"You know how most dragons have fire breath attacks? Well, it's like that. Only it's not breath. And there's no fire. But it will feel like you're roasting alive."

Gas. Flatulence. Cutting the cheese. Breaking wind. Floating an air biscuit. Dropping kids in the pool. Bottom burps. Barking spiders. Stepped-on ducks. Whizzpopping. In other words? Farts.

In real life, the powers of flatulence are largely limited to clearing a room. And perhaps serving as an impromptu blowtorch, if you're really, really dumb. It's different in cartoons, though. There, the lowly flatus is often elevated to the status of Weapon of Gas Destruction:

Largely limited to shows or video games geared at kids, because adults tend to have a lower tolerance for Toilet Humour. Unless the show in question is a Gross-Out Show, to begin with.

This trope has little to do with the real-life petard, a siege explosive ironically derived from peter, the Medieval French verb for 'breaking wind'.

In Video Games, the user tends to be male most of the time. Even female characters that attack with their rear ends are usually portrayed as cutesy or graceful (though the latter a rarer example) and tend to be portrayed as hygienically conscious, so doing such an action willfully is out of the question most of the time for girls. Males who do this that are also human tend to be portrayed doing other things such as scratching their rear ends or other similar actions.

Sub-trope of Weaponized Stench. Compare Weaponized Exhaust for a non-biological version, and Butt Cannon. Related to Excrement Statement and Dung Fu, an extension of Ass Kicks You, as well as an extension of Toilet Humour. Often involves a Visible Odor. Can be a Revolting Rescue if it saves someone. Also see Ass Shove and Gasshole. A Clothespin Nose Plug may be used to counteract the weapon. If they use food to produce the farts, see Gassy Gastronomy.

    Anime & Manga 
  • Battle Spirits Saikyo Ginga Ultimate Zero:
    • Mugen tends to do this a lot. Usually he farts at Triumvirate or anyone he's really mad at or don't like to send them blasting off. Sometimes he even use his farts to attack his opponents in game.
    • Ian also like to fart in the faces of people he don't like (including Mugen)... but nowhere near as often as Mugen does.
  • The evil mice in Black Cat Detective. Some of them have the ability to knock cats unconscious with their deadly emissions, warranting the use of space-helmets.
  • This is the center of Gasser's martial art style in Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Which is taken completely seriously, as Gasser shares with Beauty the Only Sane Man position (more so in the first episodes).
  • DNA²: Kotomi's... biggest problem, shall we say. She farts when she gets nervous, and since she's a gymnast... It should be noted that her farts in the manga seem to venture more toward fartillery territory than the anime; in the anime, her farts are average sounding but in the manga they're often drawn like explosions to emphasize their volume.
  • Domo TV: Domo-kun uses farts as a method of propulsion.
  • Doraemon: One of Doraemon's gadgets is a brand of sweet potato which induces farts to sound melodious. However, they have to be eaten sparingly, as eating them too much will magnify the farts by tenfold. Desperate enough to avoid embarrassment at a talent show, Nobita consumes them all at once. He ends up farting so hard he is blown all the way back to his house.
  • Dragon Ball:
    • In the first Tournament Arc in Dragon Ball, both Bacterian and Krillin use this move. In fact, Bacterian's entire style was based around his horrible stench. Bacterian is at first jumping up and landing on Krillin with his buttocks at first, but when Krillin makes the unfortunate move of catching Bacterian, the foul beast takes this as an advantage and releases a foul, huge fart on Krillin. Being a giant, especially compared to Krillin's tiny stature at the time, Bacterian falls on Krillin (who is no longer able to hold him from weakness from the smell) and rubs his butt on him, insuring the smell to linger. The only reason Krillin wins the fight is because Goku reminds him that he doesn't have a nose, and is therefore imagining the smell. When Krillin gets Bacterian down, he farts in his face as payback, which surprisingly wins him the match.
    • It also happens twice in Dragon Ball Z. In one episode Roshi is about to fall into the mouth of a dragon (who had previously swallowed one of the dragonballs the group was collecting) when he farts into the dragon's mouth off-screen, causing it to wretch at the smell (and likely taste) of his fart and coughing up the dragonball before flying away. There is also a scene in which gas venting from a port-o-potty occupied by Super Buu knocks Mr. Satan out.
    • Dragon Ball Super has a fight between Vegeta and a Mechanical Lifeform named Magetta. The fight is taking place in an enclosed arena, and Magetta is using his own internal lava to release steam, and heat in general into the air. At one point, he releases a noxious gas which he then ignites into an explosion. The rules of the fight state that a fighter can't use weapons, but the referee checks the database to discover that Magetta caused that explosion by releasing his own intestinal gasses, much to Magetta's embarrassment.
  • Nezumi-Otoko uses this as a special ability in GeGeGe no Kitarō.
  • Gokudō's farts are smelly enough to empty a bar. This later becomes a Chekhov's Skill, when he has to wake his companions from a sleep spell.
  • In a scene edited out of the English dub of the Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics episode "Jorinde and Joringel", as the witch in her cat form tries to turn Jorinde into a bird the first time, Joringel picks her up by the tail and she farts on him in response.
  • Hamtaro: In the episode "Merry Christmas!", the Ham-Ham Gang are decorating their clubhouse for the holidays. Boss, Hamtaro, Dexter and Maxwell are about to put the star on top of the tree when suddenly, Boss accidentally rips one out onto the rest of the group's faces, which causes all of them to fall down from surprise.
  • Nenekogappa from Hell Teacher Nube manga series, a catgirl/kappa who once enrolled in Nube's class. She was able to catch Makoto when he was falling from a tree by using her farts to fly up and catch him. However the smell was so strong it knocked out all the other students who just so happen to be below her.
  • Himawari! features Momota, a cute animal sidekick who frequently attacks with his gas. As well, at one point, as using his backside as a watermelon-seed machine gun.
  • Iggy latches onto Polnareff's face and cuts loose during his initial fight with him in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
  • Kaiketsu Zorori: Ishishi and Noshishi have strong gas, and Zorori uses this when needed, to power machines and spacecraft. (That's not to say that Zorori's farts can't power spacecraft too, though.)
  • Kinnikuman had this as his means of flight. He also farts on his opponent at the end of an incomplete Muscle Spark. Not nearly as damaging as a complete one, but much more humiliating. He escaped Black Hole's alternate universe prison by using his farts as a "white hole" counter-attack. And then there is the duel between Kinnikuman and his son👁 Image

