which allows you to either:
- Add to an existing collection.
- Create a new collection. To create a new one, tap New Collection.
- Tap Save.
- To label your collection, enter any name or title you prefer.
- Tap Done 👁 Image

- During screenshot capture:
- Take a screenshot.
- At the bottom left of the screen, tap on the screenshot thumbnail.
- Choose from 2 options:
- To add to an existing collection, scroll to the bottom of the screenshot pop-up view, then tap Add to collection.
- To create a new collection, tap New Collection.
- To label your collection, enter any name or title you prefer.
- Tap Done 👁 Image

Search within a collection
You can search for screenshots within a collection.
- At the bottom, in the “Search screenshots” field, enter the name of your screenshot.
- Tap Search 👁 Image
.
Show suggestions from your screenshots in other apps
Turn on this feature to view movie, music, product, location, and other text suggestions from your screenshots while you search in relevant apps.
- To show suggestions from screenshots:
- Open your Pixel Screenshots app.
- At the top right, tap Settings.
- Turn on Show suggestions from your screenshots in other apps.
- Take screenshots of shoppable products, movies, TV shows, music, songs, artists, albums, and locations like restaurants and cafes.
Tip: The feature will only work on screenshots that were processed after you installed the latest version of the Pixel Screenshots app. - After Pixel Screenshots has processed these screenshots, open the search bar in supported apps like YouTube Music, Google Maps, and more. The relevant suggestions should appear in Gboard’s Autofill bar as soon as the keyboard opens, and disappear when you start typing.
Troubleshooting
- Open your Pixel Screenshots app.
- At the top right, tap Settings.
- Turn off Search your screenshots with AI.
- Select Delete all AI summaries and metadata.
- Open your Pixel Screenshots app.
- At the top right, tap Settings.
- Turn Process over cellular on or off.
- Open your Pixel Screenshots app.
- Go to the Settings page.
- Check if Search your screenshots with AI is turned on.
If you can’t find the search bar, either the AI features are disabled or models are being downloaded.
To turn on the AI features, you’ll find a follow message card on the home page:
- Tap Settings 👁 Image
. - Turn on Search your screenshots with AI. This enables the AI search capability on your app.
Tip: If your model is still downloading, some AI features will be disabled until the download is complete.
If your screenshots aren't automatically processing, and you find a "Processing Paused" message on some images, please wait until bulk processing resumes. If you want to process specific screenshots immediately, tap Process now.
To process your screenshots while your phone isn’t in use, turn on Background app usage.
- Touch and hold the app icon.
- Tap App info 👁 and then
App battery usage. - Turn on Allow background usage.
Tip: If Background app usage is off, screenshots won’t be able to process while your phone is charging and idle.
Before you use the Pixel Screenshots app, you’ll need to update some apps.
- Go to the Google Play Store app.
- At the top right, tap on your avatar.
- Tap Manage apps & device 👁 and then
Updates available. - Update any of thepending apps:
- Android AICore
- Private Compute Services
- Pixel Screenshots
- Android System Intelligence
Screenshots not restored
Pixel Screenshots only supports device-to-device backup and restore. If your Screenshots data is missing, please try restoring from another device.
