Memes / Other Internet

Go To

Go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.
"SUP DAWG, I HERD U DIDN'T LIEK FORMING BABBY, BUT I ACCIDENTALLY IN YOUR BASE."

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the Internet, memes are being generated every hour of every day! (Scare Chord)

NOTE TO TROPERS: Please read the entire page before adding your meme. Duplication is a serious problem here, and we'd like to keep it down.

Some sites have so many that they have their own subpages.

Please add entries in the following format:
  • The meme. [[labelnote:Explanation]]The explanation behind the meme.[[/labelnote]] ExplanationLike this.

Examples:

    open/close all folders
    Formatted examples
  • First! ExplanationAn omnipresent, but widely Discredited Meme. In a popular or non-popular video, picture or any entry, someone posts "First!" when he or she thinks it is going to be a first comment. Origins are unclear but believed to have become widespread in the early 2000s.
    • First? Yaoi for you. ExplanationOne of the most common responses to the Discredited need to post first.
    • Skywarp'll push you down some stairs.
    • First? Boobies!ExplanationFark.com has a inbuilt program that automatically edits any "First!" comments into "Boobies!". People later started having fun with the system by posting pictures of a pair of boobies as the first comment. By pair of boobies, we mean two seabirds of the genus Sula.
    • Comments on "I Can Haz Cheezburger" and related sites take it further, with people sometimes posting "Third!" "Fifth!" "Ninth!"
    • Alt. version common in anime fandom: "lol, I stole your comment virginity."
    • The art site Elfwood had this in the form of the first comment dance, with variations including first comment breakdance, tapdance and tango.
    • The meme itself probably predates Slashdot, but truly entered the Internet zeitgeist via that site's "first post" troll posts.
    • This satirical machinima๐Ÿ‘ Image
pokes fun at the phenomenon (plus a few other overused YouTube comments).
  • [Citation Needed] Explanation Wikipedia's policy on citation and verifiability. Often used on other Internet forums in reaction to claims of dubious veracity. See: this๐Ÿ‘ Image
    xkcd strip.
    • Several Uncyclopedia articles have insane claims tagged "[Citation not needed at all; thank you very much]."
  • !!!!!1111oneone111eleven ExplanationAnother Omnipresent Meme. It began when people were adding lots "!"s at the end of a sentence. However, shift was occasionally released earlier than "1", resulting "!!!!!!1". Then people started doing that on purpose, even adding things like "!11oneone" and it went from there.
    • !!!!!!111!11one!11!cos(0)
    • !!!!111!!!!1one!11one!!!(lim from x to 0 of sin(x)/x))
    • !!!!eleventhousandeleventyone!!!!squarerootof121!!!!!!1011โ€” Oh wait, that's 11 in binary.
  • PROMOTIONS!: Presumably started from someone complaining they got fired for looking at risque content on an imageboard. Another user retorted "Well, I got PROMOTED!" and this turned memetic. A memorable in its own right scene from Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, with Stephen Colbert as Phil Ken Sebben loudly shouting "PROMOTIONS!" sealed the deal.
  • Cool story bro ExplanationSimple dismissal of an anecdote that doesn't look legit.
  • You have two cows.๐Ÿ‘ Image
ExplanationThe meme is a parody of examples used in introductory economics, from which the two cows mutated into a representation of currency, capital, property, and anything else related to economics. This is usually used for political jokes and National Stereotypes, but in true meme spirit covers everything.
  • PROGRESS ExplanationThis used as a response of Arc Fatigue that is the "Incarnates" arc because of the conflicting schedules of the Roleplayers in said thread.
  • Yahoo Answers has provided a few low-level memes, although the original posters(one hopes) may have been Trolls.
  • JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION! GET IN THE CAR!ExplanationThe phrase originated in this๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š Toothpaste For Dinner strip, but popularized by 4chan, along with the >:3 "lion smile" emoticon.
  • The pool is a planet and the man is a room outside. ExplanationSupposedly the answer to the following lateral thinking puzzle: "A man has to get across a pool full of sharks. The sharks are hungry and he's delicious. However, the bloke is able to cross from one side to the other unscathed. How does he do it?" Said answer's mix of absurdity and trolling has made it the go to response for any nonsensical question.
  • There's The Slender Man Mythos. But that's all I can say. If I dig too far, who knows what will happen. I'm already too entrenched with this as it is....
    • MY IMMERSION!!!Explanation Often uttered by viewers in response to encountering the actors of a vlog out of game, thus shattering the illusion that the events of a series are taking place in real life. (The actual concept of "immersion", while a major part of vlogs in the early days, became a joke once the mainstream media took notice of Slender Man and the creators of Marble Hornets started selling DVDs of the series via a link on the same Twitter account Jay uses to inform his viewers of his "progress").
    • And now, even Marble Hornets has one. Damn it Alex, why couldn't you just give Slendy his $20?
      • Well, they shouldn't๐Ÿ‘ Image
        have been๐Ÿ‘ Image
        wifin' in the club.๐Ÿ‘ Image
      • You brought your dog!Explanation During Entry #9, Alex can be heard yelling at Seth off-camera for, among other things, bringing his pet dog to a filming session.