  • In Lupin III: The Last Job at one point when Asuka's dog Kotomaru is going to bite Lupin again he repels him with a fart.
  • Navirou in Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On does this regularly, but then takes it up a notch in episode 73.
  • Monster Rancher: As in the games, Hare's Gas serves as one of his most powerful maneuvers. Though all uses of it got edited out of the English Dub, he originally uses it during his debut to not only knock out Tiger, but the referee and several spectators. Another episode has him using it to refuel their flagging aircraft.
  • Naruto. When Naruto is fighting Kiba in the Chuunin exams, he (accidentally) lets one of these out. It turns out to be a great tactical move because Kiba's sense of smell is greatly heightened at the time. Some of the licensed video games take it further and give this to Naruto as a special move.
  • Ninja Nonsense has Onsokumaru wiping out a room full of Ninja with a fart in episode 5.
  • Ninku:
    • Hiroyuki (Fuusuke pet penguin) is capable of releasing explosives farts. which he sometimes use for propulsion, or to simply knock people out with.
    • In the manga this ability belong to Toji.
  • One Piece:
    • Franky's "Coup de Boo" proves that Eiichiro Oda does nothing half-assed (no pun intended). Up to and including his fart jokes.👁 Image
    • There is also the Skunk One from the second Movie, although he could be considered a user of artificial fartillery, since he has a bag of gas on his back, which he uses to propel himself in the air and to weaken his opponents (It makes a characteristic sound, when it emits gas).
    • Foxfire Kin'emon, a samurai whom the Straw Hat Pirates found in various pieces at Punk Hazard, can actually talk with his farts.
    • In the anime-exclusive Filler arc "G-8", at one point, Usopp accidentally uses a Flavor Dialnote an Organic Technology seashell that can store scents and odors, only to find that Luffy had used it earlier to record one of his farts. The result is that a prison is flooded with incredibly foul-smelling gas... which then ignites when it touches an exposed flame, causing an explosion that rips the prison apart and, luckily, frees Usopp and Luffy.
  • In Ox Tales, Cecil the Skunk can of course pretty much stop anything that wants to eat him this way, with a lot of collateral damage. At one point he farts so powerfully, it looks and sounds like a nuke going off, and skeleton dinosaurs rise up from the sand disgusted by the smell.
  • A gag in the Pokémon short Pikachu's Vacation subverts this when Charizard lands butt-first on Meowth, who is holding a bomb. The bomb then goes off under Charizard's rear in a way that makes it look as though it just ripped a massive fart directly onto Meowth.
  • As in the original show, in Powerpuff Girls Z the Rowdyruff Boys use noxious gas to terrorize the audience locked in a TV studio.
  • The Jiggle Butt Gang from Rave Master knock out an entire casino with their ultimate technique.
    • They still have this when they show up in the first Fairy Tail anime. At one point, one of them farts in Erza’s face.
  • Sakigake!! Otokojuku has Ryuji Toramaru, his "Daihouhi" aka "Great Fart Cannon" which is smelly enough to knock out a killer whale, it also has the a wind speed of 100 m/s which Is strong enough to knock a person off their feet, and when he light them it creates his signature move the "Daihouhi Kaenhousha" aka the "Big Fart Flamethrower".
  • Sgt. Frog: Tamama has farts vastly more potent then a normal Keronian, which he is quite proud of, and uses them as an attack on a few occasions. He also can use them to increase his swimming speed.
    • This, is mostly in the anime however. In the manga Tamama very very rarely does this.
  • Though it's not an intentional attack, Horo Horo's farts in Shaman King are truly devastating.
  • Tetsuko from Super Milk Chan can produce powerful farts which she calls her Tetsuko Gas. It's strong enough to kill a wild bear.
  • Tamiya Nika from Switch Girl actually has used her farts to knock someone unconscious at least once.

  • One Chimera Anima of Tokyo Mew Mew was a large kappa, who stunned the Mew Mews with a fart. Fortunately, Pudding happened to have a cold at the time.
    Asian Animation 
  • Larva: Yellow, being the most gaseous worm that ever existed, has used this plenty of times!!
    • Red on occasion has used this as well.
  • Mask Masters: The Synostone seasons introduced Andre whose animal motive is a skunk and fights using his own natural gas as well as a smoke bomb cannon.
    Comic Books 
  • In The Beano comic strip Superhero School this is Stinkbomb's superpower.
  • Cazador has Captain Cuete, a superhero who can use his explosive farts to fly like a rocket.
  • In one issue of The Darkness, a darkling defeats a mook during an underwater fight by farting into his air hose.
  • Górsky & Butch: In a scene that is a direct spoof of Vasquez and Gorman's death from Aliens. Except here they use canned beans and a lighter. That, and the aliens are replaced by sheep as a result of an untranslatable Visual Pun.
  • Franchise/Hellraiser}} comics' shortly-lived Spin-Off The Harrowers had Ovid, a cherub who serves the goddess of life and chaos. One of his powers is anti-demon farts.
  • Mentioned by Jesus, of all people, in the Italian satiric comic Jenus of Nazareth, in his last exchange with Judas:
    Jesus: Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?
    Judas: He who sows wind will reap whirlwind... Master! Fate is a funny thing... In the end, the last aphorism shall be mine... Ah ah!
    Jesus: Beans!
    Judas: Mh?
    Jesus: He who sows beans shall reap whirlwind.
    Judas: What absurd phrase is that? It means nothing!! You lose!! This time you...

  • In the Swedish comic Krystmarodören (about an anarchic Anti-Hero with super-crapping powers...) the eponymous hero is tricked into a fight with more upstanding hero Balkongståarn, a half-dressed man with a hover-balcony. After using his power to, erh, clogging the vents on Balkonståarn's vehicle, the guy snarfs down a can of baked beans, singing Popeye's theme tune, and averts crashing by some massive farting.
  • In one of Lobo's stories, he resolves an epic duel with his daughter by eating a can of beans (an obvious Popeye spoof) and setting his fart on fire to create a nuclear explosion.
    The Sun: That was a corker!
  • Peräsmies is a Finnish superhero parody comic. The title hero is a hobo who developed super-powered flatulence after eating irradiated pea soup; he flies by breaking wind, and knocks criminals out by farting on them. The name of the character is a combination of "Teräsmies" (Superman's Finnish name) and "perä" (rear end).
  • In The Savage Dragon, an entire team of bad guys had body function related powers. One of them was called Backdraft. Do the math.
  • Ultimate Marvel
    • Ultimate X-Men (2001): When a safe-house gets knocked over, Quicksilver's first reaction is to demand if Blob broke wind without permission "again".
    • Ultimate Fantastic Four: It's implied that The Thing's flatulence is comparable to military-grade high explosives. And that he had to be locked inside a blast room when he was feeling gassy.
  • The eponymous Johnny Fartpants from Viz uses farts to various effect and can alter the effect by eating different things i.e. a tranquilizer fart made by eating 200 paracetamol or an electric fart to power a life support machine by drinking battery acid.
    Comic Strips 
  • Lucky Eddie seems to be training a young dragon to do this in the Hägar the Horrible strip seen here.👁 Image
  • Subverted in a Photo Comic called "Fartman" in the March 1985 issue of National Lampoon. The title character's fartillery covers all of the above categories, and is quite effective. However, he refuses to actually use it, as it's too embarrassing.

