So I'm days late and the ENTIRE internet world knows already but Dumbledore is gay!!!

Bet that'll go down well with the people who already think JKR is the devil. I think they missed her message of 'tolerance'.

In other news I saw Ben Lee last night with Alice and her friend and it rocked my socks. He was supported by Wons Phreely (and yes, that is his real name) who was adorable, and Lisa Mitchell, who is apparently an Idol final 12, who played really lovely songs just her and a guitar. Ben was wearing a GOLD sparkly suit and it was great fun all round.

Work is boring and my tummy is cramping really badly :(

That is all.

Massive update of updatey-ness

location: My dining table
mood: πŸ‘ cheerful
cheerful
music: Bloc Party - Hunting for Witches
I haven't updated properly since forever. This week my work is unusual because I worked Mon, Tues and not again till tomorrow. So I've had two days off and it feels like a weekend because I'm use to working Wed-Fri. Anyways. Next week it goes back to Mon, Wed, Fri. Until I decide when I am leaving. Woolies should be in touch this week, I've got to go and talk to them about induction and that. Today I'm going in to hand in my application to volunteer at the Oxfam Shop in the city. I'm really hoping that works out, it would be fantastic! So thats work news.

The reason for all this work organisation is, as you probably know, I have GRADUATED. I have a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Peace and Conflict Studies and Anthropology. I didn't go to the ceremony, mainly because I don't have a group of friends I was graduating with, and I'd rather spend the cost of dress robe hire on a nice dinner with family and do the ceremony when I get my Honours. So my certificate should be in the mail for me.

My final semester results are in (about 3 weeks ago, but I'm lazy). I only did two subjects:
POLS - Aggression and Cooperation: High Distinction (7)
ANTH - Kinship, Family and Descent: High Distinction (7)    (not sure where that one came from!)

Which means I graduated with an overall GPA of 6.1 (or something like that... it was over 6!) - which is a Distinction average. So I was very happy!

I'm having issues with the Uni, which you may have gathered from my previous post(s). Its proving a bit of a challenge to sort out Honours. Although, thankfully, the Arts faculty Honours co-ordinator is a really nice woman, who has called me twice to sort things out. Sort of compensates for the Politics department, who sent my letter for special entrance to Honours to the Arts faculty with NO SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS! This woman didn't even know when I was starting Honours, and rang me in a panic earlier this week because she thought i was starting on Monday. She calmed down a bit when she realised I wasn't starting till February. Its just so frustrating. BUT she has told me as long as she gets the paperwork she needs I should be fine to get into Honours with my special consideration.

To explain what has happened: I discovered I had to do another POLS subject this semester (despite what I was told in Jan) to qualify for Honours. However I'd fufilled requirements for graduating my BA. So long story short, I had to write a letter explaining why my Anthropology study compensated for that missing subject, and how it would benefit my Honours study. Submitted that, and if approved it means I have a 'non-traditional' entry to POLS honours and I don't have to do that 10th POLS subject.

So this semester is 'mine' to do somethig productive towards my future I guess. Hence the volunteering. I also need to make a certain amount of money to qualify for government assistance while I do Honours next year, so I don't have to work while i do it. So they are my priorities.

Life is good. I'm content, although will be better when things are more solid and sorted (Woolies and hopefully Oxfam) and I have a weekly timetable.

Forgive me, but I have to have my Deathly Hallows rant.

Harry Potter 7

location: Brendan's room
mood: πŸ‘ apathetic

So its all over. No more canon Harry Potter. It was brilliant. I am saying nothing more for a few days, but I am sure I will have to write about it or I will EXPLODE, so expect a spoilerish cut rant at some point.

I didn't want to read it because then it would be OVER! And now it is.

And I have work in the morning, and my weekend of Harry Potter will vanish into drudgery. Bah.

brendan and i walked to Newfarm park today. IT took us almost an hour and a half along the river, coz of a massive detour around a huge construction site. It was good fun though.

Oh Harry.

:Love you all

Back, back, back from [her] magical journey!

location: My dining table

So folks I'm back. Hi all! Hope your repectives homes haven't been demolished by freak electrical storms/ attacks by aliens/ the rising of the kraken or any other world changing event.

The roadtrip was massively fun. We clocked over 6000kms in just under 3 weeks, had only 2 days without rain and were in 5 states/territories (out of 8 in Australia).

We have a billion photos and Brendan/I/ us both are going to write a massive diary when we get around to it.

Special thanks to The Nick for his hospitality (or that of his parents) in Melbourne, and to my chicky Meags in Canberra for feeding us yummy chinese and hating BB Michelle as much as we did :)

Now I'm back we've had an odd couple of days (just in not having to pack our suitcases and move on every morning I think). We've bought a fridge which is great - you don't realise how much you use it until you can't. We were using Dylan's fridge until he moved out again, and he moved out and picked it up while I was away.

Brendan is getting ready for another semester at uni, while I wait for my Graduation Certificate to arrive in the mail (I've decided, that all things considered, I'm going to have my ceremony and stuff when I complete my Honours instead). It is odd to think that for the first time in 16 years I am not studying at any school or institution. I have six months to myself before I start my Honours (all things being well). I'd like to look for some volunteer work to do that could help with my Honours/future work so I'm looking into that. Otherwise just the reception gig, and maybe Woolies for a few shifts a week if I can get that sorted with them.

It's a very off-putting in-between-y place, and I'm not quite comfy being in it.

HOWEVER: Harry Potter SEVEN is out in 5 sleeps. Which is most exciting!!!

I shall stop my babbling. Would love to hear from you all, I haven't trawled through my friend's page yet.

Love!

. completely and utterly infatuated. how do people write so convincingly?

"It makes you think everything is profound when, in reality, you're talking to yourself and no one else can translate the language that is You."

i just know i'm reading them too fast and i'm going to catch up with the story and then have to WAIT for installments...

if only i could write like this i would die a happy happy girl...

The butterfly’s attractiveness derives not only from colors and symmetry: deeper motives contribute to it. We would not think them so beautiful if they did not fly, or if they flew straight and briskly like bees, or if they stung, or above all if they did not enact the perturbing mystery of metamorphosis: the latter assumes in our eyes the value of a badly decoded message, a symbol, a sign. -Primo Levi
