Hey guys,

Hopefully this sort of post is allowed! My uncle, Brian Hayden oversaw the renovations at The Gallery on Washington (formerly known as Canterbury/ Lancelot Apartments, before it was sold last January). The renovations are done, and everything looks fabulous. Each apartment has a washer/dryer, dishwasher, granite counters/marble showers, hardwood floors, and includes utilities and a cable package. I wish apartments here in nyc included all that for such an awesome price!

You can check out the website yourself here. As you can see, there is a great referral program going on now. If you're interested in receiving the email that will give you your referral bonus, please comment with your e-mail address, or send me an e-mail at reenie212 AT yahoo.com.

Thanks!

To make this relate to wash u a bit more, my other uncle, David Hayden, went to wash u for undergrad from 1989-1993 and graduated from Olin Business School in '97. I'd love to hear any embarrassing stories if you have them! ;)

"SantaCon is a mass gathering of people dressed in cheap Santa Claus costumes, performing publicly on streets and in bars. The focus is on spontaneity, creativity, and the improvisational nature of human interaction while having a good time. Variously known as Santarchy,Santa Rampages and the Red Menace, SantaCon events are noted for bawdy and harmless behavior, including the singing of naughty Christmascarols, and the giving of gifts."

Lucky St. Louis, we've got 2 of these events by 2 separate groups thsi year! One is this Saturday, the 9th, and one is Sat the 16th.
Schedule for Sat, Dec 9th:Collapse )

Hi everyone, with the election last week there's been a lot of news lately about life science and how it's affecting the WashU community. If these are issues that you try to follow, you might be interested in a website I've been working on at www.stlbiotech.com.

The site is an updated collection of all the news coming out of our regional biotech sector. This is an area that WashU students are making huge contributions to, and if you're planning on finding a career in life science you might be interested in hearing about some of the companies I've profiled in the past. I have one of the largest directories of St. Louis biotech companies available online, so who knows: maybe someone's hiring?

In any case, I hope this is useful. I'd love to hear any suggestions.

and I keep some pretty close tabs on the St. Louis music scene. However, we found that we were often the only people either dancing, moshing, or both at the shows we went to. We therefore formed a group to combat this, and to try and spread the awareness of good musics to others. If you would like to keep up on some of the best shows in StL, I would suggest you join this community here:

ยป A Campuswide Project
Overheard at WashU, much like its inspiration Overheard in New York, seeks to accurately depict campus life through snippets of conversation and everyday occurrences. So if any members of the WashU community witnesses something funny, inspiring, or just plain out of the ordinary in a public place (Whispers, class, Bear's Den, etc), please leave a comment at Overheard at WashU. A poster's name is not necessary, nor is the place where the overheard conversation takes place (both are welcome, of course) while names of the overheard are strictly prohibited.

ยป Link needed for online course system
My mind is going. I can feel it.

Does anyone remember the URL (web address) for the system where one can view syllabi, homework assignments, and the like for the classes one is taking? I'm using my WU employment benefit to take a weekly evening photography course and for the life of me I can't find the link. And, it being 2AM and sleep being badly needed, I'm not sure where I put the syllabus on which I wrote the link while in class last Thursday! I think it started with a T, but I'm not entirely sure ...

I wander off to sleep in the hope that someone will have posted it by morning, or I will find the syllabs tomorrow.

ยป I Wonder, I Do
What fascinates me is that the Praxair explosion wasn't a case of a sudden disastrous accident blowing up in someone's face: all employees got out not only alive but uninjured.

It was instead a case of "Everybody out, boys, she's gonna blow!" They knew an explosion was about to happen.

What could have caused an inevitable chain of events leading to explosion which nonetheless was sufficiently obvious in advance?
