On Vega Fire TV devices, some apps are now run as cloud apps. Instead of running only on your device like other apps, cloud apps are installed and run on servers in the Amazon cloud, and the app experience is streamed to your device. When a cloud app is installed, the app’s icon appears on your device. When you start the app, software on your device connects to the Amazon cloud and provides the streamed app experience on your TV or other display.
You can tell which apps are cloud apps in two ways.
Apps typically use and store data, like login information, on your device. Cloud apps also use and store data, but because a cloud app runs on a server in the Amazon cloud, the app data is used and stored on an Amazon server. To learn more about how app developers use your personal data, please review the app developer's privacy policy.
Cloud app data is encrypted with a key unique to your device and your Amazon account.
You can delete your cloud app data from the Amazon cloud for each app or for all cloud apps as follows:
If you've installed a cloud app and a newer version of this app is available for on-device installation, we'll automatically replace the cloud app with the updated version on your device. You won't have to do anything to install the app on your device, and you can always manage your apps, including what apps are installed on your device or in the cloud, by navigating to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Apps. The availability of cloud apps, ability to use cloud apps, and availability of content within cloud apps varies by your country of residence and the location of the device.
While cloud app streaming technology can adapt to a wide range of internet speeds and network conditions, we recommend an internet speed of at least 8 Mbps to enjoy the best cloud app experience.
