Tropes:

  • Anthropomorphic Vice: Anthropomorphized cigarettes are usually named "Nick O' Teen" or something similar.
  • Blowing Smoke Rings: Putting a little artistry in your exhaling fumes of smoke.
  • Bubble Pipe: When instead of smoking a pipe is used for the purpose of blowing bubbles.
  • Cigar Chomper: A popular character or figure who's always got that stogie in his mouth.
  • Cigarette Burns: Using a human body to put out your cigarette, indicating torture or toughness.
  • Cigarette of Anxiety: When things go really bad, you just need to light one up!
  • Cigar-Fuse Lighting: When you all have is a lit stogie to get the wick blazing.
  • Couldn't Find a Lighter: Finding cool but inefficient ways to light up your smoke.
  • Distinguished Gentleman's Pipe: The kind of pipe that the rich and influential use to distinguish themselves from the common folk.
  • Everybody Smokes: Works where most or all of the main characters smoke.
  • Explosive Cigar: You'll really get a BANG! out of this smoke.
  • Finger-Snap Lighter: Who needs a Bic when you can just summon fire with a flick of your fingers?
  • Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: The difference between how good characters smoke and how evil characters smoke.
  • Instant Dog-end: Cigarettes are always bent or rumpled.
  • It's Cuban: That cigar that has been banned in America is a real treat to smoke.
  • Last Unsmoked Cigarette: The cigarette that's left as a memento or a reminder of your quitting smoking.
  • Marijuana Is LSD: Effects of marijuana are exaggerated for the sake of comedy or drama.
  • Mouth Full of Smokes: Smoking up to a whole pack of cigarettes all at once, usually by stuffing them into a person's mouth.
  • Must Have Nicotine: A person can't live without that next hit of ground tobacco (or nicotine patch or gum).
  • Nailed to the Wagon: A person is forced to quit smoking by having their cigarettes and smoking stuff taken away.
  • No Smoking: Works where cigarettes and smoking paraphernalia are edited out or disguised as something else.
  • Of Course I Smoke: A person who doesn't smoke tries to make it look like they do — and fail miserably.
  • One Last Smoke: When it's your last day of being alive, you might as well light one up.
  • Only a Lighter: That "gun" that a person pulls on you turns out to only be this, usually for the purpose of lighting a cigarette.
  • Oral Fixation: A person's got to put something in his mouth, even when a cigarette isn't an option.
  • Peace Pipe: A common staple when it comes to Native Americans and smoking.
  • Proud Papa Passes Out the Cigars: It was an old custom for someone to smoke in celebration of a newborn baby.
  • Radish Cure: When the cure for underage smoking is to make a kid smoke cigarettes until they're sick
  • Random Smoking Scene: A smoking scene comes out of nowhere in a story.
  • Second-Face Smoke: When someone gets a face full of somebody else's cigarette smoke.
  • Smoking Hot Sex: When passion is followed by two lovers lighting one up.
  • Smoking Is Cool: When smoking makes you look like a total badass.
  • Smoking Is Edgy: When smoking makes you look edgy or cynical.
  • Smoking Is Not Cool: When smoking makes you look like a total ass.
  • Smoking Is Glamorous: When smoking makes you look like one of the beautiful people from Hollywood.
  • Smoky Gentlemen's Club: Where the rich and influential go to enjoy a smoke.
  • Smoky Voice: A person has a really raspy voice, like they've smoked cigarettes their whole life.
  • Stealth Cigarette Commercial: Sneaky advertising practices to get you to do what they're telling you not to do.
  • Tainted Tobacco: When somebody's tampered with somebody else's smoking herbs.
  • Victory Cigar: Celebrating a triumph by lighting a cigar.
