Tee Franklin is, in her own words, "a Queer, disabled black woman who writes comics". A former comics journalist, she was the first black woman ever hired to write comics by Image Comics. Her major credits include the (initially self-published) New York Times bestselling graphic novel Bingo Love and the short-lived Image horror series Jook Joint. Before this, she created the Twitter hashtag "#BlackComicsMonth", which has been used by numerous black comic creators to promote their works. She is close friends with comic writer Gail Simone, who she calls "my sister", and comic writer Jeremy Whitley, creator of Princeless. She lives in New Jersey.
