- Animation Age Ghetto: Animation is only made for and enjoyed by children.
- Audience-Alienating Premise: A premise that scares off its potential audience, regardless of the work's actual quality.
- Avoid the Dreaded G Rating: Unnecessarily adding objectional content to a work in order to receive a higher classification and thus be marketable to older audiences.
- Comedy Ghetto: Comedic works don't win awards.
- Girl-Show Ghetto: Works featuring/for women can only be enjoyed by them/are of inferior quality.
- Guilty Pleasures: Things that someone enjoys but, for whatever reason, is taboo for them to do so.
- I Read It for the Articles: Claiming to enjoy something for its more respectable elements rather than its main appeal.
- It's Not Supposed to Win Oscars: Justifying poor quality of a work by claiming that quality was never the intention.
- It's Popular, Now It Sucks!: The more mainstream something is, the more critical people are at it.
- Lowest Common Denominator: Marketing something to as many demographics as possible.
- Menswear Ghetto: In interactive works with character customization, male clothing options are not as extensive as female ones.
- Minority Show Ghetto: Works featuring a racial minority can only be enjoyed by them.
- Most Definitely Not a Musical: Musicals are advertised in a way that hides the fact that they’re musicals, because the genre is perceived as too niche or oversaturated.
- New Media Are Evil: Newer media and technology are seen as bad.
- Old Media Are Evil: Older, "traditional" media is seen as untrustworthy.
- Oscar Bait: A work that is engineered to win awards by following the stereotypes of works that normally do.
- Out of the Ghetto: A work/genre once considered niche finds success among a broader audience.
- Quality by Popular Vote: Popularity directly correlates to quality.
- Queer Show Ghetto: Works featuring queer characters, relationships or topics can only be enjoyed by the LGBT+ community.
- Rated M for Money: A mature rating acts as a selling point.
- Reviews Are the Gospel: Treating reviews as definitive justification for an opinion.
- Sci-Fi Ghetto: Speculative fiction cannot be "true art."
- True Art: Something can only be true art if it is...
- True Art Is Ancient: from a very long time ago or doesn't appeal to modern audiences.
- True Art Is Angsty: cynical or pessimistic.
- True Art Is Boring: inaccessible to a wider audience or not intrinsically enjoyable.
- True Art Is Incomprehensible: confusing or impossible for ordinary people to understand.
