Can I use these packs after surgery, injury, or physical therapy?
Yes. They are commonly recommended for post-surgery recovery, sports injuries, and physical therapy routines. Always follow your healthcare providerโs advice.
How does the Magic Gel Migraine Ice Cap help relieve headaches?
The cap uses cooling gel compression to provide soothing relief for migraines, tension headaches, sinus pressure, and stress. This helps reduce inflammation & numb pain receptors while the gentle compression relaxes muscles around the head & temples.
Can the migraine cap be used for both hot and cold therapy?
Yes. You can freeze the cap for cooling therapy or gently warm it in the microwave for heat therapy. Cold therapy helps reduce inflammation and migraine pain, while heat can relax muscles and relieve tension.
What areas of the head does the cap cover?
The cap provides 360-degree coverage around the head, including the forehead, temples, eyes, and sinuses. This full coverage helps deliver consistent cooling and compression where migraine pain usually occurs.
Is it suitable for sleeping with?
It can be used for relaxation and comfort during rest.

Learn more how customers reviews work on AmazonI bought this cap to help with migraines. A cold cloth or ice pack when you have a migraine can offer some relief but they either don't get cold enough or stay cold long enough. I found this item during a search for an alternative and after reading the reviews decided to give this a go. After using this cap with several migraines I have mostly wonderful things to say about it and only a few minor negatives.
Pros:
This thing gets cold and I mean freezing cold and it will stay cold for at least an hour. When I go to bed with a migraine, this thing is cold long enough for me to go to sleep. The cap is also a snug fit which is a great bonus because the tightness of the cap applies pressure which when combined with the cold is a winning combo! The cap is sectioned out in squares and inside each square is an ice cube which can be moved or pushed to the area that is hurting. The ice cubes are hard but not so hard that you can't lay down on them. I can use this cap sitting in a chair or sleeping in bed and I never have to fear it will fall off!
Cons:
The cap will probably freeze your eyeballs! No matter how you put the cap on, there is always an ice cube close to your eyes. If you headache is coming from your eyes then this is a good thing but if you are experiencing pain from another part of your head, then your eyes are going to hurt from the cold. Also, the square sections of the cap are too large (in my opinion). The cubes can only be moved around within their square and this means that when you put the cap on, that you might not be able to get a cube to actually sit on or be near your source of pain. I actually had this happen a few times. I think the squares should be smaller which would allow for more ice which in turn would provide for more coverage.
I considered these Cons to be minor because I was able to come up with a solution for both cons. For the ice not getting to the right area, I found that I could turn my cap sideways or put it on halfway and that would put a square in the right place. The cap is designed to go on one way so it can be a little uncomfortable when you have to wear it off center but not as uncomfortable as a migraine. My favorite solution was for the eyeball freezing part. which required the use of a sleeping mask that I had bought on Amazon but didn't really like. The sleeping mask that I bought had claimed to have a Velcro band to help keep it secure at night but when I got it, there was no Velcro - it was just an elastic band which means it would slip off each and every night and I ended up throwing that sleeping mask in a drawer. That is until I got this cap. What I do is place the sleeping mask on my face and then place the cap over it. This had 3 positive side affects. The first was that the sleeping mask created a barrier between the cap and my eyes. I can still feel the coolness but its not so cold as to hurt my eyes anymore. The second was that the combination of the sleeping mask and the cap created a complete blackout from any and all light. As anyone who has ever suffered from a migraine knows - light is pain! And the third benefit is the cap is tighter on my head when I am wearing the sleeping mask which means it creates more pressure and pressure is relief where a migraine is concerned.
I really love this item even with the cons I had mentioned. I might have felt differently if I hadn't been able to find a solution for them, but I did and I will never be without one of these. If they ever create an "Upgraded" version with smaller squares and maybe a built in eye cover that can be removed if needed, then I will be the first in line to purchase! I love this thing so much that I bought a second one and when I don't have a headache, they are both in the freezer and when a migraine hits me - I can rotate between the two and always have a cold cap handy if I need it.
If you are a migraine sufferer and are looking for something to offer relief, then pull out your favorite sleeping mask and give this thing a try.
My sister in law sent me a viral video of someone swearing by this. I didn't buy it at first because I thought the price tag attached to it was a bit much, and honestly still do but that's my opinion.. But I have extremely disabling migraines I've had most of my life now that meds usually don't help with so I figured I'd try it and just send it back if it ended up not working. Well I still have it as it works extremely well. Even with my more severe ones where I'm usually barely functional just because of the head pain alone this eases it to the point I can function again.
Pros: It helps with the pain and almost completely kills it in some cases. It's easy to use and easy to put on and even fits my husband's head and he's got a much larger head than I do.
Cons: The price for what it is is a bit much. You cannot store this in the freezer as the ice packs become extremely hard and inflexible and it gets so cold it actually causes more pain that way. I was really hoping the icepacks were the flexible ones they sell that never get that cold but apparently not. So when you do get a headache you have to put this in the freezer and wait a good 30-45 minutes before it's cold enough to be effective and that's obviously inconvenient when you are in a lot of pain and would rather just be able to put it on immediately.
Overall if they change the type of icepacks that are in this I would buy it again, not just for myself, but for my family and friends who also suffer with headaches and migraines. I also feel like the price would be more reasonable with those types of icepacks in there.
Migraine meds give me too many side effects, so I've figured out a more natural protocol that is showing promise for my migraine attacks. I do think adding an ice cap has helped. I'll share what I do in case it is useful for someone else.
First the product: Is this the perfect cap for me? No, but it's pretty good. The cap seems sturdy and I think the product will last. It's a little tight, and I don't have a big head, but it may need to be snug, I just can't tell. The gel sections that get cold get very hard, almost solid, and they dig into my head a bit, so I have to let it thaw until it is malleable before wearing. Once on, it feels pretty good.
Here's the protocol:
I take:
magnesium threonate
B2
I go to be by around 10 and get up by six or seven. Something about following natural circadian rhythym seems to be working.
I make sure to expose myself to morning, afternoon, and late afternoon light. The lights at different times of the day are important for our health. That used to sound crazy to me until I started doing 3x day sun exposure and I started feeling much better in general. I swear we are all walking batteries.
I limit blue light in the evening. If I feel prodrome stage of migraine attack starting, I wear blue light blockers in the evening and get to be early.
At first sign of migraine attack, I fill up ice bath and get in it, wearing the ice cap. Does it sound crazy? Yes. Does it hurt? Yes. But not as much as a four-day migraine does.
I now do about 3 regular ice baths a week and three saunas per week, take a few supplements, get a little sun, and my migraines that used to last 4+ days long and sometimes hit back to back, totalling over 5 per month.....now reduced by 80%. Ice cap helps me. Good luck.
This have been such a life safer. It has help me so much with my migranes and headaches. It retains the temperature for a good minute.

