We haven't heard much about Light No Fire ever since No Man's Sky developer Hello Games revealed it at The Game Awards 2023. That said, studio founder Sean Murray just teased a bit more about the ambition of its upcoming survival game in a new video.

The new comments about Light No Fire came up during a video about Voyagers, the No Man's Sky update that released today. Some of the technology and developer work done on Voyagers' new features will apparently help Hello Games as they create a fantasy survival game with a massive, procedurally generated world.

What did Hello Games reveal about Light No Fire?

The Voyagers update for No Man's Sky will have a noticeable impact on it

About two minutes into the Deep Dive video for the No Man's Sky Voyagers update, Sean Murray brought up Light No Fire. His comments came as he discussed the new technology that allows players to dynamically build and customize their spaceships while traveling on or between planets.

Here's what he had to say:

"On our other game, Light No Fire, you have these real oceans to navigate," he explains "You need boats and crews. This tech is being developed for both games."

Essentially, this suggests that players will be required to build ships to sail the oceans of Light No Fire and be able to edit and build out their ships as they do so. It also suggests that cooperative play will be quite important, potentially more so than it already is in No Man's Sky.

If you're unfamiliar with Light No Fire, it's just as ambitious in scope as No Man's Sky. Rather than procedurally generating a universe of planets, Light No Fire's goal is to create a planet the size of Earth for players to explore.

The aim is for that planet to have no boundaries and be full of secrets to uncover and places for players to build and survive. That's definitely even more ambitious than survival games like Ark or open-world games like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. It's also a massive technological undertaking for Hello Games.

As such, it's understandable why the studio would want its work on No Man's Sky to also be applicable to Light No Fire. Still, even confirmation of just that is exciting for those looking forward to what Hello Games is making next.

Hello Games hasn't discussed the game much since its initial reveal. Light No Fire still has no firm release window or even confirmed platforms it's set to launch on. As such, even this small bit of new information is really interesting to those anticipating the studio's next title.

In the meantime, we just have the Voyagers update for No Man's Sky to enjoy, which adds things like space-walking, a mecha-mouse companion, and more to the sci-fi game alongside the new ship-building features.
