note: i posted this reluctantly. i do not wish to offend anyone, but i believe it is my right to tell you all how i feel. and i believe honesty is the best policy.
i can understand a feeling of guilt that comes over someone when they slip from thier vegan lifestyle (no matter how severe the incident). but i think we need to ask ourselves, are we vegans because we believe animals deserve uninterupted peaceful lives, or are we vegans for selfish reasons.. "im making a difference, im such a good person." i do get a feeling of high self worth everytime i purchase fake meat at the grocery store, but that isnt why i am a vegan. i am more militant about the lifestyle than most people ive encountered, and i am newer at it. but i do not aspire to ever become "more lenient." and i think that those who do become just that are those who began veganism for the entirely wrong reason. it's a lot harder to "slip" or "fall" if you are honestly concerned with animal rights. this is just my opinion based upon my experiences, i am not referring to any particular person whatsoever (in or out of this community). if you want to feel better about yourself, send a penny a day to ethiopia and quit bitching about the rules.
