Stefaniia Bern is a Communications and Publishing Associate at the Institute for the Study of War. She supports the External Relations team in planning and executing ISW’s content strategy, monitoring audience engagement and demographics, and maintaining the organization’s outreach efforts. She also contributes to the development of multimedia content and products to expand ISW’s reach across platforms.

Ms. Bern is a multimedia journalist with experience in communications. From 2022 to 2024, she worked at Reuters, where she contributed to coverage of the war in Ukraine, supporting an international team of correspondents with research, monitoring, and investigative reporting. She has also worked on fact-checking and digital design projects.

Ms. Bern holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Columbia University, where she conducted an in-depth research project about Ukrainian servicemen on the front line. She was awarded the Anne O’Hare McCormick Scholarship for excellence in international reporting.

Ms. Bern is proficient in multimedia production software, OSINT skills, and trained in narrative writing. She is a native speaker of Ukrainian and Russian and has intermediate proficiency in French.