    Films — Animation 
  • In Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, there's a scene where the two main characters meet their fathers in the middle of the desert. After having a dinner of canned beans by campfire, Butthead's dad turns around and proceeds to fart into the flames, causing an explosion equivalent to a nuclear explosion.
  • Despicable Me 1: Dr. Nefario mishears Gru's request for a dart gun as a fart gun, and thus builds a handheld weapon that fires smelly gas. The sequel features a 21 Fart Gun salute.
  • The Lion King:
    • Pumbaa's backstory in The Lion King (1994) establishes that he... well, smells... and is why he was cast out of warthog society. Demonstrated during "Hakuna Matata," where he clears the waterhole quicker than you could say "safari."
    • In The Lion King 1 ½, Pumbaa lets out a huge one in the middle of a big crowd surrounding Pride Rock, which is revealed as the actual reason why all the animals "bowed down" for baby Simba's presentation.
    • In The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, Timon intentionally uses Pumbaa's... emissions as a threat against Zira's Amazon Brigade. They run away fast.
      Timon: [laughs evilly] Talk about your winds of war.
  • The Nuttiest Nutcracker has some anthropomorphic beans delivering a fart attack on an army of mice.
  • The aptly named Toot-n-Boom beetles from Raya and the Last Dragon fart out a tiny colorful cloud when agitated, which then explodes like fireworks. A narrow passageway infested by them makes for a fairly effective booby trap.
  • Robots has a scene where everyone in Aunt Fannie's house is making fart noises with their armpits (heard only during a stationary outdoor shot). Aunt Fannie one-ups them all with a real one that shakes the world and actually kills a robot lamp post outside, whose dying words were: "Lady... please... see a doctor... ungh." There's even a tape outline where he fell on the sidewalk the next morning.
  • Shrek:
    • In the opening of the first movie, Shrek jumps into a pond, releases a potent fart, and three dead fish who were caught in the deadly blast float to the surface; Shrek smirks as he picks up a fart-killed fish.
    • Ogre astrology and mythology includes "Bloodnut the Flatulent", whose constellation includes hunters fleeing his stench.
    • Also, when reaching the brimstone-smelling dragon lair...
      Donkey: Man, you gotta warn somebody before you crack one off. My mouth was open and everything.
      Shrek: Believe me, Donkey, if it was me, you'd be dead.
    • In Shrek 2, Shrek and Fiona fart into their hotspring to make it bubble like a spa.
  • At the beginning of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Kenny dies from having his heart replaced with a baked potato when he's in the hospital for lighting his fart explosively. Unlike earlier, the death sticks, and kick-starts the plot. In other words, he was hoist by his own petard.
    Films — Live-Action 
  • The ABCs of Death: In the "F" segment, Miss Yumi's farts are toxic enough to allow someone to commit suicide by inhaling them.
  • In Down Periscope, the Stingray is hiding at the bottom of the ocean, with the Orlando right above them. Everyone is keeping silent. Suddenly, Buckman, who is busy eating, lets loose an extremely loud fart. It's not only loud enough to be picked up by the Orlando's passive sonar microphones (and the sonar technician who hears it flat-out calls it "some sort of explosion") but he stinks up the entire inside of the sub to the point the other crew members have a hard time breathing and their eyes start to water.
    LCdr Thomas Dodge: [after the danger has passed] Somebody find Buckman, launch him out a torpedo tube.
  • Dumb and Dumber: In a daydream, Lloyd Christmas lights his fart, which makes him the hit of the party.
  • Windy Winston from The Garbage Pail Kids Movie uses his gas while fighting, or to just gross people out.
  • George of the Jungle 2: During the fight against the bulldozers, a monkey lines-up some gorillas and has them fart in front of a lit match, sending the flames to one of the bulldozers and burning it to a crisp.
  • The Gingerweed Man: The Gingerweed Man defeats Smokahontas by letting loose a huge fart that knocks her out cold.
  • The Green Hornet: Kato gives Britt a gun that, in his words, "shoots farts at people". Doesn't help that the gas is GREEN, either.
  • The Big Bad's hooker minion in Hanger uses queefs to torture a man.
  • Hot Shots! Part Deux: At one point, President Benson and his team are scuba diving, when an enemy boat appears overhead. The president lets loose a visibly BIG fart that floats up to enemy boat above, and, with the stench still in the bubbles, kills the enemy soldiers on the spot!
  • In Little Giants, during one play, Zoltec unleashes a rather loud fart that sends the entire Cowboys' defensive running for fresh air as a distraction for Johnny to run all the way for a touchdown.
  • Major Payne knocks out one at his JROTC recruits with a fart after they try to pull a Laxative Prank.
  • Mystery Men features the Spleen, who was gifted with superpowered flatulence by a Gypsy Curse. Naturally enough, he is virtually the only team member whose power is both effective and can be used on demand.note A deliberate Artistic License – Biology example, as even curse-enhanced farts have nothing to do with the spleen. However, an archaic definition of "spleen" is "ill humor, bad temper, or spite." Fits with what he did to the gypsy and what she did in return.
    The Spleen: One day, while walking with some friends, I accidentally cut the cheese. Well, in my adolescent awkwardness, I blamed it on an old gypsy woman who happened to be passing by. Big mistake! The gypsy woman placed a curse upon my head. Because I smelt it, she decreed I would forevermore be he who dealt it!
  • The Nutty Professor (1996): There is a dream sequence in which Sherman has a nightmare about being a giant and destroying the city with a fart that accidentally catches fire.
  • Nutty Professor II: The Klumps features extreme Farts on Fire, fart propulsion in zero gravity, et cetera.
  • In Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Scooby's farts overpower The Miner Forty'Niner's fire breath and defeat him with the blowback of his own flames.
  • In Starship Troopers, the alien army has a literal fartillery, capable of taking down a large spaceship. It's less farting and more projectile... gobbets of bio-plasma.
  • In Theodore Rex, the title character interrogates someone this way. Surprisingly, it doesn't work.
  • The raison d'être of the evergreen children's film Thunderpants.
  • In Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, the Shriekers metamorphose into "Assblasters", creatures capable of getting airborne by igniting their own farts.
  • In Zoom: Academy for Superheroes, one of the potential candidates for the team is "Jupiter the Gas Giant". He doesn't quite make the cut.
    Jokes 
  • An example that is actually a subversion, but no less funny for it. A man walks across a bridge, and drops a penny off it. On the other side, he sees a little girl crying. "Why are you crying, little girl?" The girl looks up at him and replies, "A penny fell of the bridge and killed my cat." A second man walks across the bridge, and drops a dime off it. On the other side, he sees a little boy crying. "Why are you crying, little boy?" The boy looks up at him and replies, "A dime fell off the bridge and killed my dog." A third man walks across the bridge, and drops a bomb off it. On the other side, he sees an old man laughing. "Why are you laughing, old man?" "I farted and my house blew up."
    Literature 
  • In Artemis Fowl, the Dwarves possesses a wide range of gastrointestinally-based superpowers. Including superfarts. At one point, Battle Butler Butler (That's his name) is Blown Across the Room by one of these, much to his chagrin. Artemis himself occasionally refers to the rear end of a dwarf as "a wide-bore weapon".
  • The BFG has a drink with bubbles that sink and make you "fly".
  • The Bum Trilogy: Farts, in this, are used by the bums not only as weapons, but also for flight.
  • Discworld:
    • Errol the Dragon is a rocket-flight version — justified in that he specifically eats things in order to manufacture rocket fuel in his chemical-distillery insides. Word of God says that Errol is a throwback to the lunar dragons.
    • Lunar Dragons, as seen in The Last Hero, flame from... that end. This is largely because they live on a low-gravity environment, and a weapon that stops you in midflight is worthless.
  • In The Divine Comedy, one of the devils in the later part of Hell lets out a huge fart as a sort of military trumpet, a similarity not lost on our noble narrator.
  • Don Quixote:
    "What noise is that, Sancho?"
    "I don't know, señor."
    ... But Don Quixote's sense of smell was as acute as his hearing ...
  • Dungeon Core Chat Room: During the interactive plague creation workshop, Abe tries mixing Explosion mana into his disease starter, and gets a flatulence disease.
    Abe: That's…not what I was going for.
  • There is a traditional Japanese children's fable whose title, when translated to English, is The Farting Wife.👁 Image
     In it, a man marries a beautiful woman who is his dream girl, but her farts are so enormous they're capable blowing people and things away.
  • In the Harry Potter book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, this is what a Fire Crab👁 Image
    does (despite actually being a turtle). The video game later shows how it does it. Fire crab hybrids known as Blast-Ended Skrewts appear in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
  • Hidden Talents by David Lubar has a kid nicknamed Hindenburg for his tendency to, well... He even manages to blow open a closet door.
  • In the Courts of the Crimson Kings by S. M. Stirling. Do the methane-powered living rifles of the Martians count?
  • One of the Alan Dean Foster stories about his Weird West Mountain Man Mad Amos Malone has the protagonist and his horse staying with a new homesteader couple the night before before a Morally Bankrupt Banker forecloses on their homestead due to them having failed to cut down all the trees on it to convert the homestead into a farm. Amos cinches a belt around the waist of his horse, Worthless, then feeds him a bunch of alfalfa. When the banker shows up the next morning, Amos proceeds to turn Worthless's backside toward the man and undo the belt, causing Worthless to let out such a powerful fart that all the trees on the entire homestead are blown over... and the banker is blown clear to the next county.
  • The (aptly-named) Gasman, a.k.a. Gazzy from Maximum Ride. Not only can they incapacitate foes with their smell, they're toxic green.
    Max: His name is "the Gasman"; we're not just whistling Dixie here.
  • In one of the Otto Stahl novels by Leo Kessler, someone is trying to assassinate Adolf Hitler with a silenced rifle, but misses. Meanwhile Hitler is suffering an attack of flatulence, and decides he really must see his doctor when a hole appears in the wall at the exact moment he lets one rip.
  • Played with in A Sailor of Austria by John Biggins. The WW1 submarine commanded by the protagonist has a toilet with a hand-pumped ejection system — the toilet seat is locked down and pressure is increased via a hand-pump until it matches the water pressure outside, whereupon a valve opens ejecting the contents. At least that's the theory; it's just as likely to eject the contents in the user's face if he gets the pressure wrong, so is only used in dire need. The toilet is abandoned altogether after someone pumps too vigorously and the porcelain bowl shatters like a bomb.
  • In the war novel SS General by Sven Hassel, Porta has a sudden attack of deafeningly-loud farts while they're trying to sneak through the Russian lines.
    "Well, just try and control it!" I snapped. "It's like a bloody cannon going off!"
    "Stick a cork up your bum," suggested Tiny.
    "Germany's secret weapon," I said sourly. "The human champagne bottle... turns his back on the enemy and wipes out whole regiments at a fart!"

