You can take off the smartphone-holder half and leave the part that clips around the controller. It's still comfortable enough to use like that for other situations, though not ideal. My only suggestion would be to make it so that the second half of the clip can somehow be clipped backwards to the main portion to make its profile smaller for storage. Not going to knock it for that, though.
Very good product. Works as advertised. It's very difficult to remove from the M30 controller though without prying it off with something.

The controller this is designed for is a good hybrid the SNES and Sega Genesis controllers, thus making it great for playing emulated games you can buy on Steam on your phone. This clip is designed to attach it to your phone, but the clip is not perfect. The first problem with this clip is the tabs. They make removing it from the controller and little harder as they feel like you need to be forceful to remove them. This is made worse by the fact that the tabs can be broken if you apply too much force removing them. Of course, this wouldn't be as big of an issue if it wasn't for the second issue: the charging port is blocked off by it. As such, I hope 8Bitdo redesigns these clips to fix these issues in the future.

What else is there to say. Alright maybe I could give some extra points for the fact that this thing breaks down into two pieces so it fits into your pocket. I can a phone, controller, and this clip into a single pocket of my jeans. A whole sega genesis on the go, I thought I'd never see the day.
Cheap plastic clips break off after a couple of uses because it's so difficult to remove from the controller, then you have a useless product. They've discontinued this product as well so don't expect any support with replacements. Disappointing.

It fulfills its intended purpose while ignoring everything required of a product that can be used repeatedly.
The clip locks on far too hard. As in, the force required to remove the clip broke it the second time I had to remove it. Snapped the base clean off, with tiny shards of broken plastic falling around my feet. And you HAVE to remove it in order to charge the controller, because the clip completely obscures the charging port.
This product needs a complete redesign, and never should have been put into production in its current state.
Love the controller it's used with, though. Far and away the best all-digital third-party controller I've ever touched. It just needs a clip that wasn't designed without a thought toward actual use.
Works good, holds my Oneplus 7 pro securely. Feels slightly cheaper quality than the SN30 and M30 clips but works well nonetheless 👍
