mood: determined
I've had a good routine going since this weekend. Dad and I lie on the bed and watch Blago's wife get tortured in the jungle... and then I speedwalk/jog/run for 40-50 minutes :3

WiiFit is going to be angry with me, though. I haven't done a body test in about four days. But damn you, Wii, I have been working out!

Pray for me. My sister bought a FLAT of cola from Sam's. And she intends to give some of it to us... as if we don't have enough soda already. D: Soda is my Achilles Heel it seems.

Happy!

music: Lithium - Nirvana
My Spanish teacher made a comment the other day, "Este semestre, eres flaca, chica. Have you been working out?"

Flaca translates to super skinny, which I'm not, but it was really flattering. I was floored and super happy. It's nice to know that these changes are noticable and all the blood, sweat, and tears are worth it.

Anyway, thus far this week:
Sunday - went to NIFS (IUPUI gym) and worked out for about an hour and a half, running, eliptical, and then stretching.
Tuesday - ran to and from class (about a mile-ish) and then fenced/strength trained/cardio for about a hour and a half (and I'm feeling the burn, our instructor is a sadist!)
Wednesday - Turbo Jammed for 40 mins

I plan to run the canal for the rest of the week if the weather stays as nice as it is (Thurs, Fri, and Sat), hopefully about 9 miles (3 miles per day)! Whoot! The only bad thing is that I've chowed down big time at dinner a few times - what I need to do is eat a big lunch and a smaller dinner for maximum results!

And I should have my "Biggest Loser"-esque picture up when I find my camera.

best workout ever

location: Indianapolis
mood: 👁 contemplative

music: alternately blogging and watching the summer sisterhood
Walk 3 miles down a beach...in the sand (which is like a broken ankle waiting to happen)...you won't be able to stand the next day...which is cool if you are a masochist...YAY!

***

On another note, this community is kinda flailing. I shall try to sporadically post to keep it alive, because I'm trying to eat healthy, which failed at the beach, because I ate THE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD every night - no joke...and am trying to fit in exercise....walked to campus and back...about 3 miles again.

What is with me and 3 miles - NOT that that is a bad thing!

Anyway...this summer, like Kiko and maybe some others (raise your hand if you are out there), I shall endeavor to get fit! There is a pool a few blocks down that I'm going to try to check out. The only problems is that it might be a kiddy geared pool, which is kinda awkward when you are swimming laps. I guess the little tykes could be counted as obstacles? I dunno.

I'll bike too. And I want to hike, buuuuuut where I live isn't exactly prime hiking area.

But that is all I can really think of...that I WANT to do, mind you. Walking, swimming, biking, and eating healthy...its a start, but I would like to get more proactive, since its summer and I can. Any suggestions?

P90X

mood: 👁 chipper

music: CHERRY LIPS: Go baby go go
Don't know how many of you guys openly watch any infomercials. Not that I'm a big cad on them, but I did discover Turbo Jam through it. And while Turbo Jam has been a great workout, I feel as though it's a good -startup- workout. It just doesn't take me as deep as I'd like to go.

I know that I've got a fever to just keep going, and so I stumbled upon P90X, which is actually from the same Beach Body company, so it's credibility is much in my brain.

Basically it's design is "body confusion". The guy Tony (who has this leg workout that I did back in Jersey and he almost destroyed me. lmao The workouts are INTENSE.) basically has a series of workouts that you do to build, and the promise/guarantee is that you have an insanely sculpted body in just 90 days. The results were crazy with those before and after images. For someone like me who wants to get there right now and be ready for the future, it's beyond tempting. @.@

However, the only thing that throws me off is the price. (That being $140.00 roughly) I know the price would indicate how good it has to be, but on the budget that I'm on...I don't know if I can afford it. I know Turbo Jam cost me around $70.00, so I'm torn. @.@

I'm gonna really chew on this a while.

...in other news!

mood: busy
music: APARTMENT 26: Give Me More
Alright so I notice that I'm starting to have some changes in my body because of the exercise I've been enduring. For one on truck night I carried 8 bags of dog food in one arm and didn't feel it. Carol thought I was a freak.

Trouble is, as defined as I'm getting under everything, I've still got tons of fat that I need to burn so I can at least SEE what my efforts have given me. This is where my newest strategy comes to focus!

I'm going to go back to my old military days and exercise twice. Once when I get up, and once before I go to bed. Basically I'll get up, have my little routine, eat a healthy breakfast, have a medium-sized lunch, exercise in the evening, (or in my case, the morning before noon), have a very small dinner, and then sleep.

