Curtis Schmidt-thin prism survey for extragalactic emission-line objects: University of Michigan List III.

Abstract

Descriptions, positions, and finding charts are presented for 100 extragalactic emission-line objects and possible QSOs. Also included is one apparent galactic nova. They were detected optically with the 61 cm aperture Curtis Schmidt telescope in combination with a thin objective prism and a Kodak IIIa-J photographic emulsion at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. This list, the third in a series being prepared at the University of Michigan, contains sources to about continuum magnitude 18.5-19 which are located in the region with 1950 equatorial coordinates 0li.0 < a < l".l and - 2?5 < 8 < + 2?5. There are 48 apparent emission-line galaxies, 27 "probable" QSOs, and an additional 24 "possible" QSOs. Information presented for each object includes 1950 coordinates, image dimensions from the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey, an estimated continuum apparent magnitude, a redshift estimate when feasible, alternate designations (if they exist) resulting from membership in other compilations, and (for galaxies) a spectral classification which involves compactness, color, and line-strength parameters. Subject headings: galaxies: redshifts - galaxies: Seyfert - galaxies: structure - quasars