      • Masky fucking tackles everything.Explanation Refers to the silent, mask-wearing character who is known for charging and tackling any person who crosses his path.
      • This next meme is going to be a doozy.Explanation In the later entries, Troy Wagner (one of the series creators) would employ this phrase to tease an upcoming Wham Episode.
    • Have we mentioned that Jeff is dead? ExplanationJeff's character is explicitly murdered on-camera in a video titled ":D", which bears the simple description "YUP, HE'S DEAD."
      • And now, so is Jay!Explanation Jay is shot (and presumably killed) by Alex and then taken by the Operator in Entry #80.
    • There's also a minor meme of slipping the Slender Man into the background of otherwise normal images.
  • I put on my Robe and Wizard Hat.ExplanationA meme started by someone named Blood Ninja during a Cybering session๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  • I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.ExplanationA meme with two meanings: (1) approval over the cleverness of a Stealth Insult or (2) a Stealth Insult over a stupid comment.
    • Also known as "I c wat yoo did thar"
  • what is this i don't even Explanation Presumably, the poster loses the power to communicate / think / care after the last word.
  • Survival of the Fittest has several localised ones.
    • IT'S A STEAK! Explanationstemmed from a post in v3 where a character bit another and kept repeatedly thinking it over and over in her head.
    • I don't know if we've said it yet, but Rick Holeman is a marine. ExplanationSaid v3 character has a fascination with the military.
      • Rick Holeman is a marine.
    • Don't forget the ROCKS OF DOOM! ExplanationA good portion of v3 deaths involved rocks in some way or another.
    • Rape hands! Explanationcame from a rejected profile where a girl was being raped by her uncle and eventually killed him. At twelve.
    • X has killed before and she has no particular qualms about doing it again. ExplanationSame origin as above, coming from a line in her profile.
    • mimefan would like to let everyone know that nobody thinks like him, so they can't think like him. ExplanationFrom a post where a member was leaving the site, saying the line.
    • NITPICK. ExplanationA certain mod sometimes says this when pointing out minor details in a profile that seem off but everything else is okay.
    • Charlene Norris and her jelloshots. Around six to eight of them. ExplanationIn a pre-game post said character puts more jello shots down her bra than she really should be able to.
    • and then minase died of aids ExplanationFrom a v1 post where when a character was rolled his handler just simply wrote a one-sentence post saying this. It was quickly retconned into him being shot.
    • Rosa x ANYTHING ExplanationSaid character Really Gets Around and has a lot of pairings.
    • ...She dropped her bread. ExplanationCame from a post involving Reiko Ishida in v4 where, upon find out her sister was killed, well, dropped her bread.
    • Jimmy Brennan. Pretty much everything about him.
      • Craig Hoyle will rape you and wear your skin as a coat. ExplanationSomething he says early on in canon.
      • Make mine Moxie. ExplanationHis weapon was a can of Moxie, which he uses against a Jerk Jock.
    • I'M FROM DETROIT I KNOW HOW TO USE THIS! ExplanationCame from an early thread in SOTF-TV in which Jonas Jeffries wakes up, panics, and eventually runs towards two other characters while brandishing an Uzi and screaming the line.
    • YOU WIN THIS TIME GRAVITYYYYYYYYYYYYY-
      • -YYYYYYYYYYYY! ExplanationIn reference to Richard Han's death in v4, which involves falling from one thread into another.
    • Bridget Connolly/Border Collie OTP. ExplanationReferencing an infamous Kink Meme request involving said pairing... which got answered. A Spin-Off of sorts involving Rosa Fiametta and a horse soon followed.
    • Intentionally misspelling/mispronouncing Alvaro Vacanti's name. ExplanationBefore V6, his handler had Alvaro's name misspelled in his signature. As a result, many handlers thought his name was actually "Alvano." For a while, his handler considered making that his actual name, until he started misspelling it back to the original. Enough handlers were amused by this that they started coming up with their own typos and nicknames for him. It's even become a minor Running Gag in the roleplay proper.
    • References to Hunga Mungas๐Ÿ‘ Image
. ExplanationSaid obscure weapon first appeared in V4, where it got attention due to its unusual name and appearance. It's since become a Running Gag for a Hunga Munga to be assigned once a version.
    • Put Blaine back in the barrel. ExplanationBlaine Eno got shoved into a barrel early in SC2 by someone he tried to kill, only to do even worse things once he got out sometime later. As a result, handlers commented that he should be put back.
    • Scott. ExplanationPV3 had a playable prologue, where, alongside normal characters, there was a system where handlers could submit NPCs that'd die within ten posts. Many of these NPCs were inexplicably named "Scott," to the point where Mini staff had to post an announcement saying that they were no longer accepting characters with that name for that version due to 10% of the male students being named such.
  • BABY FUCK BABY FUCK! ExplanationA reference to probably the most infamous scene from guro manga Mai-Chan's Daily Life, in which the main bad guy rapes the title character's baby.
    • IT'S AWW-RIGHTTT!!! ~~~ ๐…˜๐…ฅ๐…ฎ

