Manage Wireless Emergency Alerts

Your Pixel phone can notify you about public safety messages, like extreme weather warnings or AMBER Alerts. You can choose which types of alerts you want to receive.

Important: In some countries, like the United States, you cannot turn off certain national alerts, such as presidential announcements.

Turn specific alerts on or off

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications 👁 and then
    Wireless Emergency Alerts.
  3. Choose which types of alerts you want to turn on or off. Common alerts include:
    • Extreme threats
    • Severe threats
    • AMBER Alerts
    • Public safety messages

Tip: Depending on your region, you may also have an option for state and local tests.

Change alert preferences

You can control the sound and vibration for these alerts.

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications 👁 and then
    Wireless Emergency Alerts.
  3. You can change these settings:
    • Vibration: Turn vibration on or off for alerts.
    • Alert reminder: You can choose to have a reminder sound play once, every 2 minutes, every 15 minutes, or not at all.
