Join the Legacy Society
The Bulletin is deeply grateful for the foresight and generosity of Legacy Society members.
The Legacy Society honors individuals who have included the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in their estate plans, ensuring that our mission endures for future generations. As the global community faces escalating nuclear risk, accelerating climate change, and rapidly advancing technologies, the need for independent analysis and public engagement is as vital today as it was at the Bulletin’s founding. Membership in the Legacy Society is extended to anyone who notifies the Bulletin in writing that they have arranged a planned gift. These commitments may include a bequest through a will or revocable trust; charitable trusts; or naming the Bulletin as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, life insurance policy, or other financial asset.
The Bulletin is deeply grateful for the foresight and generosity of Legacy Society members. Their enduring commitment ensures our work continues to inform, engage, and safeguard generations to come.
What to give
Bequests may include cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, collectibles, or retirement-plan assets. Other assets may also be willed to the Bulletin. You can give a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate, or you can name the Bulletin as a residual beneficiary, meaning that the Bulletin would receive the remainder of your estate after all other bequests and taxes have been satisfied.
Sample bequest language
If you would like to remember the Bulletin through a bequest, it is important that the estate gift be correctly worded. Below is suggested language to use when drafting your bequest.