  • I give this meme an A++++. would lol again.ExplanationStock reviewer phrase from eBay customers
    • X/10, would Y again. Alternatively: X/Y, would Z again.ExplanationSimilar comment style seen since 2014 for increasingly absurd non-eBay contexts.
  • [X] is the cancer that is killing TV Tropes.ExplanationOriginated on 4chan, as many memes do, to complain about overused memes.
  • Habbo: "Pool's Closed Due to AIDS". ExplanationKids gaming site Habbo Hotel was a popular target for trolls, who would enter the site en masse with suited-men with afros avatars (referring to themselves as "Nigras") then block access to various rooms, particularly the pool, claiming they were closed because of AIDS. If the trolls had sufficient numbers left over after fully blocking the pool, they'd also form a swastika ("Swastiget") and position one afro-clad avatar behind a duck statue on the pool deck so that the statue would appear to be rocking an afro ("Afroduck"). It got to the point that the "suited black man with an afro" avatar would at times get players preemptively banned, which in turn led to the trolls accusing the moderators of racism.
    • Later variant: "Pool's Closed Due to Stingrays" ExplanationAfter the death of "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin in a freak accident with a stingray, the trolls "honored" him by using the same blocking routine, but with Caucasian avatars wearing an approximation of Irwin's trademark outfit of khaki shorts and shirt.
  • Glowing Eyes ExplanationUsed to depict someone getting incredibly excited for any reason. May also include extra filters or deliberate image distortion. The meme itself can be linked to a variety of places, and was probably more inspired from straight examples of the trope throughout media.
  • WHO WAS PHONE!?!๐Ÿ‘ Image
. ExplanationTaken from an infamously poorly written Creepypasta micro-horror story: So ur wid yo honi and ur makin out wen the phone ringz. U ansr it n da voice sayz "wut r u doin wit ma daughter?" u tel ur girl n she say "ma dad is ded." THEN WHO WAS PHONE?
  • JAK ER SNEL HEST ("I iss nise hors")ExplanationA Swedish Internet meme that's grown to ridiculous proportions. It started with an ugly picture of a horse and the words JAK ER SNEL HEST.
    • Its follow-up meme, Hestmatematik๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š.Explanationhavre=oats, klapp=pet, klad hest=~hapi hors. These came to serve as a bunch of puns and lots of general weirdness, most of which is pretty incomprehensible if you're not familiar with Swedish popular culture.
  • "Two million Turks were killed in ex-Soviet Armenia in the 20s, you gum brain!" ExplanationSerdar Argic, one of the first spammers, responded to anything with the case-insensitive string "turkey" or "armenia" in it with robot-generated spam like the above. The irony is that it educated people on the Armenian genocide, the very thing he was denying.
  • Pร”NEIS MALDITOS!๐Ÿ‘ Image
ExplanationActually it's an indirect My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic meme in Brazil with obvious inspiration from that show. It's actually a Nissan advertisement, stating that you'd rather have horsepower than ponypower in your pickup truck.
  • Delete system32! ExplanationThis tidbit shows up at least once on any forum where someone asks for computer help. In reality, system32 is a VERY CRITICAL part of Windows, and deleting it would probably fuck up the computer beyond all repair.

