TNS Tech Backgrounder is a series of profile posts on DevOps companies that have been funded by Insight Partners.

LibLab generates software development kits (SDKs) and documentation in multiple languages, offering organizations SDKs with clean, tested code, well documented in multiple languages. LibLab is code that writes code, empowering companies to offer best-in-class SDKs for both internal and external developers.

Liblab currently generates SDKs and docs for RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

Differentiator

A problem with SDKs and docs is that they are only as good as the developer experience they provide. While there are other options to generate SDKs, many aren’t user-friendly. For example, an SDK that only a computer can read — because it looks like it was written by a computer — isn’t useful.

LibLab generates human-readable, language-idiomatic SDKs in seconds.

Problem Space

Usually, developers are happiest and do their best work when they can focus on what they’re there to do: write code, but time spent on writing documentation and SDKs prevents this.

“SDKs are a crucial component for every API service. Companies that care about the usage and adoption of their API services should offer the best-in-class SDKs to their developers. This is what LibLab offers.”

– Praveen Akkiraju, Managing Director at Insight Partners and member of the LibLab board of directors

Benefits of LibLab

LibLab saves developers time by providing SDKs in multiple languages with documentation and best practices already in place so that their teams can automatically generate SDKs with proper documentation, security and monitoring.

Building and maintaining SDKs in multiple languages at the same time is hard to get right, but good SDKs increase developer adoption, provide language-specific access patterns and control API usage. LibLab strives to address all SDK needs and help generate, maintain and monitor any organization’s SDKs.

Company

LibLab was founded in 2022 by Sagiv Ofek to transform how client libraries are made. The company raised venture funding from Insight Partners, Zeev Ventures, Stepstone, Rainfall and Sheva.

LibLab is a remote-first culture. And while it has a core group operating out of Austin, LibLab has no formal office, and employees are welcome to work from anywhere they like.

Pricing

As of publication, LibLab is in closed beta testing. It plans to establish pricing across the board, from lone developers to large enterprises, driven by:

  • Use Case (Commercial vs. Open Source)
  • SDK Languages (# Supported)
  • Feature Selection

It will also offer a free tier for noncommercial use.
