The game where cooperation and intuition lure the bandit into a trap.
Bandido is a cooperative network building game, designed by Martin Nedergaard Andersen and first published in 2016 by Helvetiq. The players take turns placing cards so that all tunnels are blocked and Bandido cannot escape your jail.
The sequel Bandida adds object cards that trigger actions when they are played. These actions can help or hinder the players. It also includes a game mode where the players try to help Bandida escape, and a game mode that combines both games.
Tropes found in the game include:
- Building Location Restrictions: After the Super Card (the start card), the game requires each card to be placed adjacent to an existing one, and for the features on each newly placed card to match those on the previously-played adjacent cards.
- Co-Op Multiplayer: All the players work together to block the tunnels.
- Difficulty Levels: The easier side of the Super Card (the start card) has 5 tunnel openings. The harder side has 6 tunnel openings.
- Digital Tabletop Game Adaptation: Both Bandido and Bandida are available on Board Game Arena.
- One-Word Title: Bandido (or Bandida for the sequel).
- Sequel: Bandida
- Sliding Scale of Cooperation vs. Competition: The game is an example of "Enforced Cooperation", as there are no competitive elements and the players are required to work together.