  • Dumb Running Sonic๐Ÿ‘ Image
. ExplanationZac Gorman made this .gif๐Ÿ‘ Image
of Sonic running like an idiot, upon which Nedroid requested that everybody draw a dumb-running Sonic.
  • We all want to be as beautiful as Samantha Brick ExplanationAn online Daily Mail article written by Samantha Brick, in which she was lamenting about๐Ÿ‘ Image
how she is hated for being beautiful quickly became viral, due to its unintentional hilarity and obvious implications that there are reasons other than Brick's beauty why women might not like her, resulting in numerous parodies of the article and the Internet declaring Brick as a sex symbol.
  • "Oh, my dog... Oh, Long John... Oh, Long Johnson... Oh, Don Piano... Why do I despise you all the livelong day?" ExplanationA popular video clip from America's Funniest Home Videos of a cat seemingly singing was popularized years later when it showed up in an episode of South Park.
  • Greentext stories.ExplanationA common format for telling stories and anecdotes on 4chan, using the quote markup (which displays in green, hence the name.) Sometimes leads into other memes. An example follows:

  • IT'S NOT POP TARTS! ExplanationThis is featured in "Revenge of the Commercials", in which The Critic is confused with the '80s Pop Tarts slogan "So cool it's hot, so hot's it's cool" and says that it's like a Zen riddle you're never supposed to figure out. In a cutaway gag, we see a man saying "What is so cool it's hot, but it's so hot it's cool?" The man being questioned says "Pop Tarts?" before being cut off by the riddle-maker yelling "IT'S NOT POP TARTS!" It appears again when a similar slogan appears in a Hot Wheels commercial he's reviewing.
  • Motherfucking Eagles! ExplanationTechdirt's satirical shirt๐Ÿ‘ Image

  • From The Irate Gamer and Chris Bores' other productions:
    • "Bores 'n Doors". ExplanationAs a Running Gag, the Irate Gamer's Monster Party review is repeatedly interrupted by people looking for directions to a Halloween party, only to be brushed aside. This prompted several videos editing anti-IG footage in the place of the visitors, making it look like Bores couldn't handle any criticism.
      • "Uh, yeah, ya think?" and "GET THE FUCK OFF MAH PROPERTY!"ExplanationWhat Bores says during the above clips. The latter in particular really took off.

Bush campaign, the news media, or a late-night comic who started it), into him claiming to have "invented the Internet".
    • Civilization IV references this by having the icon for the Internet advancement being - what else? - a picture of Gore.

  • * "his music the hipster garabe I've ever heard" note Originally a comment posted about Aphex Twin on music website last.fm. Users started using the comment as copypasta on pages for other artists, as well as tagging songs and artists as being in the supposed "hipster garabe" genre. While the original comment was (deliberately?) poorly-typed trolling, "hipster garabe" ultimately just became a general catchall for any music enjoyed by "hipsters"
  • Bongo Cat ExplanationAn animation by StrayRogue of a chibi cat slamming a table with its paws๐Ÿ‘ Image
. The meme gained its most well-known form when Twitter user DitzyFlama edited it๐Ÿ‘ Image

    • Bongo Cat also gained a sub-meme, involving a version showing it hitting the Like and Retweet buttons on Twitter.
  • They did surgery on a grape ExplanationA screenshot from a video demonstrating the accuracy of a robotic surgery system, using it to peel the skin off a grape. • Ricardo Milos dance/Danced like a butterfly ExplanationAn NSFW dance video of Ricardo Milos in a headband and a thong on, which made numerous parodies on Tik Tok and Youtube. The question soon earned many satirical rebukes and outlandish solutions from other users. As strange as it might sound, there are large groups of wild hogs roaming the Southern US and they have attacked humans - firing assault weapons at them is not reccomended though
  • No context accounts ExplanationIn the later half of the New Tens, people started making Twitter accounts where their primary content is just posting weird things related to a single franchise without giving any context to whatever's depicted. These range from Tom and Jerry๐Ÿ‘ Image

  • "Darude - Sandstorm" has lately been used in an "Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer" mentality.Further explanationFor example, toward what song is playing at a video's timecode... and, unfortunately, anything not remotely related to a music inquiry. It allegedly stems from someone posting a video legitimately using this song; people kept asking what it was and it stuck, unfortunately.

