Cantor Dust plays Rosetta Stoned
hopefully refreshing and different from that to which you are used.
part of a project called Contaminant to be released in the fall.
clearly not quite done, but you get the jist.

this was only my 2nd time seeing them. they were absolutely amazing. aside from the minor mishaps (which didn't even bother me--some of which i didn't even notice until pointed out to me) this show was incredible. i know some people have seen sets of theirs that were just as good and they may say that they've seen the band play better, but i don't have the luxury of being a Dead Head for tool or anything like that. i simply don't have the time, nor the money. nor the resources to be a multi-tasker. such as a 2nd head or a 3rd and 4th arm. (or a 3rd eye. ;) hehe.)

i couldn't tell you what the highlight of this show was, because the whole thing was cohesively (is that a word?) 2 hour piece of amazing. also, i don't know what it is, but the fact that maynard still has his back to the crowd almost at every show still strikes me as awesome/hilarious, even though i thought this 6 years ago when i first saw them (when i was 16). i was a lot less mature back then. i can appreciate some of the aspects of their show and the band a little better now than i could before. even though i had an unusual respect for them, and for good music in general, when i was 16. yet when i saw his back turned to the crowd at last night's show, i still felt like a little kid who couldn't control his emotions or outbursts after spending 15 minutes in a candy store. it's always just been so different to me, and i love that. i thought that was an immaturity thing, but i think it's more than that, really.

"10,000 days" was easily the most awe inspiring moment for not only this show, but for my life. the emotions that bled through during this song, as well as much of the video footage on the backdrop, they are something i cannot describe. i'll even admit, i shed a few tears during "10,000 Days". especially when maynard got choked up while singing "you were the only one who could hold your head up high..."

i'll say this, though. i'm pretty relieved that they didn't play any of their "super hits", especially "the pot." that song is my least favorite tool song, just because of HOW tongue-in-cheek this song is. most of their songs have that element, to some degree, but this was kind of like "hey, we're drunk, let's fuck around and write a song about some asshole who may or may not have been wrong in a given situation or argument. let's also write an extended part in the middle of the song, so that it feels like a tool song." that song is just not very good, compared to what tool can do. (side note: i just thought of something. is this song in standard E? that may have something to do with it, to be honest with you.)

maynard didn't talk at all, the whole night. not one word. while that's not unusual, it made it feel even more real to me. this band still has what they always had, and that's true talent, without regard for the limelight, or gimmicks, or any sort of "in-your-face-ibility" except for the part that really counts: the music.

Today I found a really neat book:
Kaleidoscopic Design Coloring Book by Lester Kubistal
go look here:
http://www.amazon.com/Kaleidoscopic-Design-Coloring-Book-Books/dp/0486405664/sr=1-1/qid=1170822847/ref=sr_1_1/102-3809789-0012134?ie=UTF8&s=books

Looks a little familiar?
Go ahead, look further into the book.

Mr Kubistal is not thanked for his lovely designs on the album itself, nor could I find a thanks on the website.

Maybe I'll fire off an email to Blair.

Anyone going to the Manchester gig this month?

And has anyone been to www.maynardjameskeenan.com (now www.puscifer.com) ... what the hell is it? Has Maynard sold out or is he playing us all for fools again?

10,000 days secret [23 Sep 2006|07:28am]

so i was on adam jone's myspace and he had a few pictures side by side and he asid to cross your eyes and focus on the center. i immeditly thought "10,000 days booklet!"
so it works.. these images are cool.
its hard and makes you eyes hurt though..
easyst way to figure out how to make them one image is to go to the picture with the 2 eyes and make it look like there is only one eyes in the center. (you focus on the center of the pictures when you do it) it will combine both pictures into one if you cross them just the right way

pretty sure this is the secret they where speaking of!
try it, i want to know what you guys think.

So was anyone supposed to be at the San Antonio show? my boyfriend and I drove from Edinburg yesterday to find out the show had been cancelled. Quite a disappointment I must say, but what can you do, maynard is afterall, human, so all we can do is hope he gets better in time for the Dallas show.

My mom and brother were at the Houston show and they said it was pretty weak, they said the band was flawless, but due to Maynard being sick he only sang something like half of the songs? poor guy.

According to toolshed they'll be back after the US tour is supposed to end, so in about a month, hopefully they'll do something special for this show, like play third eye, or prison sex, or pushit..something not being done this tour. if not, oh well. they came back, and thats what is important.

I was incredibly naughty and decided to check out the sale table at my local cd store. Naughty because it's spending money I don't really have (all hail the overdraft!!) but I hadn't bought a cd for too long. Anyhoo, while I'm at the counter and the dude's gathering my cd's from the various drawers, I check out the pile of cd's on the counter and find...two TOOL dvd's - Schism and Parabola. I asked how much they were and what the deal was with them...they'd just come in. :) So, I added to my overdraft and bought them as well.
Wow.
I hadn't seen the video of Parabola, so I was totally blown away, for so many reasons. And the commentary by Jello Biafra? :D
If you see these, buy them.

does anybody have a tool shirt from coachella this year that they are willing to sell? i've seen the shirt numerous times since the show, but i didn't notice it at the merch booth while i was there. i'd be willing to pay just about anything you ask, so just comment if you might be interested in selling.

Howdy,

Tonight is the Houston show and a friend of mine bought two tickets. Her boyfriend also bought two tickets. Whoops. They haven't been able to find anyone to take them off of their hands yet, so here I am to the rescue (or perhaps you to the resuce).

Tickets are Left Section - Row VV - Seats 13-12 and she's asking for $140 for both. I think the original price was like 150 or 160 (don't quote me - I bought solo lawn seats). If you're interested she's asking for people to text her (979.218.3258) since she can't answer her phone at work, but can respond to texts.

The show is tonight, starts at 8PM at Cynthia Woodlands and she'll probably be there an hour-hour and a half before it starts.

Thanks and see ya there.

This is for the San Antonio show on Tuesday the 12th. Doors open at 8. Isis is the opening band.

Section 208 Row 1 ...best you can buy on ticketmaster is behind the stage.

We bought these tickets & our friends bought some for us also. We didn't want to bail on our friends especially when they were doing us a favor. So now we have an extra pair of tickets that we need to get rid of and quick. It's also Tool ... you're promised an amazing show.

We paid $120 for them but we'll take best offer now.
They are electronic tickets so they can be emailed or delivered. They can be delivered to Austin or San Marcos also.

Reply to this or message me at mathismysavior (aim)

(Sorry to make this crappy post but we're desperate now.)

The last week has been really hectic so the hermit that was me did not hear about the announced Tool tour (pathetic I know and I even have their tour page as my home). Until last night. Just enough time for us to be 38th in line. Within 5 minutes Gold Seats had sold (bugger!). Another five minutes and my friends and I were literally screaming through Myers general admission tickets clutched tightly in our hands.

SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!! The last tour I was 14 and not only did I not have anyone to go with my parents wouldn't let me. Anyone else got tickets yet? And are you as telleverybodyfeellikeimgonnawetmyselfholyshitweeeee!! excited as I am?

P.S I also got a text from a friend an hour after the sales started saying that the shows were already sold out but I can't find this verified anywhere.

I bought tickets today to see Tool at the Cardiff International Arena (UK) on 30/11/06 .  I think I have all the Tool albums but haven't had much chance to listen to them properly. I remember the beginning of one of their early albums sounded like King Crimson.
