Create a link or a code for joining a team in Microsoft Teams

Create a link

You can easily share a link to a channel.

  1. Hover over the channel you want to share and select More options 👁 More options button
      > Copy link  👁 Copy link icon for Teams
     . The link will be automatically copied to your clipboard.
  2. Paste the channel link in a chat or channel conversation to share it.

Note

Currently, guests can't join a team by using a link.

Create a code

When you send someone a code to join a team, they can join directly—you won’t receive a join request. You can use the code as many times as you want.

  1. At the top of your list of chats and channels, select More options 👁 More options button
     > Your teams and channels 👁 teams tab icon
     .
  2. Select the filter for Teams you own. 
  3. Choose the team you want to create a code for.
  4. Select the Settings tab. 
  5. Select Team code > Generate > Copy.
  6. Paste the code in a conversation to allow people to join the team directly.

Select Reset to create a new code.

Note

Currently, guests can't join a team by using a code.