  • The Yogscast have become very quotable over the years:
    • "My (insert age of child here) son/daughter saw you swearing in their video and they (insert extreme overreaction), please (insert disproportionate reaction here)".ExplanationThe comments left by some Moral Guardians outraged that the Yogscast wasn't being kid friendly, demanding that the Yogscast remove their videos or take down their entire channel. There are now several variations, such as "my (insert various disabilities or disease) child saw your videos", and the few people being serious have since been drowned out by the meme.
    • "LOOKS FUCKING SHIT" and variations thereupon. ExplanationComes after an infamous Yogtrailers video where Simon Lane yelled it out at the beginning of a trailer to lampshade how the Yogscast just tear apart trailers.
    • "RIP Parv". ExplanationComes from the first Yogscast Christmas livestream, in which Lewis Brindley and Simon pretended that Parv, fellow member and guitarist for Area 11, had died, causing people to think he actually had.
    • "EAT SHIT!" ExplanationThis relates to their Garry's Mod videos, since Ross from Hat Films uses it as his Pre-Asskicking One-Liner.
  • What color is the dress? Explanation Somebody posted a rather badly-lit picture of a lacy dress with the caption "What color is this dress?" Some people saw it as white and gold, and some people saw it as black and blue. Things quickly spiraled out of control. For the record, it was eventually confirmed to be black and blue.
  • Pufferfish eating carrot/๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸกaughExplanationA clip of a video demonstrating the preparation of fugu, where the chef feeds the fish a carrot so he can identify the location of its extremely toxic glands. The fish regurgitates at one point, producing an "augh" sound (sometimes also spelled as "aeugh" or "รฆugh"). The clip went viral after it was used in an Instagram meme video, and other memes have been made using the clip. Some however, do note the darker side of the full video โ€” where the chef proceeds to cut up the fish in question afterward.
  • "Can we get a meme explanation?"

"We already have a meme explanation at home"

Meme explanation at home: ExplanationA template, where "meme explanation" can be substituted for anything that can lead to a joke. These quotes are followed by a picture, implying that the picture contains a low-quality, jank, or otherwise undesirable version of what's being requested, like saying that a Pokemon-focused Direct is undesirable compared to an "anything goes"๐Ÿ‘ Image
Nintendo Direct, or that Dragalia Lost is a scuffed version of Super Smash Bros. due to also containing Mega Man and Marth๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  • Penis music ExplanationA meme that took off in February 2020, stemming from a December 2019 Tumblr post showing a crowd cramming into a door labeled "penis music", as opposed to one labeled "regular music". Said image spread to iFunny, where a sped-up GIF of the Dance Party Ending from Megamind captioned with the phrase became popular. That then spread to Instagram and Twitter, where video edits of the GIF (and other scenes edited to mimic the original Megamind scene) began to proliferate. It soon became strongly associated with the Jackal Queenston song "Rubber Band๐Ÿ‘ Image
", a drum and bass song sampling stock cartoon sound effects. Said song became a benchmark for what "penis music" is supposed to constitute.
  • The phrase โ€œitโ€™s just a gameโ€ is such a weak mindset. You are ok with what happened, losing, imperfection of a craft. When you stop getting angry after losing, youโ€™ve lost twice.

Thereโ€™s always something to learn, and always room for improvement, never settle.
    ๐Ÿ‘ Image

