"Hello, Tyrannosaurus Alan!"

Volvic has aired several advertisements regarding their water and Volvic Revivenote A seemingly short-lived energy drink infused with ginseng and guarana. The most well known are the four that feature George the Volcano (voiced by Matt Berry) and Tyrannosaurus Alan (voiced by Tom Goodman-Hill), with the former recommending the latter to try out some of his water. You can watch the ones with George and Alan here👁 Image
, and one with inventing the wheel here👁 Image
.

These ads provide examples of:

  • Anachronistic Animal: The commercials feature Tyrannosaurus living alongside Pteranodon (technically Late Cretaceous, but went extinct millions of years before Tyrannosaurus), Stegosaurus, saber-toothed cats, and humans.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: George is a volcano who can speak and move his hands.
  • Badass Boast: What one would shout after drinking Volvic.
"Come on, world, I'll have you for breakfast!"
  • Crunchtastic: "Volcanicity", a trait possessed by Volvic mineral water.
  • Exact Words: Alan initially gets upset when George says that his water attracts "birds"note In the UK, "bird" is a semi-derogatory way to refer to a woman... until some actual birds (actually pterosaurs) start flocking around him.
  • Executive Ball Clicker: The third Alan & George commercial shows that Tyrannosaurus Alan owns a Newton's cradle with skulls rather than balls alongside other office-like equipment.
  • Fantastic Racism: For some reason, Alan seeks to exterminate the saber-toothed tigers.
  • Genius Ditz: Volvic Revive allows even a peabrain like Alan to come up with a carefully concocted plan.
Alan: I'm planning to snuff out all the saber-tooth tigers, and the plotting involved is astronomical! I'm up to me ears in graphs, charts, and flow diagrams, and I've only got a brain the size of a pea!
  • Inventing the Wheel: It looks like a Neanderthal just invented the wheel, but it turns out he invented a stripper pole.
  • Large Ham: George shouts a lot to where he may very well have NO INDOOR VOICE.
  • Milking the Giant Cow: George does a lot of gesticulating when he talks to Alan.
  • Prehistoria: The setting is a huge jungle filled with dinosaurs, pterosaurs, saber-toothed tigers and a talking volcano.
  • Signing-Off Catchphrase: George exclaims "Yes!" at the end of most ads with him.
  • Terrifying Tyrannosaur: Alan terrifies a small hadrosaur with his roar in the first commercial, plots to exterminate saber-toothed cats and goes "off to eat someone's parents" in the third, and practices hunting for Stegosaurus in the fourth.
