XRootD is a framework for sharing massive amount of data across distributed storages. It was developed for high-energy physics applications, such as experiments at SLAC or LHC (Large Hadron Collider), and currently used by various research computing grids, such as Worldwide LHC Computing Grid and Open Science Grid which provides HTC (high throughput computing) to researchers worldwide.

XRootD consists of two daemons:xrootd which manages storage and cmsd which controls the data flow.

Installation

It can be installed with the xrootd package.

Currently there are no additional interfaces, such as systemd units, included in the package.