  • Can't have shit in Detroit ExplanationA meme about how bad Detroit is, where people make up a crime, serious or silly, that they claim happened to them in Detroit, such as their daughter getting kidnapped๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š, their Garfield getting deflated๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š, their speech impediment getting stolen๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š or their house itself being taken๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š, and then complain that they "Can't have shit in Detroit".
  • Fellas is it gay to use TV Tropes? Explanation A series of tweets satirizing excessive machismo by asking if a mundane, non-sexual activity is gay, often using Insane Troll Logic to suggest that it is so โ€” for instance, asking if wanting money is gay because you're "collecting pictures of other dudes". It's also used to mock someone who makes these kinds of statements unironically. Jokes of this nature have been used before, but the "fellas is it gay to..." setup seems to have originated with a tweet by one BricksDF, asking if using the urinal directly next to another man was gay.
  • In keeping with ClickHole's characteristic Surreal Humor, the site's fanbase has latched onto several tongue-in-cheek memes that largely seek to parody the very concept of internet memes. Many of them derive their humor from the site's attempts at creating the most humorless, nonsensical memes imaginable.
    • "Here's To You"๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š ExplanationAccording to the writers at Clickhole, it's the most shared image in the history of the internet, and it was shared by LeBron James, Joyce Carol Oates and the Dalai Lama. Because of its popularity, it's (supposedly) mandatory to post it into the comment section of every Clickhole post, whether or not it's actually relevant to the content of the article. No, there isn't actually anything funny or meaningful about the imageโ€”but for a while, fans actually did post it in every Clickhole comment section, finding its sheer inanity hilarious.
    • "It's Charlie Spaghetti!๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š Explanation Another fictional meme that the writers of Clickhole claimed was one of the most popular things on the internet. Like "Here's To You", it's a subtle Take That! to people who believe that memes are automatically funny and/or clever just because they're popular.
    • "Really makes you want to _________." Explanation One of the most common reader comments on Clickhole posts. Fitting in with Clickhole's savage mockery of "inspirational" clickbait posts on websites like Upworthy, it's a mocking way of suggesting that one has been inspired by the site's nonsensical articlesโ€”though it's nearly always completed by some imaginary action that's either bizarre, horrific, or both.
    • "1 Like = 1 _________!" Explanation A popular comment meme parodying "slacktivism" in The New '10s, wherein people assume that they can donate money or goods to charitable organizations just by liking or sharing Facebook posts. The "blank" is always something bizarre and/or unquantifiable.
  • Humans of New York:
    • "Humans of Planet Earth". Explanation In Summer 2014, Brandon Stanton temporarily left New York for a photojournalism "world tour" with the United Nations, conducting candid interviews in several impoverished countries throughout the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and Central America. During his trip, a huge number of commenters suggested that Brandon temporarily rename the series "Humans of Planet Earth"โ€”pointing out that the acronym for the series would then be "HOPE".
    • "A fraction? That's not a good sign..." Explanation In Fall 2015, Brandon decided to experiment with conducting longer interviews with his subjects, spreading interview snippets out between several different photographs. When he did, he would include a fraction in the caption (e.g. "1/3") to let viewers know that the interview was the first in a series. Several of those interviews got a reputation for being absolutely devastating Tearjerkers, leading fans to assume that a Downer Ending was on the way whenever a multi-part interview began.
  • Socialist teeth ExplanationA remark by a furry Twitter user that appeared to insinuate that left-wing members of the community always depicted their fursonas in profile pictures with their "socialist teeth" showing โ€” defined as "oversized bared teeth, normally looking down at the viewer." The hashtag "#SocialistTeeth" soon took off as a meme, with supporters having their fursonas intentionally drawn in such a way. It reached the point where political bots on Twitter were picking up on the hashtag and using it without proper context (such as one stating that "Slovenia was once under #socialistteeth"), conveniently making it easier to find them.
  • Dream:
    • "Also, according to YouTube's statistics, only a small percentage of people who watch my videos are actually subscribed, so if you end up liking this video, consider subscribing. It's free and you can always unsubscribe. Enjoy the video." Explanation Dream says this intro in every one of his videos, and it's gotten to the point where it's been memed all over YouTube. It's also to the point that Dream's moreso saying it out of tradition by this point.
    • The DreamWorks logo. Explanation In the 4 Hunters Manhunt, Dream uses a fishing rod as his main long-range weapon. This caused some people to make comparisons to the man on the moon in the DreamWorks logo.
    • Cobblestone Crafting Table. ExplanationIn the beginning "4 hunter rematch" manhunt, Dream, having no wood and stuck in a tough spot, tries to make a crafting table out of cobblestone.
    • He is just very lucky. ExplanationIn response to Dream's "1 in 7.5 trillion" luck in his speedrun, which led to debate over whether it was real or cheated (it was eventually revealed to be the latter๐Ÿ‘ Image
, for the record), many people began making jokes about Dream doing absurd things that would require an insane amount of luck, and then saying "he is just very lucky" as justification for how he did them, such as getting struck by lightning 16787 times in a row๐Ÿ‘ Image
      .
  • Go to horny jail *BONK* ExplanationAn image of a Doge hitting another doge with a stick, used to tell people to stop hornyposting on social media when it's not necessary. Variations of this have turned using characters from other media.
  • X Fans vs Y Enjoyers๐Ÿ‘ Image

    • [People] when trying to explain [subject]: [timestamp] ExplanationUsed in video comments in a similar deriding fashion, without any comparison. The timestamped moment is usually when someone in the video goes full Motor Mouth.
  • "Excuse me, sir. Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior _________?" Explanation A popular caption that was added to several widely distributed photos of animals pestering humans, as if asking for a moment of their time. The two most popular are a photo of an octopus following a diver ("Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior Cthulhu?") and a photo of an alligator trying to get into a house in Florida ("Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior Godzilla?").
  • I suppose you're wondering about Scuttlebug Raising - but first, we need to talk about Parallel Universes. ExplanationA Super Mario 64 TAS by YouTuber pannenkoek2012๐Ÿ‘ Image
went viral when he commentated on a "0.5x A Press" run of the Watch for Rolling Rocks mission in Hazy Maze Cave๐Ÿ‘ Image
, which at one point involved waiting for 12 hours in order to rocket into an out-of-bounds duplicate of the map, termed a Parallel Universe, in order to bounce of a levitating Scuttlebug enemy he raised up through another glitch so as to complete the mission without letting go of the A Button after pressing and holding it, which is a half-A press.
    • TJ "Henry" Yoshi: "an a press is an a press. You can't say it's only a half" ExplanationThis YouTuber commented the message above. He's basically become pannennkoek2012's memetic Arch-Enemy for that comment alone.
    • One big Scuttlebug jamboree. ExplanationWhile talking about Scuttlebug Transportation, pannenkoek notes that Scuttlebugs can't go through doors, so if you wanted to hold one of these with all of the Scuttlebugs in the level, you're out of luck. This, in tandem with Scuttlebug's Memetic Badassery caused another meme.
    • QPUs. ExplanationThe aforementioned Parallel Universes can be traveled between in intervals of 4, a movement called Quadruple Parallel Universe Movement, or QPU movement. This interesting and silly-sounding phrase went viral with the rest of the video.
    • Build up speed for 12 hours. ExplanationIn order to do QPU movement, you need speed, and lots of it. So much speed, in fact, that it takes 12 hours of building up hyper speed to be able to dash through a QPU. Like the above memes, this phrase took off once the video got popular.
  • Anything and everything by SammyClassicSonicFan.
    • Frick.ExplanationSammy has an infamous tendency to use "frick" in place of harsher words (and oftentimes in less logical places, such as "fan-frick").
    • LIKESONICLIKESONICLIKESONICLIKESONIC, LIKE... SONIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!!ExplanationFrom his most famous video, "Stop Hating On Sonic"

