Nigeria don secure about 150 convictions within di first two days of di latest round of mass terrorism trials, di Attorney-General of di Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), talk on Tuesday.

Fagbemi make dis announcement when im dey talk with journalists for Federal High Court for Abuja, where di trials dey happen at di same time before 10 judges of di court.

Di AGF talk say di current phase, wey start on Monday, don already record about 160 trials wey lead to roughly 150 convictions on di first day alone.

"Yesterday, we get about 160 trials. I think about 150 convictions," Fagbemi tell reporters.

Im add say di proceedings on Tuesday bring about 300 cases before di courts, with anoda 84 cases wey dem expect to finish before di end of di day.

"Whatever we fit do, or wherever we stop today, we go continue tomorrow and also on Thursday. So e dey still dey go on," di minister talk.

Fagbemi appeal to members of di public make dem show patience as di exercise dey continue, and im stress say di initiative show di government commitment to justice, accountability, and di rule of law.

On Monday, di AGF don talk say di ongoing phase na di fourth round of mass terrorism trials wey dem don do since dis current administration start, and im describe di exercise as clear signal say di government no go tolerate terrorism for any form.

"Di message dey clear, direct, and straightforward. E dey say dis present administration no dey take di issue of terrorism with light heart. And dat na why you dey see ongoing trials.

"Since dis administration start, dis one na about di fourth phase wey we dey do. So di message na make everybody know say terrorism for any form or shape no go dey tolerated," Fagbemi add.

Di prosecution dey led by di AGF himself, while di Director-General of Legal Aid Council, Aliyu Abubakar, dey head di defence team.

Among di judges wey dey handle di cases na Justices Binta Nyako, Emeka Nwite, Musa Liman, James Omotosho, Obiora Egwuatu and Ekerete Akpan, with proceedings dey happen across several courtrooms at di same time.

Di current phase of trials dey expected to run through Thursday, with di overall exercise scheduled to last one week.

Di latest phase dey follow previous round wey dem do between April 7 and April 10, where no fewer than 500 alleged terrorists dem try before di Federal High Court wey sit for Abuja.