I get pretty bad headaches, I call them migraines but I donโt know if I qualify since Iโve been getting these really bad headaches only in my 40s but theyโre the kind that wear on you as the day goes on, to the point where you just have to go and lay down in a dark quiet room. Or I wake up with it and Iโm hating life. Advil/Tylenol do not help at all. Which they normally do with the old type of headaches I used to get. Anyway I found that this product is very helpful and I recommend it if you suffer from headaches and looking for relief. I canโt take it straight out of the freezer and wear it like Iโm supposed to over my eyes and face like they demonstrate in details above as itโs too intensely cold. I can maybe do it for about 10 seconds but it feels nice. I can leave it on my forehead and around my head and sometimes I bring it down around my neck and this primarily how I use it. I think itโs super cool that it comes with two. I thought Iโd give one to my coworker when I bought it but I really like having two. 20 mins on/off and switch between the two is pretty awesome. I used to put 3 of the usual ice packs for sprains (you know the approx 4x9x0.5 flat ones) in a knee high sock and drape around neck or head. This is way better, lol. They really are intelligently or strategically placed. Never tried to sleep with it. The little ice packs come out of my freezer kinda hard but I can smush with my fingers before I put it on to loosen them up a bit. If your down for the count with headaches, I would highly recommend you try this out.
Men buying for women, donโt give as bday or Xmas gift. We hate functional helpful presents like a vacuum, even though we need those kinds of things too. Give as an I love you gift. Way way more points, you know what I mean.
And thank you to all the people that take time to give reviews for the stuff they buy. I donโt do it enough- pay it forward so to speak- but I always check them out for RL reviews before I buy stuff, hats off to you all. You guys that get stuff free for being regular reviewers, thatโs so friggโn cool, way to luck out, win win in my book.
My spouse and I both suffer from migraines so I bought the two pack. The idea of a head surrounding ice pack for headach pain is great.
However the execution on this product leaves a lot to be desired.
First the stitched channels are not filled with gel, but have several gel ice packs in them. The package says it is so you can "move them around for your comfort." In reality the result is spotty cold coverage and uneven lumps (they also aren't very easy to move around the channels). The ice packs have sharp edges that you can feel through the material and they are incredibly firm when frozen. It honestly feels like having a bunch of rocks around my head.
Sizing is also an issue. I have a very small head circumference and yet the spandex material still felt very tight on my skull (not something you want when you're already in pain!) a better design would have been loose with a drawstring.
Even with all of the above the one thing that truly renders it unusable as intended, is the fact that the material is too thin to protect against skin burns and needs to be wrapped in a cloth.
In the 2 years we have had them they are rarely used as a first choice. We prefer the pliable gel pack my spouse got in physical therapy for his knee. If there's a bag of peas in the freezer we might use them over this product given that the bag of peas is less uncomfortable. 3 stars because is does stay cold for a good while, but honestly don't waste your money.
So far so good.
So far so good.
Itโs excellent for migraines. I do think the instructions are hilarious, though. Iโm including pictures.

I have suffered with very severe migraines since early childhood and I have never found a product that assists me like this lovely cap. I took a long time reading reviews on this, and similar products and I'm so glad I settled for this one. I leave it out of the freezer for about 10 mins and when I put it on it is so soothing and it enables me to sleep, which is very hard to do with migraines. Thankyou for your reviews that enabled me to choose the right one. I would recommend this product to anyone that suffers migraine pain.
Confortante
I left this product on the couch for 10 minutes and wore it to bed and found purple stains all over that wonโt come out!!!!!!! Horrible cheap and a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love this hat it stays frozen longer, nice and cold . I bought an extra as I loved the first so much
Davvero un ottimo acquisto, lo consiglio tantissimo.