    • You guys have officially made me LOSE MY MARBLES!ExplanationFrom the same video
  • X ALL the things!ExplanationAccompanied by a picture of a badly-drawn person holding a broom (sometimes changed to be something else). Originated from a comic drawn by Allie Brosh entitled "This is Why Iโ€™ll Never be an Adult" - one panel showed her Author Avatar holding a broom, enthusiastically proclaiming "CLEAN ALL THE THINGS!", then the next panel showed the same character saying "clean all the things?" with a sad expression. The meme uses either panel as appropriate. Sometimes "things" is replaced with something more fitting.

  • "I got this, hold my beer." ExplanationUsually used in response to being faced with a difficult challenge. Sometimes used to mock a dramatic failure.
  • *inflates you making you big and round* ExplanationA furry meme that appeared in January 2021; it was spawned from a Twitter post by a right-wing furry, whose dismissal of another user's criticism of the January 6 attacks on the U.S. capitol randomly concluded with said line. The Mood Whiplash caused by the out-of-nowhere Inflating Body Gag quickly turned the line into a catchphrase among other furries (given that inflation is a popular trope in segments of the overall furry community), resulting in numbers of other users๐Ÿ‘ Image
frequently replying to the originator's tweets with "*inflates you making you big and round*", and snowclones of the phrase becoming popular (*[x]s you making you [y] and [z]*).
  • Comments on any comedically "racist" video usually include something along the lines of "I'm offensive and I find this X" (where X is the racial group in question that the video is making fun of). For example, "I'm offensive and I find this Chinese" on a video saying Chinese food is nasty.

  • "...something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve."ExplanationOriginates from a tweet๐Ÿ‘ Image
in which the "something" is getting "a good grade in therapy", this phrase has become a snowclone to describe people trying to be "good enough" at things that don't actually have any such standard โ€” sometimes as a self-aware bit, sometimes as a criticism of someone else.
  • Home Depot flythrough๐Ÿ‘ Image
ExplanationOn December 2nd, 2021, the Home Depot Twitter posted a video of a flythrough of one of their stores. People started editing the video into other contexts, such as Diddy Kong Racing's course select๐Ÿ‘ Image
or a Super Smash Bros. touring stage๐Ÿ‘ Image
    .
  • Jiafei Products ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’… ExplanationA 2021 TikTok meme stemming from spambots posting advertisements for household products, usually containing popular audio clips from the Chinese version of the service, surreal imagery, and broken English captions. Their usernames often contained "jiafei", a reference to two Chinese members of the pop group miss A. One such video๐Ÿ‘ Image
(showing a woman attempting to use an umbrella to guard herself from splatters when using a stoveโ€”which subsequently catches on fire, and then advertises a face mask with an integrated eye shield) would become the template for parodies of the Jiafei posts, usually featuring a clip of a woman screaming and the C-pop song "้‡Ž่Šฑ้ฆ™" ("The scent of wild flowers") by DJ He Peng๐Ÿ‘ Image
. Parodies of the videos also became increasingly bizarre, with passive-aggressive captions, jokes about Jiafei being prone to "kidnapping" people (a reference to the external links often found in the spam accounts' bios, which users suspected were phishing pages), Sensory Abuse, references to "(sexy) products", and remixes of "้‡Ž่Šฑ้ฆ™" (often mashups with other pop and K-pop songs, with Melanie Martinez and CupcakKe being particularly popular). Jiafei has since become a figure in other adjacent memes such as "FlopTok", whose memes are often associated with similar aesthetics.

