Fix issues with setting up your watch
If youβve synced your watch and phone before, you might need to complete extra steps to set them up again.
First, make sure your phone and watch are:

It takes too long to set up my watch
You might need to wait several minutes for your watch and phone to share info.
If you still find βGetting watch detailsβ or βFinishingβ¦β on your phone after 20 minutes, try the steps below.
Check that your watch works with your iPhone
Find out if your iPhone works with Wear OS.
Check for iPhone updates
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- Tap General π and then
Software Update. - If there is an update available, tap to install.
Check for Wear OS app updates
- On your iPhone, open the App Store app.
- At the bottom right, tap Updates.
- If you find the Wear OS app listed under βPending Updates," tap Update.
Set up your watch and phone again
After you update your phone or app, try to set up your devices again.
- On your phone, open the Wear OS app π Wear OS by Google
or the companion app for your device. - At the top left, tap Menu π Menu
π and then
Set up a new watch. - To finish, follow the onscreen instructions.
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Check that Bluetooth is turned on.
Remove the watch from Bluetooth memory
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Next to the device you want to remove, tap Information π Information
π and then
Forget this device π and then
Forget device.
Set up your watch and phone again
After you update your phone or app, try to set up your devices again.
- On your phone, open the Wear OS app π Wear OS by Google
or the companion app for your device. - At the top left, tap Menu π Menu
π and then
Set up a new watch. - To finish, follow the onscreen instructions.
Turn your devices off and on again

On your watch, press the Power button for 15 seconds or until the watch shuts down.
- Restart your iPhone.

- On your iPhone, open the Wear OS app π Wear OS by Google
or the companion app for your device. - At the top left, tap Menu π Menu

Set up a new watch. - To finish, follow the onscreen instructions.
If you tried all of the solutions above and still have issues, disconnect your watch and reset it to factory settings. Then you can set up your watch from the beginning.
Important: When you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data on your watch are erased.
Reset your watch
- On your watch, press and hold the Power button to open the Settings panel.
- Scroll down and select Disconnect and reset π Disconnect and reset

Done π Done

Remove the watch from Bluetooth memory
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Next to the device you want to remove, tap Information π Information

Forget this device π and then
Forget device.
Set up your watch and phone again

or the companion app for your device. - At the top, tap the name of your watch π and then
Set up a new watch. - To finish, follow the onscreen instructions.