I'm also going to be trying that special K challenge. I know this works for a fact, and maybe that "up to 6 pounds" is just what I need to see some definition on this body of mine. Regardless, ever little bit helps at this point. I've still got most of the year to do this till next Ohayocon, but I'm determined, and I haven't deviated yet.

Now it's not to say that I haven't lost some weight, frankly I don't know because scales are the devil. But I have noticed that my jeans fit a lot looser, and that's always good.

Just thought I'd post my progress!

Heeeeey...let's not die....and Lent.

location: Marion County Library

Okay, with Lent and all the Catholic goodness upon us, I thought that it would be a good time to give myself an excuse to give something up. I know that I am not Catholic, but it is nice to know that myself and a bunch of other people out there are all giving up something or another together...for Jesus? lol :P

And I'm giving up meat...meaning that until Easter hits, I'm a vegetarian. Not vegan, mind you, I couldn't give up milk, eggs, and cheese if I tried. Soooo this should be interesting.

I've already rented some books from Borders and from the library, because if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it correctly (so Lauren I may come to you with some questions).

Starting date: February 6 (Ash Wednesday)
Ending date: March 23 (Holy Saturday, day before Easter)

And so begins the 40 days of what-in-the-world-was-I-thinking! Wish me luck!

* * *

Oh and I just checked out this other book, 21 Pounds in 21 Days. Okay, the title sounds drastic, but it is actually about detoxating the body...it sounds interesting and if nothing else, I'm sure I could get a few pointers...so I'm going to read it through, possibly give it a try, and update you all later.

I have failed at life...

mood: 👁 crazy

music: Sweet Child O Mine - Guns and Roses
Hello, my name is Claire....and I completely tanked this weekend at starting my overall fitnessy thing!

...oops

Well, my excuse is this: went to hang out at the cousins, which means there are massive amounts of junk food, chinese, and pizza involved! Blah...and no exercise...

NO, I TAKE THAT BACK...there was an hour or so of KYAA BALL*!
*see bottom entry for explanation

On the brightside: I drank massive amounts of agua this weekend! Which means I had to pee every other second - har har har! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit? And I did keep most of my portions small, ate many mini-meals, and when we did hit up the chinese buffet, I ate mostly pot-sticker soup, sans the pot-stickers. AND I gave up cake for my really late b-day celebration with my family, opting for a fruit pizza instead with all organic ingredients! XD

*KYAA BALLCollapse )

Claire's been cool enough to let me buddy-up, even though I know next to zilch about Sailor Moon/fukus (I'm sorry!). However, I'm actually serious about wanting to lose weight/get in better shape for once, and support is necessary. I figured I'd introduce myself to everyone:

Lauren
  • 19-20 (20 next Thursday, 17th)
  • college student at UIUC
  • studying English (Creative Writing) and Cinema Studies
  • enjoys music, writing, reading, film, photography, organizing, makeup, fashion, etcetera
  • they say it is good to put a face to a name

That's all I can think of. If anyone has questions (any, really!), go ahead and ask.

My Goals

mood: 👁 rejuvenated

music: Roses are Free - Phish
Hmmmmm...I thought about this long and hard, but I've finally compiled a list of what I'm committed to doing:

-Making healthy eating choices (that doesn't mean I'm going to cut all sweets out of my diet, or fast food for that matter, I'll just severely limit my intake...because it is not healthy to deny oneself completely :P)

[edit] This also includes me eating a heathy breakfast every morning!

-Drink 8+ glasses of water per day...and I guess I'll let one or two of those glasses be tea. And along with this I plan on drinking less coffee products (even though I work in a cafe)...just lots of liquids. AND NO ALCOHOL.

-Exercise 6 out of the 7 days in a week, any cardiovascular/muscle building, heart-pumping, activities for at least a half an hour...whether it be a combination of one or two...I really just need to stay active

-Get lots of sleep, preferably 7+....meaning I can't keep staying up 'til almost 3am...1am at the latest

QUESTION: Does biking to and from work (which totals about 20 mins, possibly more) count? Or should that only be sometime - because I do sweat and feel the burn....

My diet this week has been orange juice... and some sprite... and toast... oh yeah, and half a steak. I think being sick made me lose five pounds. When I feel better, I'm going to do more. Already eat pretty well, just need more exercizes.
