Abstract

We present here the results of our multicolor photometric work on the bright stars. Of the stars listed in the Catalogue of Bright Stars, we have observed 1567 in U, B, V, R, and I; 653 in J and K; and 268 in L. Comparisons of our new UBV measures with previously published data on the same system indicate that the quality of our data is high. We have found it possible to make a very accurate transformation of the southern Cape photometry to the UBV system; for this reason, we give here a catalog of UBV photometry on nearly 5000 bright stars over the entire sky.