  • Boykisser ExplanationA family of memes involving a cartoon cat originally drawn by artist Mauzymice. The meme originates from a GIF of the cat with hypnotic eyes, which had been edited with the caption "ooooo you like kissing boys ur a boykisser". Subsequent content typically revolved around said cat and similar themes. A fan animation themed around the meme also helped spawn another related meme in October 2023 โ€” "Chipi Chipi Chapa Chapa". โ€” which itself became a wider phenomenon when a TikTok video of a (actual) cat bobbing its head to the song became viral.
  • Hear me out ExplanationA phrase usually accompanying a picture of a specific character, implying the poster has Perverse Sexual Lust for them.
    • Literally any conventionally attractive woman ever/Hear me out guysโ€ฆ ExplanationAn image critiquing the formers use. (Though it's likely that the reason why conventionally attractive characters have people saying "hear me out" is because they're evil and not because of any physical attributes)
      • Bomb Explanation An image likely drawn by another artist, where the "hear me out" guy throws a bomb at the "conventionally attractive" woman. Usually used as a response to the previous.
  • Oblivious Person: Hey, could I get some context for who this is? Everyone's saying it's bad/Dipshit289: dude you don't wanna know... oh the horror.... ExplanationAn image critiquing responses to comments on posts that don't actually give any context, only implying that said context is Squicky.

. ("Kurwa" is a Polish swear that is close in spirit to "fucking" and "bitch")
  • UOOOOOOOGH SEEEEEEEX!Explanation (mildly NSFW)From a video๐Ÿ‘ Image
first posted to X (formerly Twitter) depicting, from a first-person perspective, a man named Takeshi aggressively biking down a tunnel while loudly screaming about his desire to have/become sex no matter what it takes, even though people warned him about his body not being able to handle it. In addition to being the go-to representation for horny Otaku, Takeshi has since become a Memetic Badass through people depicting him as being able to keep up with a car on foot through the power of sheer horniness (due to the original video having a first-person view and the bike not being shown) and being able to single-handedly fix Japan's falling birth rate, and his yells of "UOOOGH SEX!" have become a popular way of declaring one's attraction to a sexy character, particularly ones from East Asian media.
  • "X, formerly Twitter."ExplanationWhenever the media refers to Twitter / X, they will almost always refer to it as "X, formerly Twitter". The phrase is often used mockingly by people who think "X" is a stupid name for the platform, or to point out that no one, from the media to the Supreme Court๐Ÿ‘ Image
, is willing to accept the name change.
  • I have the power of God and anime on my side!ExplanationFrom a viral video originating from Twitter/X where a kid does an Ass-Kicking Pose while screaming "Don't fuck with me! I have the power of God and anime on my side!" In addition to the phrase itself becoming very quotable, it received a big resurgence when the Catholic Church unveiled Luce๐Ÿ‘ Image
, the Animesque mascot for the 2025 Jubilee, effectively making her the statement personified.
  • MeepExplanationA clip of an American Woodcock bird making a peenting sound๐Ÿ‘ Image
with a shrug-like motion. A popular edit of the clip is one where the "meep" sound is placed between the rifts๐Ÿ‘ Image
in the bridge of "Shine" by Collective Soul.
  • Speech Bubbling๐Ÿ‘ Image
โ—Š ExplanationBorne out of the format of social media that are able to directly post images in comments and discussions, pictures of individuals have a speech bubble added cut off from a side with the cutoff's side being used to indicate that another poster in that direction is the pictured individual. As the example picture shows, this can be used to either compliment or mock another poster...but the Internet being what it is, usually to mock.

by saying the aforementioned "brain slushie" line, talking about how perfect she is, and cursing up a storm.
      • Her father was arrested for child abuse in March 2011, which would explain a ''lot'' about Jessi's behavior. Not only did 4chan harass an 11-year old, the actions they were harassing her for may have been caused by child abuse. And since she's in therapy now, they probably made it worse.
    • Worse, her recent Internet activity suggests she may have legitimate mental problems.

  • "Banker Girl" (a very newmeme which intersperses with in-print adverts and television adverts for Natwest), apparently using the photo of a blonde girl called Sara from adverts in newspapers, and Natwest's own publication. For some reason it's popular with the Photoshop crowd, becoming an Ascended Meme in itself. In any case, the advert in question can be viewed here๐Ÿ‘ Image
. Ms. Ebrahimi has become very much popular in the United Kingdom, where she actually works as a bank manager, and not a banker like Fred "The Shred" Goodwin. In fact, the meme has become an Ascended Meme as people want to know who she is. It's even gone as far as pushing the Taylor Swift meme out the way in England... and this is despite bankers not being very popular at the moment in the United Kingdom.
