I haven't updated properly since forever. This week my work is unusual because I worked Mon, Tues and not again till tomorrow. So I've had two days off and it feels like a weekend because I'm use to working Wed-Fri. Anyways. Next week it goes back to Mon, Wed, Fri. Until I decide when I am leaving. Woolies should be in touch this week, I've got to go and talk to them about induction and that. Today I'm going in to hand in my application to volunteer at the Oxfam Shop in the city. I'm really hoping that works out, it would be fantastic! So thats work news.
The reason for all this work organisation is, as you probably know, I have
GRADUATED. I have a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Peace and Conflict Studies and Anthropology. I didn't go to the ceremony, mainly because I don't have a group of friends I was graduating with, and I'd rather spend the cost of dress robe hire on a nice dinner with family and do the ceremony when I get my Honours. So my certificate should be in the mail for me.
My final semester results are in (about 3 weeks ago, but I'm lazy). I only did two subjects:
POLS - Aggression and Cooperation: High Distinction (7)
ANTH - Kinship, Family and Descent: High Distinction (7) (not sure where that one came from!)
Which means I graduated with an overall GPA of 6.1 (or something like that... it was over 6!) - which is a Distinction average. So I was very happy!
I'm having issues with the Uni, which you may have gathered from my previous post(s). Its proving a bit of a challenge to sort out Honours. Although,
thankfully, the Arts faculty Honours co-ordinator is a really nice woman, who has called me twice to sort things out. Sort of compensates for the Politics department, who sent my letter for special entrance to Honours to the Arts faculty with NO SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS! This woman didn't even know when I was starting Honours, and rang me in a panic earlier this week because she thought i was starting on Monday. She calmed down a bit when she realised I wasn't starting till February. Its just so frustrating. BUT she has told me as long as she gets the paperwork she needs I should be fine to get into Honours with my special consideration.
To explain what has happened: I discovered I had to do another POLS subject this semester (despite what I was told in Jan) to qualify for Honours. However I'd fufilled requirements for graduating my BA. So long story short, I had to write a letter explaining why my Anthropology study compensated for that missing subject, and how it would benefit my Honours study. Submitted that, and if approved it means I have a 'non-traditional' entry to POLS honours and I don't have to do that 10th POLS subject.
So this semester is 'mine' to do somethig productive towards my future I guess. Hence the volunteering. I also need to make a certain amount of money to qualify for government assistance while I do Honours next year, so I don't have to work while i do it. So they are my priorities.
Life is good. I'm content, although will be better when things are more solid and sorted (Woolies and hopefully Oxfam) and I have a weekly timetable.
Forgive me, but I have to have my Deathly Hallows rant.
