Set default policies

Features described in this article only apply to users of YouTube Studio Content Manager. For info on general YouTube policies, learn more here.

Default policies are applied when a situation doesnโ€™t meet the conditions specified in a custom policy.

For example, YouTube applies your default upload policy to videos you upload to your channels. Content ID applies your default match policy when it claims videos for an asset that doesnโ€™t have a custom match policy.

Setting default policies speeds up the process of uploading and claiming content. You can set both default upload and default match policies.

If you donโ€™t select a default upload or match policy, the predefined policy Monetize in all countries is applied.

Set a default policy

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Policies ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  3. Find the policy you want to set as a default policy.
    • You can identify the current default policies by the Default upload label
      ๐Ÿ‘ Image
and Default match label ๐Ÿ‘ Image
      next to the policy names.
  4. In the right column, click the Select action ๐Ÿ‘ Image
     drop down.
  5. Select Set as default upload or Set as default match.