  • 1000 Ways to Die:
    • Happens in a case named "Gas-Holed". An ass-man proctologist forgets to tell a stripper with a nice ass to not eat anything before operating on her; she eats a HUGE chilli dog and later lets out a big fart during the surgery... accidentally blowing up the cauterizer and burning the Dirty Old Man doc's face and lungs.
    • In "Work of Fart", a frat boy is trying to win a farting contest by getting a coach with some of the weirdest methods imaginable. The coach dies when the frat boy accidentally ignites a big one, inadvertently setting the coach on fire.
  • The supervillain Geyser Girl from The Amazing Extraordinary Friends has farts capable of knocking people unconscious.
  • In an Angel episode "Blood Money", Cordelia has a vision of a great fire-breathing monster. Gunn and Wesley attempt to sneak up on it from behind, and flames appear, coming from the (offscreen) giant monster. Gunn laments "I thought you said it breathed fire!"
  • In the Brazilian comedy show Casseta And Planeta Urgente, the show's MegaCorp Organizações Tabajara (an Expy of ACME) had various products and appliances based on farting power. One of the most notable was the "Kit Labareda" (The "Blaze Kit"), which allowed you to ignite your farts and create various fireworks effects.
  • Doctor Who:
    • "The Power of Kroll" is the only story centered entirely around farts (methane production from a giant alien creature).
    • The Slitheen disguise themselves as humans by killing people, then using their skins as disguises. As they are about 8 feet tall, they have to literally compress themselves down to fit, and the resulting pent-up of gases causes a condition similar to flatulence. This isn't much use to them (it has to do with "gas exchange"), but it is useful to the Doctor, who realizes what species they are from the way their farts smell.
    • In the charity spoof episode Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death, the Doctor and his companion are exploring the ruins of the planet Tersurus, which was inhabited by a now-vanished race called the Tersurons, the most kindly and peaceful race in the universe. They were shunned by all because they used flatulence as their means of communication.
      Emma: So what happened to them?
      The Doctor: They discovered fire.
  • Farscape:
    • Played with by having Rygel fart helium, but only when he's nervous. Or angry!
    • Played for laughs in the episode John Quixote where the game character Rigel plays can shoot flame from his rear end.
  • A question posed on the 1990 Match Game was "Homer Simpson said, 'I think I've been working at the nuclear power plant too long. I just _______ed and a nuclear cloud came out.'" One panelist said "farted" but it was obscured with an "Oops!"
  • Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide has the dreaded Timmy Toot-Toot, who actually refers to his brain-blasting farts as his gift. On one occasion, an attempt to harness them as an alternative fuel source backfired, and forced the school to evacuate.
  • The Le Corbussier et Papin sketches in The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer. Literally in one of sketches, as rapid fart-firing knocks a cyclist off his bike and into a lake; metaphorical in others.
  • Super Sentai:
    • Kyūkyū Sentai GoGoV: Episode 16, Reward Psyma Beast Garaga unleashes a huge fart to get the GoGoV off his back when they finally manage to pin him down. This part of the fight was omitted when the episode got adapted for Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue though.
    • Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger: The Beast Battery Ovirappoo, which releases a sickly yellow, extremely smelly smoke for a Smoke Out attack. It's performed by loading it into your weapon, and pointing up; the smoke comes from the back of the grip. If used in Kyoryuzin, it shoots out smoke from its left elbow... which is where Gabutyra's butt is. (The scene is also used in Power Rangers Dino Charge; the Rangers' reaction is priceless.)
  • In The Young Ones episode "Cash", Mike accidentally ignites one of Vyvyan's farts, causing an explosion that demolishes the house.
    Music 
  • Clown Core's "Hell" has the drummer claim that all his farts "come straight from hell" and that "you're already dead if you notice a smell."
  • GWAR's former guitarist, Flattus Maximus, claims responsibility for turning the Fertile Crescent into a desert. With his own farts.
  • In the raunchy song "Poor Little Angeline", the blacksmith notices the squire trying to rape Angeline from his prison cell and manages to escape so he can come to Angeline's rescue by unleashing a fart powerful enough that it completely destroys the jail holding him.

  • There have also been serious or not-so-serious speculation on whether the milky way was formed from the gas of an Ancient Astronaut released into space.
  • In many stories, Kappa have incredibly powerful flatulence, some say they even possess two anuses, and the trait even led to an old saying about something having less importance then a Kappa's fart. Conversely this was also used against them, and there is more than one piece of ancient art with a human using fartillery on the Kappa instead. One such example can be found on Wikimedia👁 Image

  • The little-known bonnacon is a mythological beast from Asia with a head like a bull, but with horns that curl in towards each other. As these horns are useless for defense, the bonnacon typically attacks by running away from its pursuers while letting out a gigantic fart that also spatters its dung everywhere, covering as much as two acres in sloppy cow dung that burns anything it touches.
  • A common explanation in mythology for skunks' stench. Some legends even say they can kill with it.

  • On an October 2017 show for Chigusa Nagayo's Marvelous promotion, Roni Nicole countered a rear take down attempt by debuting La Rosa Negra in this manner. La Rosa overcame the stench on her second try.
    Puppet Shows 
  • When The Funday Pawpet Show started in '99, one of the regular features was the "Poot Board" on which it was recorded how many times and which puppeteer ripped one loose over the course of the four hour show. Generally Yappy and JR are the Poot Kings.
    Roleplay 
  • The very first attack in the first Destroy the Godmodder was this. Of course, the Godmodder was able to counter it.
    • "The most epic fart ever" was later reused in TT2000/Moniker's reboot, and this time, it actually damaged the Godmodder.
    Theatre 
  • The musical version of Ronja the Robber's Daughter by Danish singer/songwriter Sebastian includes a "Farting Song"👁 Image
    , where Noodle-Pete sings about how the robbers will defeat their enemies by farting on them. The chorus goes "Fartyfartyfartflufffarttootlytoot!", followed by an interlude with lots of drums.
    Video Games 
  • Ape Escape has Monkey Red, the leader of the Freaky Monkey Five. He shoots out a fart during his boss fight, and it will stun the player if it hits them. In the third game, he even created a martial art based on his farts, and he can even fly with them!
  • Gas coming from pants is a powerup in Backyard Sports: Rookie Rush.
  • Fo Fai from Battle Arena Toshinden has a secret move that does exactly this. It's not All There in the Manual.
    • Likewise with the monkey Bay-Hou, his replacement in Toshinden 3.
    • "A" secret move? 2 actually. The back-up-front semi-circle command produces a teeny tiny("only" the size of his head) fart with a sound similar to his name(fo). The special button-press move(whose command is revealed after you defeat Gaia) produces the same sound effect, accompanied by a gigantic blasty sound, with a long stream of fiery balls the size of Fo himself.
  • In Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess, one of the pieces (I believe it is the minister) attacks by turning around, bending over and blasting their opponent away.
  • Beavis and Butt-Head: B&B also utilize burps and farts as (non-lethal) weaponry in their video game.
  • Pey'j in Beyond Good & Evil has a pair of Jet-Boots than run on— well, I'll let him explain:
    Pey'j: They run on home-made bio-carburant. Here's the pocket of pressurized methane... (points to seat of pants) To fire 'em up, just contract your abdominal muscles!
  • Black Rose (2013) has a secret ending where the player can find a vial of purple fluid in one of the previously locked rooms during the final chase sequence. After drinking it, the player can be rewarded with the sound of an unnaturally long fart, following by the sound of the ghost coughing and falling to the floor. According to Word of God, this is a joke ending where the player kills the ghost.
  • Busuzima from Bloody Roar has a particularly vile throw that incorporates one of these.
  • In the action-adventure game Bonetown, almost every special attack is fart-based.
  • Boogerman. The titular character fights monsters with an arsenal of bodily functions, which of course includes long-range fartillery. After collecting the 'Chili Pepper' powerup, he can also use his flaming flatulence to reach new heights!
  • In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! after defeating The Bosun's best man "Poop Deck" (or by having a door defeat him for you) you gain the "Cathartic Oz Kit" which turns your regular old slam attack into a corrosive area of effect based slam. It also makes a farting sound every time you use it.
  • Bug has a gas mask-wearing stink bug in the swamp level that turns around when Bug gets near, and then farts in Bug's face! It then apologizes to Bug for doing so, saying that it just ate.
  • In Cho Aniki: Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko, the titular Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko who is the Final Boss shoots homing gas clouds from his Speedo-clad ass as part of his rotating arsenal (no pun intended) of attacks.
  • Woolseyism (and censorship) turned Dalton's battle-ending move in Chrono Trigger into a belch, but in the original Japanese, he's farting.
  • In Diablo III, Ghom, the demon lord of gluttony, has a gas cloud attack. Okay, it might be a burp, because he has four mouths, but he could have four of something else too. After you defeat him, his corpse subsides with a long, drawn-out, and very rude sound, accompanied by more gas.
  • Disgaea:
    • Two examples in the Prinny Spin-Off series. In the first game, the boss Gourmet Ogre uses one as an attack. In the sequel one of the game's powerups let's you do a gas assisted jump to float.
    • In Disgaea 4, the Dragon's first skill has it get sent into a sneezing fit by a stray feather that predictably ends with the target getting roasted, only the flames don't come from the dragon's mouth (The attack being called "Break Wind" kind of gives it away, though).
  • Donkey Kong 64: Chunky Kong's charged attack has him unleash a green shockwave via burping.
  • Dragon Creek: One of the moves dragons can learn is Putrid Wind, which damages and poisons the target behind them.
  • Dragon Quest V has the Flatulent Ferret, complete with a cloud of gas spraying from its rear end in its sprite artwork.
  • In the now defunct MMORPG Dragongem, the thief class can stun enemies with their gas.
  • Likewise the thieves in Dragonica's second Alpha could use a fart attack to poison them. However it seems, for beta, it has been removed from the class, and given to the Battle Mage.
  • The Bile Demons of Dungeon Keeper fart deadly poison gas as their tertiary (secondary in the sequel) attack.
  • A mod of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim lets you summon Dragon Shouts out of your butt.It's as hilarious and awesome as it sounds👁 Image

