David Schulert is a Geospatial Researcher at the Institute for the Study of War, where he supports the organizationβs mapping and geospatial analysis of global conflicts. In this role, he contributes to operational mapping and spatial intelligence products that inform ISWβs conflict assessments.
Mr. Schulert began his work at ISW as a Geospatial Intern, where he assisted in mapping major Russian offensive operations, including the Kursk Incursion and the Pokrovsk Offensive in Fall 2024. His long-standing interests in military history, cartography, and geopolitics led him to pursue a career in geospatial intelligence.
He holds a Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Redlands in California and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Baptist University in Riverside, California. Originally from Michigan, Mr. Schulert spent much of his life in Southern California and is now based in the Washington, D.C. area.
