Türkiye’s foreign ministry has strongly rejected the European Parliament’s 2025 Türkiye Report, describing it as a document built on “baseless allegations and misinformation” that fails to reflect realities on the ground.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said the report, adopted by the European Parliament's plenary session, contains assessments that are incompatible with facts and reflects the views of circles hostile to Türkiye.
Ankara argued that the report appeared to have been prepared within the framework of a deliberate political agenda shaped by the ideological biases of some members of the European Parliament.
The ministry said the timing was particularly concerning given the growing strategic importance of relations between Türkiye and the European Union.
“Rather than contributing to the positive agenda, the report seeks to overshadow it,” the statement said.
Ankara defends judicial independence
The foreign ministry also condemned what it described as distortions of ongoing legal proceedings in Türkiye and rejected criticism directed at the country’s justice system and justice minister.
It stressed that the Turkish judiciary operates independently and is not subject to interference by international institutions, foreign actors or political groups.
“Attempts to target judicial processes for political reasons are unacceptable and contradict the principle of judicial independence,” the ministry said.
Ankara further criticised what it called an approach that provides space for terrorist organisations and anti-Türkiye groups, arguing that it demonstrates the European Parliament’s lack of a strategic vision for the future of Türkiye-EU relations.
The ministry said it expects the European Parliament to adopt a more constructive approach based on mutual interests and cooperation, particularly at a time of growing global challenges.