  • In Fable III, while it isn't used as an attack, your character's flatulence is remarkably strong. When you do the fart interaction, there's a brief part of the animation where it appears to blow the NPC away slightly and the animation ends with the other character passing out from the smell.
  • While not used as an actual attack in-game, in one of the end credits skits in Fatal Fury Special, 2 Big Bears are shown, and one of them farts in the other's face.
  • Farting Felix, an indie platformer about a flatulent fox.
  • Final Fantasy:
    • A species of flying bugs in Final Fantasy VIII use the aptly named "Fart" skill, to berserk opponents.
    • The Earth Eater Optional Boss from Final Fantasy X looks like it's farting the Flare spell, although it's actually bouncing it off its own auto-reflect. However, it can only do this while its behind is pointing at you.
  • All gas- and smell-related powers from Ghost Master are activated with a sound of blowing a raspberry, hinting this trope. Powers in this category vary from simply unnerving people right to making them vomit.
  • Ginger: Beyond the Crystal: Some pig-like enemies attack Ginger by farting.
  • The Samnites in the LucasArts strategy game Gladius can learn a skill called, appropriately enough, "Befoul Area". Becomes a Game-Breaker when paired with the Executioner's Sword, which instantly kills a damaged enemy — resulting in a unit that can kill multiple enemies by farting on them. Not so silent... but deadly!
  • In GU Fighter, a mugen-like system based around forum members, a few attack this way. One has sprite's based off of Tekken Gon and attacks with a green cloud. The second is based off of Fernandeath and attacks by farting out a series of black spheres. Finally is one based on Tails who has both a projectile and instant death super.
  • Gun Devil, a truly outrageous indie platformer, have a Canis Major boss who attacks by eating chili and farting projectiles as it's sole attack. Including a thick energy beam from it's ass👁 Image

