Roleplay / Recycle Quest

Go To

Aisha Laborn gets a new lease on life with her pack of witchy buddies, and she's going to use it as only a Chaos Gremlin with way too much personal power can. To burn down the broken systems rotting Brockton Bay from the inside out and put things right. If only said systems weren't quite as fierce about protecting themselves...

Recycle Quest👁 Image
is a projection quest on SpaceBattles centered around reusing the same small cast of projections over and over again, stacking new abilities and synergies as they learn from each other. It is also a villain quest, in the sense that Aisha is actively working against the heroes, the status quo, and the law, while using extremely PR unfriendly powers. Even if she's ultimately trying to make things better, she will be attacked by society at large. Remember, Hero is a PR term for "Cop with powers...."

Recycle Quest provides examples of:

  • Anti-Hero: Despite her protests of being calls a Hero, Aisha is in fact highly heroic. Sure, she's a Necromancer whose actions are motivated primarily by spite at first, and yes there are plenty of heroes trying to stop her, but she does save lives, and she never harms innocents.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The PRT might want to paint Omen and the Undersiders as villains, and they certainly have scary powers, but their actions have thus far proven more toward the defeat of actual threats and the saving of innocents.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: Mister Fancy is the animated skeleton of a killer whale... who wears a top hat made of bone.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Invoked by Aisha constantly. She regularly makes speeches painting the PRT in a bad light, while making it seem like her and the Undersiders are revolutionaries that want to save the city from itself. It gets to a point where she literally walks into the local news station for an interview after the most recent upset.
  • Necromancer: Aisha's first teacher is Harrow the Ninth, so of course she winds up with this power.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: Omen decorates her hero outfit with bone spurs, including a modified cat skull on her helmet and, later, a bony tail extending from her rear.
  • Slave to PR: Exploited by Omen when she pins the underhanded tactics used by the PRT on a Master that was sent to capture her. The PRT is forced to back down and play along with her, or risk being painted as outright monstrous in the public eye.
  • That's What She Said: Alec plays this card, but Melinoë is oblivious.
Melinoë: "I'm a goddess. I have infinite stamina. You do not."
    Alec: "That's what she said."
Melinoë: "Yes, that is what I said."
  • Villain with Good Publicity: As a flipside of her portrayal of the PRT in a bad light, Aisha publicly insists that the Undersiders are only criminals for their own survival and are actively working to remove the elements that are forcing them to be that way. The fact that this does happen to be (mostly) true certainly helps, as does her repeated defeats of actually dangerous villains and her rescue and healing of their victims.
