@thekoreanvegan I got to spend a little time with my Dad last week (he came to California for my birthday). He’s 81 years old and although he’s mellowed in some ways, he’s still frustratingly obtuse and often says the wrong thing at the wrong time. The internet has, I think, created impossible standards for being a person. Parents, in particular, are subjected to absurd imperatives that no human could ever satisfy. It is, among others, one of the reasons I am sometimes grateful I don’t have children of my own. My father was not perfect and is not perfect and, in all honesty, I carry the wounds of that every single day. But my father has always loved me and wanted the best for ME. He always valued ME and JUST ME—not my duty or obligation or responsibility to my family, to a husband, to the world. Just me. Many people may view my videos as “man bashing,” but if you are paying attention, this video is quite the opposite. womenstories reallygoodsoup healthyrecipes

CBS’s The Dish with host Jeff Glor came to our house in Chicago in October 2021. We discussed my family story, going vegan, my videos, my first book, and Soondooboo Chigae! I had the best time chatting with Jeff and I love revisiting this piece to see our old kitchen and family room.
Appearing on The Rich Roll Podcast was a dream come true! Way back in 2015 (before we went vegan), Anthony and I read Rich’s amazing book, Finding Ultra, and subsequently became big fans of the RRP. Needless to say, Rich has had quite the influence on my life, so this was an absolute thrill, one of the highlights of my career.
I’ve loved PBS for as long as I can remember, so what a thrill it was to sit down with Jeffery Brown for PBS’ arts and culture series, CANVAS. In addition to my book, we chat about my videos and the immigrant story in the United States. Loved this one!
I’ve had the good fortune to appear on Live With Kelly and Mark (and earlier Kelly and Ryan) THREE times. I can’t believe it1 Here is the most recent one, from June 16, 2023, where I show Kelly and Mark how to make Korean BBQ “Meatball” sandwiches.