  • One of the attacks used by Orange in Gunstar Heroes is entitled "Break Wind". He'll use it if you're hanging from the copter where he might be attacked from underneath.
  • In Hollow Knight, the Charm "Defender's Crest," gotten by beating the Dung Defender boss, "Causes the bearer to emit a heroic odour." In gameplay terms, this means the Knight walks around emitting clouds of fartgas that poison enemies. It also stacks with other charms to make them into poison grenades (Flukenest, which turns Vengeful Spirit into a Short-Range Shotgun on its own), and kamikaze fly-minions (Glowing Womb, which is a Mook Maker by itself).
  • In the Liscensed Game of Ice Age: The Meltdown, Cholly can use his farts to launch Scrat to new heights.
  • Inkulinati: The Devils' Pyroflatulence attack creates a cloud of fire sparks behind them. The Bonnacon can instead choose to fart two fields' worth of either fire sparks or infection clouds.
  • In reference to the scene mentioned above, Iggy has this move in the fighting games. In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future, it's his basic throw, with his stand restraining the opponent's feet so they can't escape. His GHA in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle ends with him farting right in his opponent's face if the player is using original Iggy.
  • Kato & Ken in the PC Engine game Kato Chan Ken Chan use farting as a weapon. The US Bowdlerization JJ And Jeff replaced this with a spray can.
  • The Rat King and his followers in Little King's Story attack this way. Potentially the first borderline Eldritch Abomination to have a fart attack.
  • In Live A Live, both Pogo and Gori have a gas attack.
  • In Lost Kingdoms, the Hobgoblins have an attack by farting on Katia. If Katia is hit, she will turn green and stop every 2 seconds because of the smell.
  • Olaf in The Lost Vikings 2 uses farts to mini-jump or to elevate himself while gliding. Not to mention destroying the brick floors.
  • Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times has the weirdest application of "Farts as a weapon", ever. In addition to just causing mischief, you can use the "Flatulence" spell to make ghosts pass gas... and in the process, launch into the air like a rocket, getting rid of them until you leave the screen.
  • The second boss of Maka Maka (1992), Princess Gourmet, whose only real attack is farting. It's also the only way to escape her stomach after she eats you!
  • Miitopia has an enemy called "Twerky" (Yes it's actually called that) and it only has two attacks. Bashing you with it's rear or farting on your entire team. This also makes them angry, and understandably so.
  • One of the bosses of Mini Ninjas attacks by fanning clouds of farts towards the players.
  • Monster Hunter:
    • Monster Hunter 2 (dos): Congalala uses this as its signature form of offense, and can be troublesome due to it making you too nauseous to use items temporarily if it connects. It even unleashes a giant fart instead of roaring, but it's still loud enough to hurt an unprotected hunter's ears. Emerald Congalala, a subspecies introduced in Freedom Unite, is even more fart-happy.
    • Monster Hunter Portable 3rd: Volvidon and Steel Uragaan are capable of unleashing a fetid gas from their skins. They both inflict the same soiling status effect that Congalala inflicts, namely the prevention of item use until it expires or unless a Deodorant is used.
    • Monster Hunter 4: When enraged, the Seltas Queen unleashes a large amount of nauseous gas that prevents item usage onto the hunter if they're hit with it. The gas comes from her lower body.
    • Monster Hunter Stories: Navirou gains the abilities of a Congalala. In fact, one of the series' most climactic battles is won by Navirou bloating up to a colossal size and farting on the enemy monster.
  • Monster Rancher:
    • The Hare species frequently has "Gas" as one of its special attacks. While it doesn't do much damage, it does decrease Guts quite a bit. They're not the only species to have such an attack—while not explicitly stated to be a "gas attack" (groan), the Whirlwind move done by the Garu species does look a little... suspicious.
      • Hare's Gas attack in the first Monster Rancher was actually one its strongest attacks. However, the move's damage was massively weaken in Monster Rancher 2 (it still reduced guts by a lot)and was eventually removed altogether in later installments.
    • It's also employed by Apes, which only appear in some of the games. As well as being used by Hare in the anime, though cut from the American dub, in which it was far more powerful.
  • Mortal Kombat has Bo' Rai Cho, a Drunken Master who weaponizes his farts. In Mortal Kombat: Deception, he has a "fartality" which involves Farts on Fire, and he can also do a Hara-Kiri which involves holding in a fart until he explodes. Mortal Kombat X has his farts as an important part of his fighting style, as the stench is so powerful that it stuns opponents, giving you a free hit if it connects. Mortal Kombat 1, introduces the Windbreaker Talisman which, as the name implies, enables the wielder to break wind that damages their opponents.
  • The custom built fighting game M.U.G.E.N has many fighters with fart as part of their moveset:
    • One version of the dog from Duck Hunt farts as his crouching medium kick.
    • Franko Pedalowski by Most Mysterious has a fart as a super. The level 3 version of it has him shitting A HUGE TV.
    • Gustavo, whose only attacks are... well, farts.
    • One version of Ice Man accidentally farts as his taunt. Those caught in the cloud will take damage and be stunned.
    • Kazecat has a lot of Martial Fartists including:
      • Camilla, a kangaroo tomboy, whom is basically Roxxie Roo if she were playable. Her special is even a carbon copy of Roxxie Roo's assist special.
      • Enorma possesses an Ass Kicks You variation where after landing butt first onto her enemy she makes sure they 'feel the wind' if the attack button is hold.
      • Lardo a Gasshole Fat Slob giant rat wearing nothing but a tight fitting black speedo, has a self Ass Shove variation, complete with a taunt which intoxicates the enemy impregnated by the smell dealing damage akin to poisoned status, he also has a burping variation which is his only projectile-based attack albeit slowly.
      • Pastilla a Centaur Skunk which has a poisoning effect to it. She has a skull tattooed on her centaurian ass, a sign of stay clear of exhaustion fume. Going further to humiliate her opponent, she can conjure an elevator and trap her opponent there "hot boxing" it.
      • Pepper Aroma who has projectile based on her skunk "spray" and a "nuke" variation which she explodes the entire area damaging the opponent in the radius.
      • Pig, a Fat Slob giantess pig, clad in a leopard bikini. She even has a gauge, where the more it's filled, the more damage her fart attacks will deal.
      • Texas doesn’t have one herself on her arsenal but her "aided attacks" sure do with one special being her frenemy Roxxie Roo, dropping down and shoving Texas and her opponent via her giant rear end into the scenario's end, letting it rip, which can damage both Texas and her Opponent if the QTE isn’t executed on time.
    • The goblin character Menelikke does the same in his super. There's also the giantess Delilah who, in one of her alternate versions, has a full screen gas attack.
    • Peter Griffin uses farts as a flamethrower.
  • Mutant Football League features the Orcs of Hazzard, a team with the unique "Fart" dirty trick. It's a Quarterback Sneak play that lets the QB release green gas clouds, which completely stuns any would-be tacklers.
  • In Mutant League Hockey, one of the Terminator Trolz' Nasty Plays is called "Skunk." When called, their players can rip one off on command and repel the other team's players with the stench. The effects last until the next stoppage of play.
  • In Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles, one stage has a troop of monkeys who can attack by farting.
  • In Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Abe can let out a particularly nasty bit of flatulence when he drinks Soulstorm Brew; these farts can be possessed via chanting, moved to a target location and detonated. If left unpossessed, they'll detonate after a few seconds anyway. This was even a selling point used in video game magazines at the time, with the tagline "Fart Possession: No other game has it, no other game wants it!"
  • In Ōkami, there's an enemy in the series called Clay Soldier, who will attack by turning around and blasting you with a fart. They share a moveset with one of the masked enemies in the North, who also uses it.
  • This is one of the orcs' special attacks in Orc Attack: Flatulent Rebellion.
  • In Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Spittle Slugs have a flatulence-based AOE attack, along with exploding after death.
  • In Owlboy, the main character earns the power to "roll." It looks like rolling on ground, but rolling in the air leave behind a blast of wind. It is debatable whether or not this counts, but the fact that the person that teaches him to roll tells him he rolls better with a full stomach leaves some suspicious implications.
  • Pikmin: The Doodlebug is a creature in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4 that repeatedly farts poison clouds. These clouds are identical to the posion from broken pipes of 2 or teal mushrooms in 4, and as such, they are dangerous to any type of Pikmin except White Pikmin.
  • The Man-at-Arms can do this in Pirates Vikings and Knights by using his Special Attack. This, like everything else about the character, is a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

  • Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time: The Chili Bean, which delivers a deadly amount of gastrointestinal distress to any zombie that eats it. In the act of dissolving, the dying zombie releases a cloud of stench that will stun any other zombies in its wake.
  • PO'ed have aliens resembling buttholes on legs (yes, really) as The Goomba in the first few levels. Their sole attack is farting a weak ball of gas that deal minimal damage.
  • Pokémon:
    • In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Stunky (a skunk Pokémon) can learn Flamethrower. It doesn't fire it from its mouth. It can also have the explosive Aftermath ability and learn Explosion, which could presumably originate from the same...area.
      • Chimchar, the fire starter from the same game, is an ape with a flaming backside. Its Pokedex entry even indicates that it's "fueled by gas produced in its belly".
    • Skuntank from Team Skull in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky teams up with Koffing to do a "stinky gas attack". Skuntank, of course, turns around to do this...
    • Skuntank's cry sounds, quite obviously, pretty much like a fart. Same goes for its pre-evolution Stunky. Just a coincidence?
    • On a semi-related note, Pokémon X and Y introduces the Poison-type move Belch (which both Stunky and Skuntank can use).
  • The ape Chaos from Primal Rage has a move called Fart of Fury.
  • One of Conker's special Context Sensitive abilities in Project Spark. It's exclusive to the Champion's Quest and Crossroads mode and does not appear in Conker's Big Reunion.
  • The web-based Flash game Puzzle Farter—well, come on, the title pretty much says it all, doesn't it? This one has the "rocket propulsion" brand of flatulence.
  • In Rampage Through Time, Harley the warthog's special power is called Boar Butt Blast.
  • In Red Faction: Armageddon, after completing the game, you can get a weapon called Mr. Toots, a cute toy Unicorn... that farts lethal rainbow-colored beams of horrible death! Here.👁 Image
  • In Rogue Galaxy, Kisala has a special ability called "Deadly Stench", in which she farts into a dirty sock and hurls it towards the enemy. Understandably, the attack does poison damage.
  • Rogue Legacy 2: The Super IBS trait gives your character farts potent enough to be both an attack as well as to boost your character into the sky.
  • In Russian Overkill, the Cyborg's secondary melee attack is a massive fart that instantly kills any demon caught in its radius.
  • In Saints Row: The Third, if you upgrade the Flashbang grenade to the maximum, it becomes a 'Fart in a Jar', leaving a green cloud that will stun enemies and civilians and often make them barf. Oh, and the Final Boss in one of the two endings has to be stunned with a flashbang before you can deal damage with your guns, so if you have the upgrade then you get to enjoy farting them to death.
  • Earthquake on Samurai Shodown has a fart attack as his special move...
    • Namely, it's a grapple. Step one, grab victim's head. Step two, turn so rear is near victim's head. Step three ... Step four, PROFIT (and giggle knowingly). Interestingly, in the second game, he (along with the smaller ninjas Hanzo and Galford) has a duplication technique. For the others, slashing the wrong ninja leaves either a fire (Hanzo) or electricity (Galford) bomb. Earthquake's leaves ... let's call it 'gas'.
    • The voice that announces the character at the start of the fight has a thick Japanese accent. It literally pronounces the name as "Ass-quake."
  • The Expansion Pack and Sequel Demo of the freeware fighter Secret of the 8 Stones is based entirely around this. Well, and fetish appeal.
  • In Shrek SuperSlam, Shrek has a move called "Green Storm", which is a huge fart.
  • South Park:
    • In South Park: The Stick of Truth, Grand Wizard Cartman and the New Kid can perform several different types of this, both in battle (requiring "Mana") and outside, and farting is treated as a form of Dangerous Forbidden Technique, especially farting on another man's balls. Outside of battle, farting at an open flame can result in explosions and you can eventually learn a fart that can shatter certain walls. Also, enemies that are farted on in (or just before) battle act as if poisoned (or "grossed out" in game terms).
    • In the sequel, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, the New Kid gains farts that allow them to control time, meaning that they can either cancel an opponent's turn, stop time to land free hits, and even summon a past version of themselves to fight in battles alongside them. Aside from that, they still have various combat moves that involve farting an enemy to death. Near the end of the game, it's revealed that their fart powers are an unintended side effect of a drug their parents have been secretly slipping them their whole life, which was meant to be a Power Limiter for their social-media-friend-making powers, but it didn't work, only giving them super-powerful and really bad farts instead.
      • Morgan Freeman is also a Fartillery master, being the New Kid's teacher in the ways of TimeFarting. He's also the game's Superboss, so he'll demonstrate just how strong his Fartillery is on you if you foolishly initiate combat with him.
  • Stacking features the repeated appearances of Meriwether Malodor, a man know for incredible flatulence. In addition to using his gases on their own worth, late game puzzles involve using them to blow up obstacles by lighting them. His fiance, Felicity Fowler, apparently has *flowery* flatulence that can overpower even Meriwether.
  • In Stubbs the Zombie, one of Stubbs' first special attacks he gets is that of an area of effect fart attack that stuns any enemies surrounding him as they gag on the fumes.
  • Sudeki has the Siege Ogre, whose farts are so deadly they can poison you.
  • Super Mario Bros.:
    • This was actually mostly averted in the Wario Land series where farting was never one of Wario's attacks. However in Wario Land II, the transformation Crazy Wario which was actually Drunk Wario in Japan, had burping a bubble as an attack.
    • Wario in Super Smash Bros., where a fart attack is his B-Down special attack; he can also create dangerous gas clouds in Super Mario Strikers.
    • It's taken over the top in the initial Super Smash Bros. Brawl trailer where the fart creates a massive mushroom cloud. While not capable of creating such an impressive effect in-game, the Wario Waft is still by far Wario's strongest attack, though oddly, it's substantially less deadly at a full charge then it is anywhere between half charged and fully charged. It possesses a nearly unrivaled combination of speed and power, but with the catch that it takes nearly two minutes to charge up all the way.
      • In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, the fully charged fart got a huge buff, transforming it into one of the deadliest moves in the game and allowing Wario turn a match around in an instant if his opponent isn't careful. He also has a bizarre customization for it known as the Rose-Scented Waft, which turns the fart pink and makes it plant flowers on the heads of those it connects with.
        Palutena: Watch out for his sudden farts. And all farts in general. They're gross and dangerous.
    • After losing a battle, O'Chunks from Super Paper Mario will blast off using fart propulsion.
      • There's also a common enemy, Cherbil, which somewhat resembles a... well, just look at it.👁 Image
        ◊ It attacks by spraying a gas that causes various status effects from between its... cheeks. The in-game tattle information even alludes to this:
        "Some say the gas come from their mouths. Some say it comes from elsewhere...... Oh, dear..."
    • Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story has Durmite/Wisdurm using this to evade capture by Luigi.
  • In Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, one of Hakushon Daimaou's supers ends in a fart.
  • Tekken:
    • In some games Kuma (and, by extension, Panda) had the uber-powerful 'Fatal Wind' attack. Next-to-zero range and long windup, but if it DOES hit, it's practically an instant knockout. Considering that means it's potent enough to knock down a one-and-a-half-ton combat robot (Jack), that may just be THE most lethal fart ever.
    • Likewise Gon from Tekken 3 has the less devastating, but still potent "Gon with the Wind"
    • Kuma retains the 'Fatal Wind' attack as one of his supers in Street Fighter X Tekken, with the only major difference is that it is not an instant knockout like it is in the Tekken games. Although Guile (the first Street Fighter character to be... "introduced" to the attack) might say otherwise...
    • Kuma appears in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale as Heihachi's Level 2 Super. The bear assists his owner by slashing, butt-stomping and, of course, farting on his opponents. Much to their disgust.
  • In ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, the Gassy Tummy present gives the player gas, which makes Earthlings stay away from them every time it's deployed.
  • The unreleased arcade fighting game Tattoo Warriors featured a dedicated fart combo that every player could use. It did almost no damage, and shot at a steep upward angle that made it useless outside of melee range unless you managed to catch your opponent in mid-air.
  • In Tongue Of The Fatman, also known as Mondo's Fight Palace, the Behemoth has a fart attack.
    • Slaughter Sport, sequel to Tongue of the Fatman, a gargoyle named "Guano" who can attack with his flatulence. It's more effective than the Behemoth's.
  • Total War: Warhammer III: Bilious Thunderguff, a Nurgle aligned Chaos Giant recruitable by multiple Chaos factions as a Regiment of Renown, has this as an ability called Violent Wind, which damages enemies in a vortex around him whilst sundering their armor.
    Better out than in' is a questionable maxim-particularly for the unfortunates caught in this deadly, reeking draught.
  • Moguralian β attempts to do this in Undercover Cops when he's about to die.
  • In Vay, the fairy Sirufa is subject to a curse of "seismic flatulence" which the protagonists exploit as a means of travel. However, if each party member is not equipped with a Filtration Mask, the noxious winds kill them all.
  • Versus Umbra: The Chemical Warfare relic makes the player character fart every time he jumps. It comes in handy as the enemy takes 3 damage each second they're in the fart's radius.
  • In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the Gogols come with an attack in which they sit down, and expel a toxic cloud with enough force to lift them up. This attack inflicts party members with the "Stench" status ailment. Furthermore, there are Skwarors, who, for one of their attacks, release a Vile Blast from their rear, which inflicts the "Stench" status ailment on victims, as well as blow them away.
  • The first videogame example, way back in 1985. Po-Chin in Yie Ar Kung-Fu 2 is known as the Poison Gas Warrior. There's still argument on whether they're really farts or not, but the sprites certainly look like it. It should be noted that the game was on multiple computer systems and consoles. In the most detailed he simply breaths fire, which goes against his name, and the fact he turns around and bends over in the other versions. Make of that what you will.
  • Though more of an ability than an attack, Yooka from Yooka-Laylee utilizes his flatulence to create a bubble underwater, which allows him to perform his on-land moves beneath the water's surface.

  • The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius:
    • Carl's N-Men alias is Belch Boy. His superpower is basically Black Canary's, only with burps. In "League of Villains", Carl ends up getting his power switched with Libby's invisibility. She manages to become more skilled at using his power than he was, and did so more quickly.
  • In American Dragon: Jake Long, Jake sometimes uses his dragon powers to fart fire.
  • One episode of Beast Wars ended with Rhinox accidentally destroying Tarantulus' laboratory and defeating the Predacons this way. Megatron had only himself to blame, though—Rhinox's indigestion came about due to a virus he'd sic'ed on the Maximals; it drained his energy, so he had to recuperate by eating the wild beans around the Maximal base. The actual shot was a real ripper. As Rhinox turns, the camera shows his rear aiming towards Megatron, who has a pure look of This Is Gonna Suck, then we cut to a Distant Reaction Shot from space as Rhinox's blast is shown to be clearly visible from orbit.
  • In the Ben 10 episode "Don't Drink the Water", the younger Ben uses his gas as "Stinkyfly" to defeat some giant plants.
  • Chowder:
    • The title character often farts. Occasionally, they're so potent, they knock people unconscious and in at least one instance actually flew by propelling himself with a giant fart.

