Panel Discussion: “Devs and Ops people – It’s Time for Some Kubernetes Couples Therapy”

When: October 27 at 7:45 a.m. ET

Location: Room: 411 | Huntington Place

Thanks to our sponsor, Spectro Cloud, we’re discussing the relationship between developers and IT operations — do they really talk, or just swap trouble tickets? The relationship needs some work! Moderated and hosted by The New Stack’s Alex Williams, along with Heather Joslyn, features editor at The New Stack, we’ll explore how Kubernetes is shaping the dynamic between dev and ops teams with people who’ve been there.

Join our esteemed panel:

Aeris manages community outreach and engagement at Humanitec and PlatformEngineering.org. They also serve as a co-organizer for PlatformCon, the first-ever conference by and for platform engineers, and is a content curator for Platform Weekly, a community-driven email newsletter about all topics platform engineering and cloud native.

  • Liz Rice, Chief Open Source Officer, Isovalent

Liz is chief open Source officer with eBPF specialists Isovalent, creators of the Cilium cloud native networking, security and observability project. She was Chair of the CNCF’s Technical Oversight Committee in 2019-2022, and Co-Chair of KubeCon + CloudNativeCon in 2018. She is also the author of Container Security, published by O’Reilly.

As co-founder and CTO, Saad’s passion is leading teams that solve large-scale problems, using cutting-edge technologies in the areas of cloud, virtualization, containers, and distributed systems. In his twenty years of experience, Saad has successfully built and delivered transformational products for enterprises, service providers, and consumers. He is a big sci-fi fan and enjoys building LEGO spaceships with his kids.

In addition to his role as Upbound’s developer advocate, Viktor is also a member of the Google Developer Experts, CDF Ambassadors, Docker Captains, and GitHub Stars groups, and a published author. He is a host of the YouTube channel DevOps Toolkit and co-host of DevOps Paradox.

In this lively discussion, we look at how the eternal tension between experimentation and control can be resolved. Are dev and ops partners with the same goals and priorities and do they agree on the need for security and trust, or fight over complexity and cost?

What’s in it for you? We’re raffling off a $250 Amazon gift card. All you have to do to earn an entry is show up. Plus, three (3) more lucky winners will receive an OpenTable gift card to use at a restaurant of their choice. May we suggest “dinner for two” so you can do your own Kubernetes couples therapy? You can DOUBLE your chances to win when you ask the panel a question in person at the breakfast!

Register for KubeCon+CloudNativeCon North America, then save the Pancake Breakfast to your conference schedule. Seating is limited and available on a First Come, First Serve basis.