  • In an episode of The Cleveland Show, "A Brown Thanksgiving", Auntie Momma (formerly Uncle Kevin) leaves the Brown house by putting on roller skates and using her flatulence to rocket off down the road.
  • Danny Phantom: In "Memory Blank", a case of Laser-Guided Amnesia forces Danny to relearn how to use his ghost powers. He accidentally fires an ecto-blast out his backside while practicing.
  • Dexter's Laboratory: In one episode, Dexter eats a huge burrito and gets a stomachache. Thinking he's about to explode, he goes to say goodbye to his parents. His dad tells him to "let 'er rip" — and he does, with such force that the TV behind him is totally demolished. Dexter's parents are aghast; Dexter is blushing and grinning in embarrassment. Not only that, but the pullout shots indicate that the fart is so loud, the entire universe hears it. The episode irises out on Dexter's butt, just as another literally Earth-shattering stinker is emitted.
  • Ed, Edd n Eddy has the El Mongo Stink Bomb. Oh, it worked alright.
  • Family Guy:
    • One gag shows the Big Bang was the result of God lighting his fart in celebration of beating his roommate at arm wrestling.
    • In the Viewer Mail episode, Peter has Chris use his pyrokinesis powers to light a fart, creating a flamethrower-like stream from his butt.
  • In the "Prank Master" episode of Fanboy and Chum Chum, Chum Chum's underwear "explodes" on Yo.
  • The title character from Fleabag Monkeyface has farting as one of his two main superpowers, the other one being burping.
  • The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy: In a childhood flashback by his father, Billy uses his flatulence as propulsion to win fastest baby races, and somehow was certified as a genius because of this.
  • In Grossology, all of the villain Fartor's powers (and schemes) are based around farting. Including a farting Humongous Mecha! Basso Profundo, another villain, uses super-powerful burps.
  • In one episode of House of Mouse, Pete plans to shut down the club by having Pumbaa fart into the air conditioning unit to stink everyone out. Thankfully Donald, who went along with the plan at first (after Pete convinced him it's just an April Fools prank), is there to stop Pete in time, and ultimately Takes the Bullet to redeem himself.
  • Invader Zim: In "Plague of Babies", Zim poses as a "baby inspector" to see if he can ask Shnooky (Noogums) if he saw him undisguised. Shnooky doesn't say anything and produces a smell to get rid of Zim. It is heavily implied he farted since there are squeaking and fart-like noises in the background.
  • In the Jackie Chan Adventures episode "Relics of Demons Past", the writers give Jade a belching habit for the sole purpose of infusing her with Wind Demon Chi and making her burps conjure up nasty windstorms. After the episode, it's never brought up again.
  • Johnny Test: Johnny X's signature Flaming Power Poots.
  • Kaeloo: In Episode 55, Stumpy and Quack Quack attempt to use the gas from one of Stumpy's farts to attack Olaf. It ultimately fails since Olaf doesn't have a nose.
    • In Episode 63, Stumpy uses a fart to propel himself into the air, and he is thus able to attack Mr. Cat from above.
  • The episode "Silent but Dino" of Kung Fu Dino Posse centers around Chow having foul gas after eating food the Big Bad secretly delivered to him. The bad guy later uses all his flatulence to create a giant methane monster. And towards the end of the same episode, Chow is forced to wear a diaper that gets rid of the stench of his gas, but turns it into "environmentally healthy" flames, which come in handy when he has to "fly" and fight the bad guy's minions.
  • The Legend of Korra: In episode 10 Meelo, Tenzin's toddler son took out a bunch of chi-blockers with his "Fartbending".
  • Mega Babies: The babies are prone to farting, especially Meg.
  • In ¡Mucha Lucha!, The Flea had this as his signature move.
  • Similar to the Jimmy Neutron example, in one episode of Phineas and Ferb the group decides to make a superhero cartoon of themselves. When asked what super power he'd like, Buford gives a deep speech on the psychological ramifications of a person's thoughts on superpowers... and then immediately chooses "Belch Man".
  • The Powerpuff Girls (1998):
    • "The Rowdyruff Boys": The Rowdyruff Boys create a burrito-fueled toxic cloud of gas to stop the Powerpuffs.
    • "Reeking Havoc": There's a giant fart monster created by the collective farts of everyone who tried the Professor's Chemical X-laced chili.
  • In The Problem Solverz episode "Awesome Banditz", Alfe forces Roba to eat beans so he can fart and give the racing elevator a speed boost.
  • In ReBoot, one episode features a video game that is clearly a parody of Pokémon. Bob, changed into a dragonlike creature, is ordered to use his "Nuclear Bottom Burp" attack.
  • The Ripping Friends has Citracet become Stinky Butt the Foul after visiting the center of the Earth. Oddly he's one of the most powerful foes they've faced, with powers ranging from butt-propelled flight to "hot pepper grenades" to being able to fart out a sentient mass of stench, eyes, and teeth as his ultimate attack.
  • In Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, the short-lived spinoff of Starship Troopers, the alien Bugs deploy literal fartillery. And no, it wasn't a joke.
  • Samurai Jack has the episode "Jack and the Farting Dragon". Need we say more?
  • A short from well-known German Kids TV show Die Sendung mit der Maus has the hippo Susi Wong, who could get airborne by driving a propeller with her farts.
  • In Skunk Fu!, the title character Skunk, who is a skunk, expels green gas from his butt, sometimes to save the day. However, skunks actually spray a bad smelling chemical rather than really smelly air.
  • South Park:
    • In the first episode, Cartman's Farts on Fire were needed to summon the aliens. In a Season 11 episode, Cartman injected apple juice into his veins to worsen the frequency and potency of his farts as a weapon against a Muslim couple he was demanding information from.
    • In the Terrance and Phillip special "Not Without My Anus", Canada defeats the invasion of Iraq by using their own brand of chemical warfare — mass farting which kills Saddam Hussein.
  • In Tiny Toon Adventures, Fifi La Fume has a similarly off stench mechanism — she slaps her tail on the ground repeatedly, fanning the otherwise low-mobility gas around the vicinity. Subverted, as it comes from her tail.
  • Welcome to Tonka Town: In “Race Day In Tonka Town”, Turbo is able to stop Boomer in his tracks by creating a powerful cloud of exhaust, with exhaust previously having been shown to be the Sentient Vehicle equivalent of farting.
  • In Zak Storm, One of Clovis's "powers" that he seemingly can fire on-will. He has no real control on direction once its released, so he tends to gas his allies as much as his enemies. Also, being a nose-less skeleton doesn't block the smell.

    , a French performer, made his career out of breaking wind. Even performed at the Moulin Rouge, although did not appear in the film. Could imitate musical instruments, blow out candles, and with the help of an ocarina and a rubber tube, play La Marseillaise.
  • Jeff Foxworthy's "Courtesy Sniffs" bit.
    "I had to throw that shirt away, you know that?"
  • George Carlin's solution to the terrorist problem? The Flatulent Airborne Reaction Team, or F.A.R.T. Three guesses as to what kind of weapons they used.
  • Colonoscopy. Afterwards, you have to fart to clear the inserted air out of your system. The nurses encourage this. Any embarrassment is erased by the lingering muscle relaxants in your system.
  • Gastric bypass surgery. To make sure that they don't nick your intestines (causing peritonitis) and not notice, they inflate them with nitrous oxide. Once you got out of surgery, you're farting laughing gas.
  • Any surgeon is happy to hear you're farting post-op. It means that your intestines are waking up from the anesthesia rather than remaining paralyzed. Same with pee and poo, of course.
  • Howard Stern doesn't dress as Fartman anymore, but he recreated his alter-ego for the first few minutes of his movie Private Parts.

  • In his biography, André the Giant is mentioned as having cleared many a restaurant of pesky autograph hunters (the obnoxious kind who won't leave a celebrity alone once identified) with flatulence. Where does a gassy 7' tall, 500 lb gorilla sit? Anywhere he wants to.
  • The Swedish word for "speed" is "fart". Make of that what you will.
  • The third-person singular form of the verb "to drive" (he/she/it is driving) is "Fahrt" in German. Again, make of that what you will.
    • As a consequence, exits on the Autobahn are marked "Ausfahrt". Many a American driver has been confused and/or bemused.
    • And then there's "Himmelfahrt", the German word for "Ascension."
  • Skunks, civets, genets, and mustelids spray their stinky secretions from glands near or just inside their anal canal, which looks like this trope, although the stench comes from vaporized musk rather than flatus.
  • Some tiny animals, such as termites, expel gas from their abdomen to deter predators.
  • The Bombardier Beetle has a special, heart-shaped chamber in its posterior. It mixes peroxide and hydroquinne in it, whereupon the chamber's narrow end opens, acting as a sort of arse-mounted organic flamethrower; squirting a jet of boiling acid at a threat. Some claim it also uses it for rocket-assisted takeoff when flying.
